I don't know why people get their knickers in a twist about things like this.

It has zero effect on my everyday life and I have too many personal issues to be concerned about to care.

Seriously wigs?

wordler · 03/02/2025 23:10

The Earthshot prize became an independent charity in July 2022 after being a part of the Royal Foundation for two years.

So you’ll want to take up issues with expenditure with the current CEO.

From my observations they do several events a year and each year involve as many as possible from the previous years 15 finalists, not just the winners who get the $1m prize.

So this year they will be holding networking events and workshops that involve up to 75 different finalists. There’s also an education component to workshop with schools.

I think it’s an impressive project and is already producing some interesting collaborations.

I am just continuing a discussion on a forum with a point made that I, and others, found interesting. No knickers twisted here I can assure you!

It's no different to you discussing Harry & Meghan surely...you must want to talk about them a lot?
This is just a different discussion on another Royal and one of their initiatives

However, I do hope your personal problems sort themselves out soon. I mean that. Sometimes life gets a bit complicated and difficult.

Because William expects to be Head of State and then expects his 10 year old son to be my children's head of state, no questions asked. They are part if our Parliamentary system. I agree that there are far more important issues that need to be resolved in that system ( The electoral system, House of Lords, voter apathy) but we need our Heads of State to be held to account. Parliament doesn't do it, the press largely doesn't do it, the people can't do it. They surround themselves with people who tell them how amazing they are and protect them from any serious challenge. I would like to know, if I was giving to something to do with Earthshot that my money was going to people in India and Africa invent incredible things. Not Williams green carpet. They are either an important part of the system, in which case they need to be held to standards and not be allowed to get away with things the people they are supposed to serve can't, or they are a kind of irrelevant decoration to be gawped at and petted. In which case why does the monarch hold so much power, why does he have secret meetings with the PM? Why do we give millions to them to go to the Rugby matches?

No knickers twisted, just jaws dropping.

As it appears to be fine to discuss Henry and Rachel's charity activity, it only seems only fair to extend the same courtesy to the rest really especially when we're constantly told their charitable work is one of the key benefits to retaining a monarchy.

Mylovelygreendress · 04/02/2025 10:08

When are Archewell’s accounts due to be issued ?

CathyorClaire · 04/02/2025 10:38

Form 990 for 2023 filed around December.

Enormous wage bill and contributors not named.

Thank you but I don't believe I said my "personal issues" were "problems". There's plenty of shit goes on in the world that I can't influence or change so I concentrate for the most part on me and mine.

I just CBA getting worked up about something I can't change, but you do you.

I don't know, and I don't care either. It is what it is. I am not in a position to influence anything, and neither are you. I'm not going to waste any headspace on it.

If there are issues with the RF, it's for parliament who we vote for, to deal with the matter. Write to your MP.

There's a lot of knickers twisted.

I have not discussed Henry's and Rachel's charity activity, because I am not sufficiently well-versed, nor do I actually care.

I don't care about any of the others' charitable activity either. I imagine they are all audited somehow!

I'm sorry I substituted the word 'problems' for 'issues'.
I was actually being sincere in saying I hope it all worked out well for you. Life throws stuff at us at times, I think that means we should all show some empathy to our fellow human beings at times whatever our views are.

I now realise I should've avoided your post altogether.

Extiainoiapeial · 08/02/2025 05:05

Interesting.

Dominic Hampshire sounds as slippery as hell. He was obviously Andrew's fixer, a bit like Fawcett was to Charles with the cash for honours and repeated resignations.
Hampshire is fighting all the way not to have his statement made public. He was the one who boasted of being able to get people into Windsor without officials noticing

Mr Yang's legal team said disclosing the documents "would not enhance public understanding" of the case
🤣🤣. You bet!

Mylovelygreendress · 09/02/2025 08:13

It gets worse . KC really must act .

Extiainoiapeial · 09/02/2025 09:59

From the article...

As for his newest venture, CEO of Startupbootcamp Kauan von Novack said: 'Our mission is to help entrepreneurs to create the change the world needs

What the hell does that mean? Does the world need entrepreneurs that Andrew has channelled somewhere. I think not.

The man is deluded. I think he is desperately trying to hang on to Royal Lodge at all costs. Going by the aeriel picture, it looks in a right state. I would like to think Charles is actually turning the screw on him to move.

Serenster · 09/02/2025 10:26

I’ve read the article but am a bit confused. Isn’t Andrew just doing what Harry and Meghan are also doing? No longer a working royal so parlaying his status (and in this case, his contact book) into a money making opportunity?

Extiainoiapeial · 09/02/2025 10:47

Harry & Meghan are self supporting. Andrew lives in Royal Lodge owned by the Crown Estate and he is still under the wing of the Royal Family. Plus the contacts were made at Pitch at Palace, a very dodgy set up

Maybe if he wants to be like Harry & Meghan he should support himself and move out to a private residence, owned by him.

But of course he won't. He needs the status of a massive Estate for him and his ex wife. It lets him think he is still very royal and gives him the status he thinks he still has.

I hope this thread doesn't now turn into all about Harry & Meghan....

CathyorClaire · 09/02/2025 10:59

Looks like Pitch @ Palace under a different brand name to me.

Is he going to be skimming funds from these entrepreneurs too?

All the more reason to have one, single, elected head of state, whose accounts are transparent, without any hangers on.

Extiainoiapeial · 09/02/2025 11:19

And there are so many hangers on, despite Charles's protestations of slimming down.
They all trade off their royal status.

Alongleadtimeplease · 09/02/2025 11:30

Why on earth would any entrepreneur worth their salt want their name connected to Prince Andrew when he is such damaged goods? Surely it would be the kiss of death?

The only possible vaguest motivation I could understand would be if a company wanted to break in to the middle east, Saudi Arabia possibly, where the British RF has standing? Or someone wanting publicity, good or bad, for publicity's sake? I can't fathom it.

I mean yes, it’s a mystery to me too. 🤣 So I can’t imagine that it’s gong to be terribly successful. But given we’ve been told for 5 years now that senior royals who no longer perform public facing roles are perfectly entitled to make their own way in the commercial world and earn an independent income, then I can’t see why the same is not true of Andrew. Even though he’s an exceptionally tarnished brand!

And Royal Lodge is a bit of a red herring beacuse Andrew did lease it on a long term lease so he has as much right as any other tenant to remain there, as long as he abides by the lease’s covenants. Which if the reporting is right, is presumably why he needs £££, as the lease requires him to maintain the property.

You may well ask, @Alongleadtimeplease. And "Valuable business links"? With spies, racketeers and paedophiles?

Admittedly I know nothing about the integrity of the Dutch initiative, but it doesn't sound like something I'd want to be involved with

Extiainoiapeial · 09/02/2025 12:14

Yes. And he will scrape up money by fair means or foul I'm sure.
