They were both very confused about how the titles worked for great grandchildren of a monarch or were deliberately deceptive about it to Oprah when Meghan implied that there would be no title for Archie because of race.
But the rules are complicated and weird for outsiders - I was trying to explain to an American family member why William and Harry's children were treated differently in this respect and I could see their eyes just glazing over when I was about a quarter into it, lol.
What's interesting is that if they hadn't done away with male-preference primogeniture just before George was born, then they wouldn't have had to create a special LP for William's children. We would have had Prince George, Lady Charlotte, and Prince Louis while the Queen was still alive, so Lord Archie and Lady Lili wouldn't have seemed snubbed. Then, on King Charles's accession, Charlotte, Archie, and Lili would have all been bumped up to Prince/ss at the same time.
The only reason Charlotte was titled Princess from birth was to prevent the potential female heir presumptive from having a lower title than her siblings.
I think Harry hadn't fully processed the reason for the change - and Meghan definitely wouldn't have - they both just saw William's children getting special treatment.
