BBC News - Questions over Andrew's judgement and finances raised again
www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx26q9d42g1o

At this point I think we really have to ask when he has ever displayed good judgement. Thank goodness he isn't a working royal anymore.

Naivety isn’t a sign of complicity

Didn't stop Euge inexplicably providing her bank details to facilitate acceptance of a £25K (£25K!) payment she'd allegedly suggested go direct to the caterers of a surprise party for Fergie:

Your government has hopefully giving Andrew false information to pass into his Chinese pals.

Here in the US under the table payments are made in discreet briefcases. Much less noticeable and classier than plastic grocery bags. Why not spend a little extra to make your illicit payment in style? .

PomandersandRedRibbon · 17/12/2024 07:15

Op I agree what a liability what other damage has this utter fool done.
Good commentary on itv the other day asked how many deals did he actually make for himself by selling his royal status when he was supposed to be making deals for us.
Why wasn't there support anyway to make sure people getting close to him were vetted.

Thank goodness mummy isn't here to protect him anymore.

PomandersandRedRibbon · 17/12/2024 07:18

@cavea a close second, then we are all close seconds.

A close second to Andrew ? Harry and Meghan ??

You may be a close second, however I don't know anyone personally, who operates like any of those three do, I certainly don't.

Listening to Times radio this morning, Bridget Phiilipson was being interviewed and was asked about Andrew. She declined to comment saying there is a tradition that politicians don't comment on the Royal Family. Well it's about time they did. They are public servants and should be answerable to the government and to the public.
If the RF want the public's continued good will, they really need to change.

Extiainoiapeial · 17/12/2024 07:53

I agree. And I haven't looked into it in detail, but I understand the speaker of the House of commons has said in the past "we don't discuss the royal family"

Pathetic

Extiainoiapeial · 17/12/2024 08:21

Front page on one of the rags today with the headline "Andrew's stuffed at Christmas". 😂

It couldn't happen to a nicer man....

Andrew. Again.
Havalona · 17/12/2024 08:31

I know that the King's 3pm speech was probably recorded in August or something, but for the first time, I'll be interested in his message. Family, love, support during illness, annus horribilis. Hmmm that last one might just be starting in 2025 with dear ole Andy.

I suspect either thete was support and he didn't listen because he's stupid but thinks he's a genius or he employs people who will go to any lengths to please him. I suspect all the Royals are like that to a certain extent. They want people around them who will do what they want, even if what they want is idiotic and blatantly wrong.

The Christmas Day speech is prerecorded, but I thought it was usually done quite close to the day now (after all, it’s only the work of seconds to distribute it officially to the the Commonwealth and release it (embargoed) to the media)

ER II used to do it from Sandringham, so recorded only a few days in advance, then it was brought forward a bit and she spoke from Buck House. But I think it’s still December recording.

Though of course bits involving choirs and the selection of accompanying footage may have been made well in advance, so wider theme will have been decided earlier in the autumn.

But there’ll always be built-in scope for late changes in case of major unexpected personal or national events just before Christmas

Unless it's anything that reflects badly on the family, then of course, it's ignored like it never happened

WinterCrow · 17/12/2024 09:02

The Telegraph (that is read by many MPs and their staff, and obvs by other media) is turning the screw. People want to know where Andrew’s money has come from, and how much, and what he used it for.

Good.

Extiainoiapeial · 17/12/2024 09:23

How interesting. And this bit from the article is astonishing
The Chinese businessman, who has mixed with figures from across the British establishment, was a founding member of Prince Andrew’s venture Pitch@Palace China. The Duke is understood to have benefited financially from the scheme thanks to a clause that allowed him to take a 2 per cent cut of investment deals

So.... Andrew took a cut from anything that happened with P@P. Does that clause apply with his 'deals' as a Trade Envoy too?

The scheme, designed to attract investment for budding entrepreneurs, allowed the Duke to plough on with one of his favourite pastimes, using the royal brand to develop business deals and relationships

And enrich himself quite obviously too.
The scale of this, shown in this article is gobsmacking. One million here, one million there, court cases, daughters involved, a P&P benefactor awaiting a fraud court case, Gordonstoun... Andrew's school opening up in China etc. 🫨

Wasn’t this precisely what Harry and Meghan weren’t allowed to do? Using the royal brand?

Eastie77Returns · 17/12/2024 10:21

Charles needs to watch The Godfather ll. When Michael Corleone became the Don and realised his brother Freddo was a completely liability who had betrayed the family he realised he had to get rid. He told his henchmen that nothing should happen to Freddo “while our mother is alive”. Once their mother died…

Not convinced. Remember the Annus Horibilis?

H&M wanted to use an actual brand though Sussex Royal. They weren't barred from softer links (would they really have got their early big deals otherwise?)

Andrew hasn't set up a personal brand. He's trading on his connections and reputation, which is in shreds. It has been for a while now - since we all learned from his own mouth what a disgusting sleaze he is, but this takes it even further

Extiainoiapeial · 17/12/2024 10:37

Yes of course I remember that. Two words. Annus Horribilus. Let's see if Charles says anything, I'd put money on not. But as Andrew's grifting has been going on for decades, this year doesn't stand out really. Apart from the MI6 connection 😅

Well.... Pitch @ Palace Global is his company so that article says - that's his personal brand.

While the UK-based operation of Pitch@Palace was a non-profit-making company, the overseas arm Pitch@Palace Global was owned by the Duke himself and was set up to make profits by brokering deals between tech start-ups and wealthy investors.

Just like ARO is Meghan's. And Archewell (including the production company etc) are theirs

It's really not the case that he's been allowed to do something they are not.

You obviously agree that Pitch @ P was his brand then and last I heard Archewell wasn't using Buckingham Palace for seminars and presentations.

So how is 'palace' not using a Royal brand when ' Royal' is? Especially when he was literally pitching @ Buckingham Palace?

Yes it is, @Extiainoiapeial, so it's hardly surprising that so much has been "sealed" when you consider the weight of what is known

As for whether his Trade Envoy role involved taking 2% of the "proceeds", I doubt this would have been sanctioned officially, but that certainly wouldn't stop him taking the usual kickbacks - though he wouldn't be alone in that

Havalona · 17/12/2024 11:39

I often get the feeling that while Andy's Antics are abhorrent, there's a bit of "Look, over there!" about the RF.

Dig down and it's hard not to think they are all up to something or other.
