At the end of August, there was a partial rejection of the ARO trademark because of the name and descriptions. Also issues with the logo.
They had 3 months to rectify, which you would think would be ample time.

But just a few days before the deadline, an extension has been applied for. Which would be another 3 months

So it’s obviously not an easy fix, I’m sure there have been countless people working to get this done and they have months! Yet they’ve not been able to sort it.

Seemingly, you are only allowed one extension. This would take her to the end of February. So pretty much a year since she’s launched and it’s no further forward, if anything she’s in a worse position. What a disaster.

I remember the days on here when certain posters used to talk about things that Meghan wore and would put on their Christmas lists eg ear rings.

and desperately searching for 'dupes'....with loads of !!!!!!!!!

Yes - it was like reading a teenage magazine.

It was quite disturbing on 2 levels: one, that grown adults (I assume) could react that way to such an obviously false image and two, that they were prepared to admit it!

I mean, I like Catherine, PoWales - but not in THAT way! I wouldn't gush over the clothes and want to copy her look.

BunnyLake · 03/12/2024 09:00

@Sunblessed I don’t think even her most ardent fans, if they were truly being honest, could deny that she is the love child of David Brent and Alan Partridge. If I didn’t know any better I could truly believe she had been written into existence by Ricky Gervais or Steve Coogan.

Her Montecito home is pretty big. I'd have thought that, if the will was there, it wouldn't be particularly difficult to allocate a couple of rooms and part of the garden (maybe parts we've already seen on Netflix and other material they've released) as areas that could be 'dressed' for filming, but still have plenty of space left over for private family life.

And whereas MM's "brand" doesn't really resonate in UK, that doesn't necessarily mean the same in US. I've assumed her focus is US (and that's reinforced by the goods we've heard about so far being too heavy to ship to UK).

So a more important question is how she comes across in the US. And how far a damaging article in as well-respected and influential publication as The Hollywood Reporter would impinge on activities beyond acting and producing.

Spotify built a sound studio for the podcasts to be recorded , I assume that's still there, and could be repurposed? James Martin converted a garage into his onsite kitchen for filming. I think Delia did similar. It can be done, especially if this is to be "your lifestyle" going forward.

As to the US market, their popularity isn't underwater and could be salvageable (especially as Harry remains more popular). The only thing to worry about is that they (especially Meghan) have very high unfavourables and a small number of neutrals. It doesn't give much room for error.

Is it going to be screened here?

TBH it looks quite watered down from the original hype around it and it doesn't look as though there's anything new there.

I was hoping for an examination of Archewell and Invictus finances but it looks as though it's just telling us what we already know about mis-matches between grant and donation figures.

I wonder if the months it spent being reviewed by lawyers have turned it into more of a damp squib?

EdithWeston · 03/12/2024 10:28

I was also wondering if/when it can be watched in the UK

I agree - If this is the the extent of the DM gnashing and frothing - then it doesnt look like there is any new dirt / exposed / revealed.

@CathyorClaire Charity Watch now has 3 years of Archwell financials so should soon be giving it a full evaluation.

I don’t disagree and I’m rooting for her success.

I know for a fact that she’s changed her mind about the business too many times to count.

The jam gifting and insta were extremely premature. I believe she can turn it around though.

Rooting for her success?

Why do you wish success on someone who's bullied her staff on both sides of the Atlantic? She's a notorious piece of work, and that's not the image you need if you want to sell a lifestyle brand.

We liked Delia, we liked Nigella, Jamie etc etc. They were professional (and very expert in their fields). They had a genuine and long-term passion for what they were doing. There has never been a single complaint from colleagues about their behaviour - in fact, all of them have a warm, genuine, benevolent image. How can Meghan compare to people like this? And all these people (and US entrepreneurs like Gwyneth and Martha Stewart) took AGES to develop their brand. Meghan clearly wanted to leap-frog the hard graft, get menials to create it for her and then appear on telly grinning, hugging and word-salading in a film-set kitchen. She only fools fools though!

You are deeply obsessed with Meghan and her purported failures please understand that folks who feels just as strongly as you in the opposite way exist lol

I can see why people dislike Meghan. I can’t honestly think why some people really like her though. I just don’t get where or what her likeability factor is.

I think some people fell for her victim narrative and supported her fleeing the 'nasty salty, racist UK' and feel compelled to support her through that. Fair enough the intentions were good. But many have since seen that some of her victim narrative was overblown and that she is actually the consistent perpetrator of bullying and the abuse of power as reported by numerous staff over many years on both sides of the Atlantic.

Or maybe some people witnessed the continuous, nasty coverage of her in our national press and were appalled by it. And somewhat ashamed.

And perhaps, some people agreed with British female MPs when they denounced the behavior of the press.

And perhaps, on the back of that, they wish them well.

This line is always trotted out and always interesting to me:

she is actually the consistent perpetrator of bullying and the abuse of power as reported by numerous staff over many years on both sides of the Atlantic.

This woman worked for a quite a few years on a tv drama. In that situation a bully has both access and time in which to bully. And yet, where are the stories from cleaners, drivers, runners, tea makers, make up and hair, script people, co stars and so on, about how much of a bully she was?

You would expect a) loads of them if her character is as you all claim, b) that they should be household names because, God knows, The Daily Mail would feast at that table for a while.

There have been stories though, yes? Didn’t someone working on a photoshoot for some clothes brand say Meghan was the worst person they’d ever had the displeasure to work with? They also said she took some clothes and a pair of shoes without permission. This was before she became a household name.

What about the tea incident in Australia? The female staff member in tears in Fiji? The ‘I can’t believe I’m not getting paid for this’ remark also in Australia.

Or have I imagined those?

Most pertinently why don’t Dior, Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton (I could go on) want her? We all know if Catherine left the RF every one of those brands would be knocking her door down to get her.

Baital · 05/12/2024 15:00

The bullying accusations since MM married H have been that she bullied those she had power over, such as staff.

Prior to that she wasn't in that position of power, and had more need to keep people on side, so it is possible her behaviour changed when her circumstances changed.

This does not add up I am afraid.

Two examples of "someone somewhere once said", as far away as Fiji and Auz no less. Nothing from the TV sets that she worked on for years in Canada. Even if you do not like her, that should raise some questions.

The thing is, once bullying allegations come out people line up to tell their stories, which are usually easy to verify. This is because all bullies have their own mo. So, in spite of the fact that people want it to be true in the case of MM, there has never been any credible evidence that points in to anything other than smear.

Regarding the designers - how do we know they don't want her? Where are the press releases saying that she approached them but they refused?

Stella McCartney is an interesting label because they have discussed "stars" and their impact on the brand. MM wore something of theirs (quite some time ago now). The brand calculated that one outing was worth somewhere near 10 million, multiplying by a factor of 10 any influence Obama, Beyonce and PoW have.

Like her or hate her, she moves product more than most. There is no way that any of the design companies on your list that would refuse her. Quite the opposite.

Nothing has ever been officially released.

Sure, there are rumors, allegations, Palace investigations, but nothing is ever released.

This in itself is a form of bullying.

She made her claims against them, out in the open so they get a right to reply.

They imply against her, so she has not able to reply.

She cannot answer to shadows.

It also seems weird that one woman, pretty insignificant by all of your accounts, could come over and bully the royal staff or royal family.

It just too silly for words.
