Meg’s era of joy

Showing up to support her very close friend who lost her child and also the children’s hospital at an evening gala. What a friend to have in the Duchess. Meghan was glowing, fresh faced, wore minimal makeup, was confidant and smiley. She was well spoken and supportive of the evening fund raiser when interviewed. Show Up, Do Good. Yes, she always does. Loved her look too.

It's only a matter of time before that happens.

Harry sold me the dream of Castles and diamonds.

Meghan turned up in my house and threw out my comfy bean bag.

People obviously have a perfect right to comment on her behaviour, her motives, her relationships, her "work", her social media presence and so on. But the attacks on her personal appearance on here have been shocking. Under what circumstances is it OK to talk about a woman's "saggy tits"? Whoever they are?

No one on Mumsnet ever calls Camilla horse-faced, of course. Or been disparaging about Kate’s appearance in photos taken when she was recovering from surgery.

Are there really children out there who’ve deliberately never been told by their parents they’re beautiful/very pretty/gorgeous etc?

Amazing isn't it?
Those children are probably all on the Stately Homes thread now.

I tell my adult DD how nice she looks every time I see her. We have a saying "you look nice. Do you feel nice? 😊

I tell my son too, when he looks clean and tidy which isn't very often because he doesn't make the effort.

CurlewKate · 10/10/2024 13:26

@Serenster "

That makes it Ok, does it? Fair enough. You, as they say, do you.

I'm sure you don't need to worry!
But it has to be done carefully - if you go on and on about being pretty that's not a good look. Or if you imply that your child (or someone else) has met a certain standard. Keep it light and anodyne as in 'nice'.

CoffeeCantata · 10/10/2024 14:12

I'm with you, but this kind of crude, nasty comment is rare on MN. It's the sort of think a horrible man would say. There is speculation about her appearance, and I think it's fair enough to say 'I thought she looked better on a previous occasion, or whatever', but I rarely see that sort of crudity on here.

And people calling Camilla horse-faced is appalling. She's a good-looking woman with a characterful face in her late 70s - and clearly, she'd rather be relaxing in the country with her dogs than dolled up in a fancy coat-dress with hat and full make-up, but she's doing a cracking job despite that!

SidekickSylvia · 10/10/2024 14:39

I'm only skim reading so may have missed it, but I thought it was a criticism of the ill- fitting top of the dress, rather than Meghan's boobs. Either way, it's probably better to challenge the specific poster instead of implying that the whole thread and every poster on it is talking about the gravity of her breasts.

Meghan is fair game to some for every single bit of her body

I may be wrong but I think Meghan's "saggy tits" were mentioned once in a post that was promptly deleted.
The only reason that that phrasing can be found as a description of her breasts is because you quoted it in a post.
I did an advanced search because I had no memory of such a phrase being used here.
So "saggy tits" was found to be an unacceptable description of Meghan's breasts here and hasn't been repeated except by you.

CurlewKate · 10/10/2024 15:01

@LaMarschallin Good. I am very glad that it's been deleted-I don't realise. It's interesting that the only response to my post, however, seems to be suggesting that it was an acceptable comment.

Exactly, all @CurlewKate
has done is invoke the Streisand effect.

The "wicked" bit was correct...

I very much doubt it unless the family is particularly dysfunctional.

You just don't see most of us boast about it in public.

Only one post.

A post which I wasn't sure was suggesting it was an acceptable comment. I actually thought it meant the opposite, but you may wish to feel otherwise.
And maybe there was only one response because the post was deleted so rapidly.

The 3 of us were never told any of those things growing up in the 50s/60s - I don't think my classmates were either. We knew our place, seen and not heard, toe the line, etc, etc. It's sad looking back on it and we knew no different at the time but we have all, at some time, had confidence issues. Anyway, apologies for the derail....

I must have missed it too - I don't recall reading it. The dress is far from flattering in that department! Meghan is very small so I don't think there's enough there to warrant calling them "saggy"!

I've got "saggy tits" because I am a woman of a certain age, but I wear well-fitted bras to mitigate the effect! M must seldom wear one, as the cut of her clothes doesn't lend itself to having a bra underneath!

That could explain why some of us hadn't seen it, but @CurlewKate has perpetuated it by quoting it! Well done!

It's far from only Meghan. You only see what you want to see.

We weren't either. You'd have earned plenty of criticism though. I used to console myself that although I wasn't pretty I was clever. All these years later when I look back at photos, I realise that I was actually quite pretty, and I'm sad I didn't know that at the time.

She practically wore the same outfit as Lizzy Cundy at the same event, the woman Meghan asked to set her up with Ashley Cole, how embarrassing.

Or maybe Lizzy practically wore the same outfit as Meghan?

She’s so naturally beautiful - love that she isn’t caked in makeup.

Lots of help in that department or have you not seen photos of her as a child

No idea what only seeing what I want to see means. I'm lost on that one.

Do point me to the numerous disparaging threads started about Kate, Camilla and whoever on the RF board. Can't find anything, apart from Andrew of course, that goes without saying!

Bit late now, isn't it?
Hardly anyone would have known about the "saggy tits" thing until you brought it up.

And what's the 🤣 for?
Surely Meghan's bosom isn't that hilarious?
