Meg’s era of joy

Showing up to support her very close friend who lost her child and also the children’s hospital at an evening gala. What a friend to have in the Duchess. Meghan was glowing, fresh faced, wore minimal makeup, was confidant and smiley. She was well spoken and supportive of the evening fund raiser when interviewed. Show Up, Do Good. Yes, she always does. Loved her look too.

Racism is not usually saying something to someone overly racist.

It is judging someone (mixed race in this instance) more harshly than a white person, for doing the exact same things.

Even in Harry and Meghans netflix documentary, they put together a montage of articles showing this.

One example was :

An article said : "Catherine, Princess of Wales, wears a beautiful off the shoulder dress".

The article beside it said:

"Meghan Markle disrespects the Royal family and breaks royal protocol, by wearing an off the shoulder dress"

What were the occasions that led to the comments about the dresses?

Royals have been happily wearing off-the-shoulder in evening dresses and ball gowns for centuries (eg Queen Victoria before she was widowed - possibly even further back than that)

But not for daytime clothes. I can only find one pic of the Princess at a daytime event in an off-the-shoulder maxi dress at a German garden party (back in 2017)

I don't think MM was often criticised for her preference for off the shoulder/boatneck, even though it's a style she wore many times.

@Roundthemoon
I didn't ask what racism is or whether the press treated Catherine and Meghan differently - where on the thread is there jealousy and racism. Which posts?

I already answered this.

As you are an adult and able to read and go back through the thread yourself.

I won't be trawling back through the thread for you.

So basically you're saying you saw 'racist' posts on this thread and didn't bother to report them?

Mumsnet has a very low tolerance of racism, and rightly so. If you have seen racist posts, you really should report them.

I think she’s using a different MUA, those are very heavy eyebrows. She’s looking very Real Housewives these days, which may be exactly what she’s aiming for.

To my eyes she is looking different from the last couple of years.
It's like her face shape has changed- got longer with a bigger forehead.
I can't explain it, can't put my finger on what it is.

MummyJ12 · 07/10/2024 14:32

Throwing unsubstantiated accusations around is a form of bullying.

Spectre8 · 07/10/2024 14:33

Serenster · 07/10/2024 14:11

You had a whole load of posts aimed specifically at me deleted for personal attacks!

I knew you would bring it up, no they were deleted cos I called you a liar for incorrectly quoting me and when asked for evidence you couldn't show me the exact post I said it. So if you are going to quote me then it needs to be accurate otherwise it's a lie. I don't personally attacked you for your comments about M&H though.

Hughs · 07/10/2024 14:33

And I answered you.

No, you didn't - I asked which posts on the thread show jealousy or racism and you haven't identified any posts. Could you please?

(It's not great to just accuse a bunch of people of racism without specifying who or what, is it?)

I think she's changed her eyebrows - they look more solid (perhaps with paint to give clearer edges esp in the middle) and slightly thinker.

Cloud9isnowclosed · 07/10/2024 14:35

But @Spectre8 calling someone a liar is a personal attack so QED, no?

My guess is an eyelid lift, botox and cheek fillers, combined with extensive weight loss.

Wtafdoidoo · 07/10/2024 14:39

I swear 40’s is really an age where you can look either in your 30’s or even late 20’s or 60’s 😂 I really notice this is real life also , there doesn’t seem an in between!

Wtafdoidoo · 07/10/2024 14:39

I mean Meghan looks incredible for 43!

IcedPurple · 07/10/2024 14:42

Wtafdoidoo · 07/10/2024 14:39

43 is not old. I see great looking women that age and older every day.

SidekickSylvia · 07/10/2024 14:46

So Meghan's behaviour is so indefensible, that all anyone has now is 'Well, you're all just jealous anyway. And racist.'

After desperately attempting to derail with; Charles, Diana (and their early 80's relationship), Catherine, Camilla and, of course...the british press.

But the prize has to go to the poster that didn't make any personal attacks, but admits to calling another poster a liar. Because in a world where Meghan does nothing wrong, calling someone a liar isn't personal, or an attack.

drivinmecrazy · 07/10/2024 14:46

Wtafdoidoo · 07/10/2024 14:39

You're joking right?
I just went back to the pictures of her and zoomed in.

She has so many 'laughter lines' and 'crows feet'.

I'm ten years older and don't have any.
No surgery to my face, just an ordinary 53 year old.

Not saying she looks awful, but saying she looks great for her age is reaching a little

You said 'I asked which posts'. 'Could you please"

And I replied "no."

Youre allowed to ask. And I get to say no.

You don't get to order another human being around.

I'm not trawling back through the whole thread for you.

You can do that yourself.

Cloud9isnowclosed · 07/10/2024 14:50

So did you report these posts @Roundthemoon ?

Not2identifying · 07/10/2024 14:50

The 'off the shoulder' outfit that caused criticism was her first Trooping the Colour (they had only married the month before) where she was wearing pink. I thought the criticism was ridiculous and she looked very nice.

But the key to dealing with the British press (if you're a royal) is to ignore them. They were looking to stir up drama and clicks any way they could. It was transparently obvious (to a British citizen who has followed royal news for decades).

Roundthemoon · 07/10/2024 14:50

One jealous post that stands out in my memory, and I believe is early on this thread.

One poster said "meghan looks great"

And another poster instantly nastily replied

"What, you mean the nose job"?

This whole thread should be reported for bullying and cruelty

I know what you mean. I can’t quite put my finger on it but I agree her face seems longer (not sure if that’s weight loss). She was attractive in Suits (I’ve only seen the trailer snippets in stuff as I don’t have Netflix but she was very attractive in it). She seems plain now. That’s not a criticism just an observation as I look a lot plainer than I used to, but she doesn’t look like the head turner she was when she first met Harry and he was wowed. If he met her for the first time now I doubt he’d be bowled over. It happens to us all though (except Catherine who barely looks a day older than her student self grrrr).

IcedPurple · 07/10/2024 14:53

Roundthemoon · 07/10/2024 14:51

Yes I did.

If these posts were indeed racist they'll have been deleted immediately. So why are you telling posters to go look for them?

Edited

Report it then.

And just because you disapprove of a post, it doesn't make it evidence of 'jealousy'. Personally, if I were inclined to be jealous of people I'll never meet, Meghan would not be one of them. I see nothing enviable about her life.

Diana got criticised for wearing a strapless black dress in her early years. The (late) Queen was always very traditional so anything that veered into ‘modern’ got criticised regardless of your colour, race, age, whatever.

Learn to read the thread iced purple! You can do it.

The poster didn't just ask about racist posts did she.

She asked about racist posts, and jealous posts.

She asked where they were.

I said I'm not going back though the whole thread for her. But I kindly quoted one jealous post for her.
