Meg’s era of joy

Triplesec · 06/10/2024 22:40

Showing up to support her very close friend who lost her child and also the children’s hospital at an evening gala. What a friend to have in the Duchess. Meghan was glowing, fresh faced, wore minimal makeup, was confidant and smiley. She was well spoken and supportive of the evening fund raiser when interviewed. Show Up, Do Good. Yes, she always does. Loved her look too.

The point is not that they are reporting about P.Diddy at all, it is that they are using sensationalist headlines to get clicks.

That is the tabloid style.

Which is why they used the word "monster" in the headline for the P.Diddy article

I had a look at the HR home page. The 'headline' you refer to is in a sidebar and not at all the main story, which is about the film 'Joker'. So if they're using it for clicks then they're not doing a very good job, as you'd have to seek out the article. And all publications want to attract readers. That doesn't mean they're 'tabloids'.

It's a stupid line of argument anyway. The bullying allegations were not denied, and Meghan belatedly came up with some silly story about visiting someone's husband in hospital as a transparent attempt at damage control. THR have stood by their story. WME, if they're still repping Meghan, did nothing to stop it going to press, despite being one of the most powerful agencies in Hollywood. The allegations are clearly true. Why all the contortions to try to claim otherwise?

About 20 years ago, many US schools stopped teaching history. That includes US history as well as global. Many of my family members teach. I also see this in my job. As a result, we have US citizens who are extremely uninformed.

We all had to endure the ARO rollout as well as the cooking show PR. If Meghan was happy as a simple housewife, we would have been spared all that PR. She seems set on some kind of career

This past summer was their " Summer of Love" campaign. She is now in her "Era of Joy". I hope the PR people don't move onto a "Winter of Discontent" 😁.

I often wonder why the obsessively minded dislikers of Harry and Meghan always come onto positive threads?

Wouldn't they be better starting their own negative thread?
Then they can obsess, grumble and moan negatively about Harry and Meghan to their hearts content.....

Oh fgs...

Public forums (fora?) like MN shouldn't have positive/negative threads - in other words, threads policed and censored by a self-important poster who want to operate in an echo chamber. As I've already said, if you can't take other points of view - Celebitchy is your friend.

And are there really people on MN who can take seriously a celebrity who declares their life is made up of 'eras'? And announces to the world her 'Era of Joy'? I cannot, just cannot believe that any adult wouldn't spit out their coffee at such self-importance and pretentiousness.

My Era of Joy - who on earth does Meghan think she is? Serious question for you there...

Hughs · 07/10/2024 12:49

I was responding to someone who was comparing Meghan and saying kate is a better person. But we don't know since kate puts out a curated image. The comparison isn't like for like.

Guess what - Meghan puts out a curated image too! Hence the cosmetic surgery, apart from anything else. You don't really think that you ever see the 'real' Meghan, do you? (Unless of course you are close to her irl, in which case apologies.)

@BemusedAmerican

Their inflated sense of worldly importance is off the scale.

Yes, I suspect a Winter of Discontent beckons.

Exactly she has to carefully present herself as pleasant, bland and non threatening.

I remember I once read a book written by someone who had worked with Princess Diana.

He said that Diana would be in a car on the way to an event, and she would be crying heavily.

And five minutes before they got there, someone would say to her "you must stop crying, you must put on your smiling face when you get out there".

And she put the pretend bland happy face on and got out. Princess Diana did this for so long, and then she eventually cracked.

Of course we are never going to see the current princess of Wales upset or angry. She's not allowed to be.

You MUST present yourself as happy, pleasant, non threatening and bland.

It’s work. I wouldn’t be letting my emotions out at work either. You put your good face on don’t you at work. Or maybe you let all your emotions out regardless 🤷‍♀️

My serious question to you is, what do you get out of all this pure negativity against a woman?

Do you lead a very sad life?
Wouldn't you like to feel a bit more happier, positive?
It is possible, you know.
Life's too short....

I taught history in both schools and museums. I've been depressed at what has happened to the UK curriculum in so many areas - and shocked at the ignorance about UK history and the constitution - never mind anywhere else - as well as many other things. Sadly, the evidence is here on MN as to the lack of basic knowledge even about pp's native country.

CoffeeCantata · 07/10/2024 12:55

If you want this thread more balanced or more in Meghan’s favour you’re going to have to keep up! Get those keyboard fingers working faster 😁

My life isn’t sad at all. In fact I’m very happy and content, (could even call it joyful 😁) have no particular worries etc but I don’t like Harry and Meghan and will contribute to threads about them if I want to.

I have the same colouring as Diana, and there's no way she was 'crying heavily' in the car on the way to an event, and five minutes later she could look her perfectly polished self. That's just sensationalist nonsense.

It's looking increasingly desperate to bring in Charles, Diana and Catherine onto a thread about Meghan's era of joy. The royal family have been grey rocking Meghan for about 5 years, so I just don't see the point of making comparisons any more. Their lives are just completely different. However, it has made me try to imagine Catherine standing with her legs apart, grabbing a woman's hand with both of hers and pushing it into her crotch while staring manically at the camera. Nope - can't imagine her (or anyone else) doing that.

CoffeeCantata · 07/10/2024 12:56

Ooh - that's unfair! I can be quite negative about some men, too!😃

You didn't answer the question.
Genuinely, what do get out of it?

When you're around 70 or 80 will you regret all this negativity or will you think 'job well done'?

Hughs · 07/10/2024 12:59

*What criteria, apart from your own personal opinion -

are you using to call the Hollywood Reporter "an established and respected trade magazine"?*

Well it's established because it's been around for nearly 100 years.

For respected, see a PP's helpful links to NYT and mediabiasfactcheck - plus plenty of other publications at the time of the Meghan bullying article commented on the HR's reputation and standing. That was partly the point - that this couldn't be dismissed as tabloid nonsense.

For trade magazine, have a look at the HR itself and you will see it's all about the movie industry.

I think Harry is the worse of the two and that’s saying something. So I’m not being mysogynstic or sexist as he’s even more awful than she is and if I had to (as in gun to my head) choose one to be my ‘friend’ I’d choose her over him.

Your first line could be pertaining to yourself?

Your post sounds so sad and bitter. I honestly and genuinely feel for you...

queenofarles · 07/10/2024 13:09

I think she really looked good, very youthful and glowy .
but goodness imagine being in your era of joy and the first person you see is Liz Cundy!
I think this is something Harry and Meghan do often , never stay and leave early , they did the exact thing in NY , Harry made a speech , Netflix took the footage they needed and just left.

Did Archwell make any donations to that hospital?

CurlewKate · 07/10/2024 13:12

@Comparisonisthethiefofjoy11 "She looks fuckin awful in that horrendous dress OP, get your glasses kn and have a good look at those saggy tits in that red dress, and why are her nipples looking inverted in it? Shameful"

Oh all right - I'll humour you! But only if you answer MY question too.

I was educated to think critically and to look beyond surface appearances. It was part of my training. I also come from a family who believed that people were worth more (or less, I guess) than their physical appearance. Of course I've questioned that - but I balk at fawning over people just because they are pretty and/or rich.

On a more precise note, I've watched with growing horror the way H & M (but particularly Meghan) have behaved towards both their families over the past few years. The spite, cruelty, jealousy and insults (which their victims were unable to publicly defend, and M & H know it) directed towards Catherine, William and Camilla in particular have shocked and depressed me. Meghan's role in starting the rumours about William's affair, for example. Wicked.

And all amid serious health scares for M's father, KC and Catherine. Vile. I think they are morally appalling - and their brazen publicity-seeking and posing as 'good people' makes it ten times worse. Horrible couple.

Now - will you answer my question, which was: Who does Meghan think she is?

Seriously - how do you think she sees herself now? Not how YOU see her - how she thinks of herself, her role, her value as a human being?

stillavid · 07/10/2024 13:14

I think she looked great - red is a great colour on her.

I would be very interested to know what work she is having done as it is very subtle and looks good.

Somehow I don’t think swallowing wholesale the propaganda put out by two floundering celebrities trying to shore up their public interest and cement a private income, while simultaneously checking my analytical and critical thinking brain at the door, will make me feel more positive.

Horses for courses though. If it works for you, that’s great!
