What to make of the fact that he appeared without Meghan and looked quite anxious and stressed?

What is the law in the USA about photographing and publishing photos of celebrities kids?

What do celebrities do to manage this and give kids normality?

Some such as the Beckham's seem to accept the intrusion as part of life and just get on with public life as a family.

Some such as Suri Cruise were always being papped?

Others like the Clooneys keep the kids hidden.

I wonder how M&H will manage this in the future? It's one thing to keep a 3 year old hidden but children need to experience the world and families need to do normal stuff together.

I have heard through a journalist (not a royal reporter though) that Meghan was overheard by a courtier saying 'This is really fucking boring. How long do we have to give it?'. They were surrounded by guests as she said it, and several turned to look at her. They were gone within 10 minutes, and I would think Harry half expected it if he knew that a courtier had heard. Have you seen the video of them leaving? It's Meghan's weird walk that makes me believe they were asked to leave.

And I heard that she then said “Haz, that fucking journo is lookin’at me all strange like” so he whisked her away after scowling at the that journo you are talking about! Mad that we both have THE SAME SOURCE.

Proof!

Royal meaning disloyal, venal, self serving,
and a liar?

Pretty much!

CathyorClaire · 30/09/2024 21:42

Despite being the ‘spare’ Harry would be a better king.

Infinitely better to have an elected HoS though.

I believe Jennifer Garner was part of a legal case in California trying to protect children from paparazzi. It was years ago though and I can't remember the details.

It will vary from State to State but overall royal children have more protection here than the US because of laws that were passed after Leveson. This is also why we don't see papped shots or those taken by the public of them out and about in the tabloids. They have some privacy until they turn 18 or graduate from university.

Siri Cruz’s mother was advised to keep as high a profile as possible due to the very real threat from Scientologists. That is in part why she chose to live in NY. Harder to get someone away in a car!

The Beckhams seem to sell the kids as part of the brand.

I should think that the Sussex children will be kept out of the public eye as much as possible. But - that leads to a bounty…

I agree @StrawberryWasp - of course he would stay stateside to be close to his DCs if anything happened with his marriage. Who wouldn't?

Yes, even if his marriage fails, I don't think for a minute that he wouldn't spend significant amounts of time in the US. It's difficult to move American children to another country without both parents' permission, so he'd have to spend time with them there. Mind you, even regular British tourists can spend up to 90 days in the US per visit without a visa, so he could technically move back to the UK and visit them for extended periods.

No disrespect but she's a bit long in the tooth, people like that always go younger.

I know what you mean, but Don Jr is 46 and his fiancée is 55!

She's been that fiancée for four years. It'll fizzle out according to gossip.

yesmen · 30/09/2024 21:57

He Has just had a huge success in NYC at the all the UN stuff.

And will also in the UK for his charity.

So true to form we have a lot of denigrating and going over old soil. When that fails, the popcorn is passed and the “maybe they’ll divorce” nastiness starts.

The barrel bottom is well and truly scraped.

The atrocious lack of leadership from the king is front and center of all this for me. He has been outshined his whole life and can’t take it. And he has spent his whole life training for a leadership role and he can’t do it.

BruFord · 30/09/2024 21:59

@yesmen What do you think Charles should be doing differently?

That's interesting about Siri Cruise!! I always wondered why she was in the papers.

I just wonder how you keep kids out of the public eye whilst having a normal life? When do they go to the shops, the park, the beach, Disney land, community events?
It only works if the press agree or legally aren't allowed to publish photos of kids, like with the British royal family where the kids are left alone.

I'm not sure what the legal situation will be in California?

'He Has just had a huge success in NYC at the all the UN stuff.'

How do you measure success? He's had some publicity, but doesn't appear to have achieved much. The 'UN stuff' would suggest you don't really know what he's achieved (or otherwise). He's given a few quite short speeches, mostly repeating speeches or interviews he's given before. Nothing concrete, the controversial has been kept behind closed doors (African Parks).

Bollocks!!! I think King Charles is just fine!!

Though Haz might be a better juggler.

EdithWeston · 30/09/2024 22:17

The King has been ill, so has been rather more behind closed doors than usual.

And of course Parliament is still in recess, and it's conference season. I expect things will start to pick up a bit next week

Well, I measure success by how the speech is received in the room and by the broadsheet reactions; by American press saying that he is turning into a Statesman (some British too) and by his consistency with projects he takes on.

I am sure if the UN wanted to do a dive on African Parks they would. As would the broadsheets.

For the most part he handles himself fairly well and I think he does not let himself, or us, down.

Don't you find it strange that this volte face (Harry the statesman - although I haven't seen that stated in black and white much) has happened in what? A week?

As for consistency, he's been hopping about between projects, and tbh, not making much impact in any of them, for the last couple of years.

Runnerinthenight · 30/09/2024 22:34

"A statesman"???

Man's a legend in his own lunchbox!

"So there" - are you 4?

It would be great if he is turning into a statesman and focused on drawing attention to important issues. It would be much better for him than books and interviews slagging off his family, a real sign that he's moving forward with his life.

I hope you're right @yesmen.
