The Guardian: Prince Harry at 40

Somewhat more even-keeled coverage of Prince Harry at 40 from Caroline Davies at The Guardian.

Arguably understated quite a few of Harry's recent achievements, eg Spare being the 2023 Nr 1 UK bestseller, or the phenomenal growth of Harry's Invictus Games which will now have 25 countries participating in Whistler/Vancouver February 2025. Little or no mention of the numerous awards Harry has won, eg most recently his ESPY Pat Tilman Award for Service and being named a Living Legend of Aviation, etc.

Anyway, nice to see an attempt at painting a more balanced, perhaps less hysterically rabidly negative picture...

Enjoy!

Prince Harry at 40: the difference a decade has made to the duke’s life

@Puzzledandpissedoff Re RFK Jr:
-Dumping a dead bear in Central Park.
-Cutting the head off a whale, tying it to the roof of his car, and transporting it over state lines.
-His second wife killed herself.
-Jack Schlossberg ( Caroline Kennedy's son) is posting videos telling people not to vote for RFK Jr.
-The where does he actually live question. He claimed he lives in NY when he lives in CA. A judge just took him off the NY ballot.

He's not looking like a viable candidate to me.

I'd add - there is no evidence that H&M tackled racism in the RF. What racism did they experience? What did they do to tackle it?

I must admit I am at loss as to what they did to tackle it. But Meghan at least must feel she did something substantial seeing as she saw fit to compare herself to Nelson Mandela.

My opinion is that although Trump and RFK may be very flawed individuals, both of them want to take back the US government from being firmly in the pockets of Big Pharma, Big Business, Big Tech and the like. It could hardly even be called a government anymore, it is ruled absolutely by giant, all-powerful corporations.
Kamala Harris is so inadequate that I don't believe anybody will be voting for her personally, but they may well be enough people who still believe enough in the party to vote, or just have always voted that way, or like the idea of Kamala and whatever she represents in their head.
I find it all completely fascinating. And I respect RFK and Trump for coming as far as they have considering all the media is absolutely in the power of the Democrats and so reporting is always biased.

I also find it interesting that RFK is called right-wing but when you look at what he stands for, it's incredibly similar to the left historically. But today's left is so far removed from what it once was, as to be almost unrecognisable, that RFK is now deemed right-wing. And Trump, whose policies represent very tradional right-wing values, is now deemed extreme/far-right. Its all fascinating.

Didn't know the one about the whale, BemusedAmerican - it's hard to know whether to laugh or cry Confused

I'd still think there must be more than what's already out there though, and know far too many whose brains seem to fall out as soon as the name "Kennedy" is mentioned. Even now, at least in Massachusetts, I find that you criticise any of them at your peril

This one, again by Jack Royston, is good for more than a few laughs:

"Footage of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry being cheered by crowds in England has gone viral after Prince William's trip to Scotland caught the attention of anti-monarchy campaigners."

I watched the footage, no idea if it was an accurate representation as is always the issue with footage online, but if accurate it certainly was embarrassing (for Prince William)...

"William was mocked in a series of posts on X by anti-monarchy campaigners, one of whom wrote: "William weaves his way through the crowds of well wishers in Aberdeen."
And a Harry and Meghan fan wrote: "Prince William is met by a huge crowd of 5 people in Aberdeen today. His security team fought hard to keep all 5 people away, somehow they managed to do so."

Surely a more appropriate comparison would be their individual (recent) receptions in NYC.

Here's coverage and footage of William's.

What was Harry's like?

Prince William Delighted His NYC Trip Was “Really Successful”

As William leaves the US following the Earthshot summit, sources told Vanity Fair that the prince is quietly pleased by how well he was received.

The really interesting part about William's walkabout after the fire house visit was that it was unplanned. Apparently people asked why the metal police barricades were in place at the firehouse, were told it was because of William, and decided to stay. People still comment favorably about William going for a run in Central Park, unrecognized, with just one security officer.

I don't know why Harry needed all that security to visit the tattoo place. It is in the LES, a very pricey neighborhood. He was perfectly safe. William was at more of a risk in the park.

It's a status thing.

It makes him look pretentious. He's been acting very new money to me since he came to the US.

I saw a clip on Twitter ( can’t find it now) of Harry jogging to his SUV surrounded by security much to the amusement of the person videoing who said there was barely a soul around ! L

Its also possible he suffers from paranoia. The NF doc also made it patently obvious Meghan enjoys winding him up by pretending to see paparazzi who simply are not there. So that won't have helped his mental state. Drug usage also exacerbates paranoia.
