What on earth has William got to apologise for? Having an extra sausage?! Writing a book trashing his family? Go on Netflix? Oprah Winfrey? The only one who should apologise is Harry.

And the tragic thing is, there's no apology that could mend or heal what he and Meghan have done to William, Catherine, Charles and Camilla (to name just the RF victims of 'their truth'. Never mind the disabled matron, the lady who 'took his virginity' (yuk), the palace servants who were just doing their job etc etc.

I'd say to him, if I were William: forget the apology. There's a wee cottage if you insist but please don't bother me and my family again.

I absolutely agree. Spot on as always @Puzzledandpissedoff

As ever you're extremely kind, MummyJ12, but I can't take the credit since it wasn't me who said it Smile

I wish it had been though ...

I know it was a meander and not an 'answer to the question' but I found the stuff about the 1930s and the support for Hitler interesting. I hadn't realised how much there was, from different directions.
(I did know that a relation of mine referred to Stalin as 'Uncle Joe', so it was nice to read it expressed like that by someone else. I think he was being very cynical when he said it. He lived through all the headlines of the 20s to the 60s and commented with scepticism. Yes, I know this would be best in 'history' so it stops here.)

I used to work in a museum which dealt with that period and heard first hand from people who'd suffered under both Hitler and Stalin.

One man had seen his whole family killed during the collectivisation of agriculture in the 30s. Up to a point, both the Nazis and the Soviets were able to control what the foreign press knew about their activities, but there was a lot of 'there are none so blind as those who will not see' going on too. And we know it still goes on today - politicians turn a blind eye to nasty things going on in regimes they find it convenient to support. But I think the Nazis and the Soviet Union under Stalin were slightly different in that what they did was ideologically driven, not just pragmatic horrors.

(orry - not relevant to the thread!!)

@Getonwitit the difficulty I have is that there are always three sides, their side, the other side and the actual facts of the situation. The press have spent so much time enthusiastically trashing them and portraying the monarchy’s version as facts, who knows what’s true anymore. I’m just sick of it all and there are surely more important things to focus on like improving our education system, funding our NHS, looking after our SEN children etc to go on about them.

There are certainly more important things to focus on but yet we are both are on a thread discussing H&M. Of course there is always many sides to a story but are you saying we shouldn't actually believe the words M spoke during the Oprah interview? If that's not a lie then what is ?

Oops! Huge apologies. Well, I agree with you on it being a very insightful post. 😊

@lemonpepperlady apologies and yes, brilliant post there!

(lesson learned for speed reading through a thread to catch up, while not really having the time to be on here at all because it’s school run time! 😂)

Puzzledandpissedoff · 04/09/2024 12:03

They must hire really inexperienced staff (possibly below market salaries in return for the 'cachet' of working for them)

If they are, @Thedom, then they're only following the practices of the rest of the RF. The difference is that some genuinely high level people seem to be willing to work for the palace, though never ask me why

Edited to add there's nothing to apologise for, @MummyJ12 ... I've done the same myself, as I'm sure we all have at times Smile

Imanontoday · 04/09/2024 07:44

No, they aren’t, and I suspect this is in part why people leave. Well past the fact they are clearly impossible to work for, demanding and rude. They don’t do things correctly, nor seek or follow advice, and as such they fail.

if I worked for someone who was launching a brand, who failed to send the cheque, signed the wrong documents, didn’t do a search, launched before anything was in place. I’d also leave. It is noddy town.

To be fair at this level staff prepare the cheque, present to the boss who signs and returns to staff member.

Do they still prefer cheques in USA?

The Guardian was founded by transatlantic slave-owners, supported the quashing of Indian resistance under British colonialism on the basis of the superiority of their imperial masters, supported the Confederates against Lincoln in the American War of Independence, and gave not one jot of thought to the Palestinians when they supported the Balfour Agreement. Oh, and they thought the NHS would result in too much riff riff surviving. I really don't see the point in dredging through the pasts of any institution to condemn them for attitudes that at the time were mainstream/not controversial/abhorrent by today's standards of morality but not by the standards of the time. If you want to go down that route, no American should ever vote Democrat.

Someone on here a while ago showed that the Guardian and another national paper were receiving donations from American moguls. Amongst them the Gates Foundation. It's the price of survival.

'Makes a change from forelock tugging'

'And fawning'

Have I found a treat for you, my dear friends! As you all don't know, I'm a massive fan of Jonathan Pie, the satirical ranty news reporter, and I've found a short (3 mins) video from the time of H&M's departure from these fair shores. He mentions 'fawning', oh yes. Best use of 'fawning' ever, possibly.

Having said that, I don't think it's particularly going to please the south saxon skwod, though, if they watch it. Oh dear.

Jonathan Pie is feckin marvellous, and this hits the H&M nail on the head. Just had to re-post it!
Btw-slightly off topic-I'm surprised they haven't complained/sued about being referred to as 'H&M' on the grounds it's not an 'up market' enough store for them🤣🤣

Clearly this isn’t the case. Becasye either they are doing it themselves or they employ utter amateurs and provide no supervision. You’d think for this level it was what you say, but clearly it isn’t as it is so utterly wrong , on every level.

I can pay most bills online in NY, including my income tax bill. Not sure about the Feds.I think they are moving more slowly than the states.

GorgeousTulips · 04/09/2024 12:40

For all their grand pronouncements about their ‘Office’ it clearly isn’t up to much. They themselves appear to do no actual work of any consequence.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 04/09/2024 12:55

What on earth has William got to apologise for?
Surely for pushing H into the dog bowl??!!

Harold probably had it coming. I suspect William has put up with a lot over the years, which we will never hear about.

I once assumed that carefully curated megadesk they've been pictured at, replete with expensive candles and them barefoot in neutral cashmere and linen loungewear, was the soft focus face of Brand Sussex, with all the real work being done by a team elsewhere.

Now I think that is actually the organisation, H&M, attempting to run their "empire" solo and screwing up in the way only those who are impervious to advice and guidance on matters about which they know nothing can. It's the only thing that could explain the amateurish nature of ARO.

I feel sorry for him but he did marry the wrong woman. Hence all this trouble had he took his brothers advice all this may not have occurred. But l hope he comes home and helps out because right now he ought be at his brothers side. If he will have him.

Why would you encourage a man who is dealing with his wife’s and father’s cancer diagnoses to allow a toxic, selfish, cold hearted, brattish manboy back in his life? Would you under those same circumstances?

We know that Harry was/is handy with his fists - such as the unprovoked and 'hilarious' (from H's point of view) attack on the Foo Fighters drummer. I think he also punched one of his security man too, just for laughs - all people who I'm sure felt unable to retaliate due to his status.

I bet William had had it up to here with him!

Of course, Seumas Milne, the architect of Corbynism and Corbyn's greatest ally, STILL loves Stalin and was writing lengthy defences of him (and of Kim Jong Un) whilst he was a columnist for the Guardian.

@lemonpepperlady I so wish people like this would just get on a plane and go and live in N. Korea.

@Uricon2 - I thought the chairs looked to uncomfortable to do any actual work. And the set up wouldn't pass any kind of UK display screen assessment Grin.

For display purposes only.

That's what is confusing. Here you send off the evidence electronically, questions are asked, complete ball ache, satisfy all queries then pay electronically online.

The last one I did Welsh government demanded money upfront and still blocked my licence for the oddest reasons. I had to physically call a human being to sort it out. In the meantime getting threatening emails. Took a month to sort.

Perhaps the American patent office are as disorganised as the Welsh one 🤷‍♂️

This trademark ARO thing, she can’t have the name because it’s after a place name (even if it’s a nickname)

So this means…she can keep it (knowing that people will also use it) or she can change it so it can be given a TM?

It really does look shoddy. She’s had a soft launch 6 months ago, we are all none the wiser what on earth it actually is, it doesn’t have any products, doesn’t have a CEO, doesn’t have a website, who know if it has staff or it’s just megsy filing off the cheques to the patent office sans cheques.

If she’s looking for investors, they will run a mile. It makes no sense to get involved in this mess.

Same with her investments. Cesta collection, has had a lot of scrutiny in the last week, a small business usually doesn’t have to deal with that level of press. There’s only two of them that work for the company, how can they cope? I think small firms will want to move away from Meghan backing them publicly.
I suspect Serena, whose thing is about women investing, has rubbed off in Meghan and she thinks she can do the same. The problem is bad press follows Meg wherever she goes, and companies can’t take a risk.

So there's a place with that daft convoluted long name. I thought the Welsh held that crown,🤣
