I don’t think she has charisma. In fact it is one of the vital ingredients she lacks. My opinion of course.

So according to the Mail Harry has no interest in returning, translated as he’s tested the waters, seen the response from the public and William’s team, now he’s backtracking, no doubt his PR team will have been scanning the comments section of all the papers and will have seen the unsupportive comments to put it mildly. Nice try Harold.

Your translation is right! The fact is, nobody in the rf trusts him and the public don't want whinging Ginger. Those who like having a monarchy want "normal" royals who open schools, cut ribbons, attend the palace when foreign dignitaries visit, are polite and respectful, don't hog the limelight and don't wash their linen in public.

I've always thought Harry looks like his aunt Sarah, Diana's sister, same red hair.

Well there’s no disputing Diana was his mother. 😁

BigWillyLittleTodger · 03/09/2024 10:02

I agree that she has no charisma which is why it’s laughable that Harry thinks she is Diana 2.0 (and so does Meghan) Whatever Diana’s faults she had charisma in buckets, it’s not something you can fake, it’s innate, not only does she lack charisma she also lacks humour and self deprecation, all her cos play humanitarian, feminist and huggy huggy persona is fake and most people can see that a mile off, she really is the empty vessel as portrayed in South Park.

JADS · 03/09/2024 10:05

I agree I do think Meghan has some smarts and a ruthless determination. It's why I find their failure to launch quite something.

One thing she can't do is laugh at herself. It's why the Beckham docusoap went down better because they poked fun at themselves. I think Meghan thought she was being funny with her curtsey story, but it just made her look stupid.

JADS · 03/09/2024 10:06

Harry is also an empty vessel. It seems harsh to lay that just on Meghan.

I strongly suspect Harry doesn’t think that any more…

Weird that the Queen Mum, who herself had two children, one of whom became the monarch while the other remained the 'spare', accepted that, but in the case of two of her many great grandchildren in a parallel situation, felt something had to be done to redress the balance. And all this at the point when Harry was expected to remain a working royal with all the advantages and Palace living that brings. Really odd that she'd have felt so strongly about making it up to him and him only.

Exactly.

What about her 4 great grandchildren through Margaret? Who would not grow up with the benefits of being royal? I'm not sure if they were all born during her lifetime, but at least some of them were. Did they not deserve any of her generosity? What was so special about Harry?

Marrying an intellectually and emotionally stunted prince is hardly an achievement, more a stroke of good fortune, not in the sense of Harry being a catch, but in catapulting her to a level of fame and status she could only have dreamed of. She did have some low level hustling skills, but if you look at the caliber of her husband, it probably didn't take too much.

But if she's such a savvy player, how come, despite having global fame and lucrative contracts thrown at her, 4 years on she has nothing to show for it? A street smart hustler would know that how ruthless the entertainment business is, and how you don't get a big chance twice. Meghan has wasted the opportunities gifted to her, and she's not going to have them again.

Despite it being the Mail, at a stretch I could just about believe that

I mentioned much earlier in the thread that it could be someone flying a kite, and it certainly wouldn't be the first time a RF member had done it

Did she hustle though? Daddy was an award winning lighting director, first husband Trevor was a film producer, she’s always had an ‘in’ through the men in her life.

CoffeeCantata · 03/09/2024 10:27

I am sure they thought they would be welcomed into and moving amongst the big hitters in Hollywood circles, they are not and that door will remain firmly closed as they are not trusted.

I agree that this is one of their biggest problems in both business and personal life, and it's all their own fault. No-one, family, friends or prospective business partners will ever trust them again. They know that conversations and confidences will be sold for dollars at some point if H & M ever have cause to feel aggrieved (which is potentially ALL the time).

How stupid they've been. And as time goes on, even Meghan's much-threatened revelations will seem stale and less plausible after her exposure as a liar in other contexts.

Uricon2 · 03/09/2024 10:28

I was a bit dubious from the beginning that she claimed to know little or nothing about the RF, Diana included, but gave her the benefit of gushing a bit (pressure of interviews, etc) but really couldn't believe she hadn't done a Google deep dive on the Prince she was dating. It was disingenuous and as we now know part of a pattern of such.

There were times years ago when I thought Harry did have some of his mother's charisma and way with people, but now as we've found out that (apparently) he was unhappy and hated royal tours and engagements, it seems utterly fake. He was possibly a better actor than his wife, at least back then.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 03/09/2024 10:30

Harry should go into acting, I think that’s his hidden talent, he had me convinced for years he was a cheeky chappy fun loving, family loving guy! An Oscar worthy performance.

The former is about always being on the move, keeping one's ear to the ground, being in the right place at the right time, saying the right thing and presenting the right face. It's about short term moves and tactics. And yes, it takes talent. Not everyone has it

Yet she blew the biggest opportunity of her life by doing the exact opposite.

Tigger1895 · 02/09/2024 21:52

I seriously give up. Why do people believe everything they read in that rag? Do you honestly think they could possibly know this, when they didn’t even know he would attend the memorial service for his aunts husband? Oh, BTW, he said he had no intention of coming back in his interview with Anderson Cooper.

The DM has been very good on picking up on transgender nonsense.

Pity Palace PR couldn't have done a better number on Randy Andy (who, however sleazy, has done nothing wrong illegal and not betrayed his family in the way Hazbeen has).

I agree. She doesn't have charisma. I don't mind Kate but she doesn't really have charisma. Diana had it in abundance.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/09/2024 10:43

Some very valid points about the challenges of Harry's time at Eton, @AutumnCrow, but then that was still a time when just being a RF member would be enough to get you in - ditto leading Unis, etc.

I could well be wrong but would like to hope most of the royal parents would have more sense now. Certainly I don't see W&K encouraging a placement so totally unsuited to their children's abilities, but time will tell

"Charisma" is a really overused word. Very few people actually have it.

I agree that Diana, for all her faults, had charisma in spades. Even people who were cynical about her said they could not take their eyes off her in person. She just had 'it'.

I can't think of any other royal who I'd describe as 'charismatic'. And that's OK. "Charisma" isn't the be all and end all.

justasking111 · 03/09/2024 10:52

I know a family member with charisma, his grandfather had it. It's entertaining to observe when it's a relative you know very well. But it is rare.

friendlycat · 03/09/2024 10:56

The problem is that they just don't have anything to "sell" apart from themselves.

Nobody is going to throw mega dollars at them just for being Harry and Meghan.

But they have wasted opportunities as well and their high turnover of staff and advisers indicate that they are unwilling to listen to professional advice. Plus their own actions aptly demonstrate this.

When they do support initiatives they just appear shallow, vacuous and hypocritical. All the "be kind" etc is so far removed from their own actions towards both of their families that it makes whatever they say as nonsense since they don't practice what they preach.

They don't come across as people with charisma and empathy. Unfortunately, everything Meghan does just comes across as promoting Meghan.

They are also trying to live a life on a par with the A list movers and shakers that is both expensive and shallow as they haven't actually done anything to be worthy of such an accolade. Others in that sphere have achieved their success due to their talents whatever they may be.

They also do appear increasingly so to want different things out of live. Meghan huge star status and Harry who knows anymore.
