Netflix deal, looking like it may be over for H&M

The rumours have been doing the rounds for a while, but Puck News now reporting it, which means it is very likely that their contract with Netflix will not be renewed.

"The streamer is not expected to renew its five-year, $100 million deal signed in 2020 with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Meghan’s passion project, the animated kids show Pearl, has already been canceled, and the unscripted cooking and polo offerings didn’t connect the way the royal couple’s Harry & Meghan did. "

Would you not think that’s a bolt hole where he can indulge his tastes for mind altering substances, and escape the home knitted yoghurt etc?

Another article from June this year about assistants hired for Ashley. You can still read it without having to accept cookies or pay. This is about the hire of the UK PR guy, Charlie Gipson, who is reporting to Ashley Hansen,

Harry and Meghan's timing of latest key move 'not a coincidence'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were praised for their 'successful' Nigeria tour which was said to coincide with a recent key hire.

How do they afford to pay these people and why do they have such grand titles when they are working for two private individuals?

Toastbuttermarmaladetea · 02/09/2024 08:43

I don't know about the first question @JSMill . Without an obvious source of steady, continuous income, I assume they are just using the rapidly dwindling funds from their previous deals. Either that, or they are actually selling stories to the US tabloids on a regular basis to generate and income to pay these people.

The grand titles for staff is just their way of self aggrandising by extension. It's all part and parcel of the pathetic royal-lite "Office" that they run. Archewell isn't even a foundation in the true legal or moral sense, it's a grubby charity registered in Delaware where 95% of its receipts can be used on "costs".

I also read that Ashley was part of their "Global Communications Team". Unfortunately, she has quit - correct me if I'm wrong - (please use Google) the 9th member of staff to quit in a short space of time?
Anyway. If you have a Global Communications Team, you're not going to shy away from the tabloids.

Was Ashley the aide who tried to move Meghan along the red carpet at some event ? Allegedly at the request of Margo Robbie ?

Toastbuttermarmaladetea · 02/09/2024 09:07

Yes @Mylovelygreendress she's "The Hand" 😂. I didn't know MM was holding up Margot Robbie! That's hilarious. Although, didn't she have a few dates with Harry back in the day?

Edited to add, just looked it up. They were rumoured to be stepping out together in Spring 2016. Not long before he met Meghan, then, if their stated timeline is in fact correct.

I don’t know about that but I do know that Google is your friend !! 😂😂

Do you think his need to return to the U.K. every so often is something to do with his visa conditions? Perhaps he has to have a home in the U.K., and use it x times a year, to prove he's not a permanent U.K. resident.

Perhaps one of them snores. It must be difficult to get some peace and quiet in a 16 room.mansion...

I don't think Archewell do bio's on their website of their leadership team nor their board members, I think H&M are the only two who are listed. Guess it would be a full time job keeping it updated with their revolving door of employees.

Makes it difficult to see who is employed by them or if there are people acting in a freelance / consultancy capacity .

You can stay in the US for up to six months if you don't have permanent residency, if you are a British citizen. I know people who have flown back and forth in order to comply with that. However H was in the USA for about a year without leaving during 2020/21. I suspect he got his permanent residency rushed through without jumping the normal hurdles because he is who he is. I find that really pissing off because I have seen what a stressful process it is through friends and family.

Toastbuttermarmaladetea · 02/09/2024 10:21

The conjecture from the US FOI case on his visa is that he has an A1 (head of state) visa. Even if he isn't, I doubt he would have to do the toing and froing the plebs have to do to stay the right side of Homeland Security.

Wow - that IS hilarious.

Meghan, dear - do be an angel and move along the bus for a really talented star!

Vespanest · 02/09/2024 10:54

Pondering because I’m bored, the visa may have been sent back querying that to hold a special visa should come with actually doing what the visa is given for and in harry case a working royal. Especially as they it being reported of US funding security in New York.

WinnieTheW0rm · 02/09/2024 11:07

IF he has a "head of state" visa that's still in date (or perhaps they're issued without an end date, with former HoS still allowed entry as a courtesy, unless actively cancelled) then perhaps he fears it will be rescinded because of the actions of the Heritage Foundation.

Because by no stretch is he representing the UK

So he'll have to transfer to another type of visa - surely there's some sort of spouse visa (or wealthy person visa) he'd be eligible for? Which would mean he could stay indefinitely without leaving US periodically.

My best guess is that he's just a bit homesick - it hits expats at differing times and with differing intensity.

JSMill · 02/09/2024 11:37

I agree that he's possibly a bit homesick. I have lived in a couple of different countries and have lots of friends and relatives who move around. It hits everyone eventually IME. I don't think it helps H that he is cut off from his family and apparently most of his friends. Being able to catch up with your support network from home, by phone or whatever, really helps. At the beginning, the new environment can be very exciting but as it becomes your mundane every day existence, you start to think about home and what you left.

I used to live in a house with three bathrooms.
Even that small amount made me feel quite flush.

This

waking up to sunshine everyday and not having seasons, doesn’t feel natural after a while. You weirdly miss the weather

User14March · 02/09/2024 13:21

Not necessarily, CA is a TOTAL upgrade on the weather re: UK for some, ESPECIALLY with little kids.

CoffeeCantata · 02/09/2024 13:35

Twistybranch - I'm with you on the eternal sunshine of California!

There's a saying - I can't remember the exact wording - that we enjoy the good things partly because of the bad things in life. If you never have rain (which I quite like, actually) then you don't really appreciate the sunshine.

I know that Bill Bryson returned to the UK after taking his family back to the States for a while because he missed the four seasons, which you don't get in some places in America.

I'm a cool/temperate girl, myself. I like the cool, wet weather here and appreciate the sunny days when we get them. Harry's had nearly 7 years of non-stop sunglasses weather now - I bet even that shallow twit sometimes misses the misty moors or the sharp, fresh feel of an autumn morning.

I'd agree absolutely.
I lived for a couple of years in South America and missed the seasons and also - since we were pretty much on the equator - the lengthening and shortening of the days.
But I'm someone who - if I had to choose - would rather be too cold than too hot.
