Netflix deal, looking like it may be over for H&M

The rumours have been doing the rounds for a while, but Puck News now reporting it, which means it is very likely that their contract with Netflix will not be renewed.

"The streamer is not expected to renew its five-year, $100 million deal signed in 2020 with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Meghan’s passion project, the animated kids show Pearl, has already been canceled, and the unscripted cooking and polo offerings didn’t connect the way the royal couple’s Harry & Meghan did. "

I honestly think William is going to remove their titles the moment that crown is on his head. Literally. He'll be running out of Westminster Abbey to the Crown Office the very second that thing is lowered into his pate by the archbishop, lol

I think unless something drastic happens they'll wait it out.

As soon as Wales kids hit adulthood focus will be on them not aging Sussex's - they start settling down and having kids the Sussex's get rapidly pushed down in succession and importance.

I think William will remove the Prince and Princess titles from Archie and Lily, can you imagine how Meghan Harry will set them up as rivals to the Wales children when they are of age? William needs to stop that before it starts.

I agree. It always amuses me when people, often supporters of Meghan and Harry, dismiss any mention of the Gloucesters and Kents, because “who are those irrelevant old fogeys that I’ve never heard of?”. When that is exactly the future of Harry in Meghan in time.

CarmelaBrunella · 28/08/2024 13:21

I think they tried to future proof the daughter with that name - Princess Lilibet Diana 🙄

QueenOfHertz · 28/08/2024 13:21

I don’t think William will remove the royal HRH Dukedom otherwise Meghan will be Princess Henry of Wales and will style herself Princess Meghan which is exactly what she wants.

QueenOfHertz · 28/08/2024 13:23

Maybe just Princess Henry - the Wales bit is obsolete now. Princess Henry of Nofixedabode

I suspect that they wanted the high profile tiaras and meeting foreign VIPs rather than the small engagements.

The Sussexes swerved Trump’s visit to London and I suspect that this was proof that half in wouldn’t work - the RF have to meet and entertain who they are told to and personal preference can’t feature into it as they are the public face of UK diplomacy.

If they wanted to live like Zara then that would have been fine imo but they’d have to let go their jealousy of William and Catherine and not try to fight for equal roles to them.

I agree that they only wanted the glam high profile bits which is why I was wondering how they thought it would work in practice. It probably comes down to the fact that they both thought, as pp have said, that their “star power” meant they could do this. This shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the Royal family’s role, which is understandable to a large extent on Meghan’s behalf, but is somewhat baffling from Harry. Unless he too was so dazzled by Meghan he thought they would be able to transcend the normal state of affairs

SmileyHappyPeopleInTheSun · 28/08/2024 13:27

I think William will remove the Prince and Princess titles from Archie and Lily,

I suppose they could issue more Letters patent and restrict princess and princess title to direct line - Prince Edward children are a good example of choosing to do that - and there are Nordic countries who've done similar.

Archie would still be Duke of Sussex in time.

The children may not be an issue - depend on their personality, press interest - etc.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 28/08/2024 13:30

I think that if any changes are going to be made then it needs to be before the children are adults. For example can Archie and Lili pass down their titles or is it just Archie as the oldest ? Making the Sussex titles revert to the crown after their deaths may be the simplest thing to do so that you children have the chance at an anonymous adult life if they’d like.

Yes and the Duke of Gloucester's 80th this week. Properly qualified in a profession (architecture) then unexpectedly the next Duke after a family tragedy. Gave up the career he loved to become a working royal and support the RF. Gave up his KP apartment for M &H who then never moved in (hopefully this was a planned downsize)

He and his wife are admirable, hardworking and actually a demonstration of what modern royalty is about.

Also Meghan now has the new title of Dolphin

That's spooky, @Twistybranch - I was just reading that piece by Graham Zellick independently of your post!

And yes, this senior KC makes a very good case for Letters Patent doing the full job.

The more publicity this gets, the better.

Twistybranch · 28/08/2024 14:08

Meghan in NYT:

“Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting,” she said. “That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring.”

Yet she walks about with a black bra under a white shirt, and sweaty stains on skirts!

Twistybranch · 28/08/2024 14:10

Also those really great friendships with smaller brands she talking about in the article……means she gets free stuff from them because she can’t get the big designer labels for nothing!

The Prince title can be removed by the Monarch, the Duke title has to go through parliament.

Twistybranch · 28/08/2024 14:32

The line:

“That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring.”

From the woman who travels around the world to tell women and girls they should be empowered and how empowered she is and all the work she does to empower other women…because ..she wears, like, an earring

Surely the Palace must know all this? Maybe William should be tapping up this guys advice!

Twistybranch · 28/08/2024 14:42

And love the ‘pick me girl’ line too:

“When people are online looking for things or reading things, I’m trying to find great new designers, especially in different territories.”

I mean it’s comical that she doesn’t see it.

I really hope the the cookery show does make it to air because it will be full of the same pick me girl vibes:

‘I don’t measure, I don’t weigh, I don’t time….I can tell by the looking/smelling/touching’

Serenster · 28/08/2024 15:12

Lucky Meghan doesn’t have an instagram account any longer, really, as she’d fall foul of the Advertising Standrad Authority’s rules on ads and paid promotions quite quickly by the sound of it!

Not2identifying · 28/08/2024 15:26

I think that when William's children are young adults, the letters patent will be changed to say that in the future all duchies will revert to the crown (like Edward's Edinburgh title) and that only the children of the monarch or direct heir will be Prince/Princess. It will apply to Charlotte and Louis as well so won't look like they are solely targeting Archie and Lili. If H&M (or indeed Archie and Lili themselves) object it will sound very odd when they have not had a link to the UK for so long.

If they decide not to do anything, I think it will only be a matter of time before Archie and/or Lili end up finding the Prince/Princess titles burdensome (e.g. they attract press attention and there is some 'public interest' justification for this while they are officially Prince/Princess of the United Kingdom). So they'll wait for a scandal and then act.

There is recent precedent for removing titles from the children of a younger son (Danish Royal Family) so maybe they will act sooner.

I'd pay to see a Meghan/Gordon Ramsay cookery collaboration 😈

"American Riviera Orchard Nightmares", anyone?

Janiie · 28/08/2024 15:36

It's all so predictable yet strangely I pity him. We all knew the interest would dry up once he'd spilt the beans on his version of events Royal Family wise, why couldn't he see that was all he had to offer commercially?

Yes we've all laughed at his atrocious oversharing over the last 7yrs, his delusions of granduer with the weird faux royal tours but for a grown man he's surely been manipulated and used and it's all rather tragic.

Because they thought they were the stars and could name their price ( so to speak).

Yes, they were carried away with their arrogance and entitlement, thinking the following and cheering was for them as individuals, rather than them being part of the royal family.
