Welcome to Part 7 of our positive threads, where we explore all things Meghan and Harry. From the causes they champion and their business ventures to Meghan’s (and occasionally Harry’s 😉) fashion moments, there’s a lot to chat about. This is a drama-free space, so let’s keep it upbeat! High five to @queentim for the original inspiration.

Sorry but I think that’s a very strange view. Not to mention rather patronising!

I certainly don’t have posters of H & M on my bedroom wall thanks 😀

Maybe you have a framed photo of Charles and Camilla on your mantelpiece? If you did, how would that be any different exactly?

You honestly feel queasy reading some posts on this thread? A little hyperbolic surely?

You can’t imagine any other reasons for people feeling favourable to H & M other than complicated ones you make up in your own head?

I am not romanticising H and M at all!

But if that is the way you choose to frame my view of them, which is incorrect btw, I fail to see how your view of the RF is any different?

The RF have teams of people working for them who curate their image!

They are as rich as Croesus and make visits to poor countries.

Their accounts aren’t transparent.

They are acutely interested in their popularity ratings and liaise with the press to plant positive stories about them in newspapers.

They spend lots of money on clothes.

Can someone explain to me what’s any different?

Why on earth would someone spend good money on a Duchy of Lancaster tea towel or a Highgrove mug? Or dress up in a Union Jack themed suit and spend all night in a tent in the rain by the side of the road waiting for the King to drive past in a golden carriage?

If that’s not Romanticism I don’t know what is!

And if you don’t personally do those things, please don’t accuse me of them either!

You don't make your argument any stronger by being snippy, n'est-ce pas?

Finistereoverthere · 25/08/2024 19:09

Runnerinthenight · 25/08/2024 18:52

Dear me. It's my opinion. I will voice that opinion if the mood takes me, thank you very much. I don't need to be patronised either.

I'm only a few years younger and I can see straight through the pair of them. I don't admire them one bit. I think their behaviour has been terrible. What the poster you're defending has been saying comes directly in the category of 'fangirling' and I just find it rather sad. I don't revere anyone in that way, nor am I "enthralled" by anyone. I'm not that bothered whether they're happy or not but I don't wish them any ill. I just wish they would shut up tbh!

Well then we are on the same page in that case Runner.

You are not fan-girling the RF.

And I am not fan-girling H & M.

Neither of us enjoy being patronised.

And both of us want to be free to air our differing opinions. .

So what’s the problem?

I only heard the phrase fan-girling for the first time today on this thread in actual fact.

BustingBaoBun · 25/08/2024 19:10

I'm always amused by the assertion that these people "aren't really fans of theirs" and "don't care either way" but then spend ages writing multiple lengthy posts defending them and normally pointing fingers at the RF.

I'm always amused by the assertion that people wish Meghan and Harry would go away, shut up, keep quiet, but then spend ages trawling the media reading everything about them and writing multiple posts all about how awful they are, thereby making sure the couple stay in the limelight.

Runnerinthenight · 25/08/2024 19:12

Finistereoverthere · 25/08/2024 10:40

Oh I see now!

Their greed is “special”!

To take Scotland as one example, the fact that the RF own 37,000 hectares (91,000 acres) of rural land, rights to fish for wild salmon and sea trout, rights to naturally occurring gold and silver across the country including virtually all the seabed out to 12 nautical miles (22.2km)

is purely out of the goodness of their hearts!

Thank you! I get it now! 😀

Rude...!

I think the couple stay in the limelight because that's what they are actively trying to do.

How do you know?! You weren’t part of the thread. The Netflix link was concrete evidence of the point that I was making which is why I was asked (challenged) about the source of the information. Ridiculous of you to make this comment when you don’t know the facts about the thread.

Edited

I am referring to the comment you made on this thread actually. I thought you, or someone else, was saying Netflix viewing figures were part of your evidence against them, generally speaking? Sorry but I don’t read every RF thread.

Runnerinthenight · 25/08/2024 19:14

Finistereoverthere · 25/08/2024 10:48

Bit of a back track there Coffeecantata

You equate my view of H and M with adolescent romanticism, to quote your words,

I remember being like that when I was 14. I adored my idols, read every word about them, wouldn't hear a word against them, pinned pictures up on my bedroom wall and basically wove a fantasy about them

And when I ask how having a framed photo of Charles and Camilla on your mantelpiece would be any different, you “suddenly” don’t understand?

How convenient!

I don't see any backtracking and I totally agree with @CoffeeCantata. And here you are being snippy and rude again. It's ok for you then?!

Runnerinthenight · 25/08/2024 19:18

Finistereoverthere · 25/08/2024 11:41

Well yes, essentially! Not much different to what you Royalists are saying to me!

You choose to interpret press stories and events one way, while I choose to look at them in a different light.

That’s what it boils down to in the end.

There are so many posters on these threads who ALWAYS interpret the actions of the RF as benign and good, and whatever H & M do as malevolent and selfish, so their opinions can’t exactly be described as objective either.

None of us know for sure where the truth lies. Like in most family disputes, the blame is probably shared. I think Harry should have been more patient and stayed longer to work things out, and the RF should have been less intransigent.

The difference is I don’t start endless negative threads against one of the parties believing I know all of the facts.

And I see so many criticisms being made against H & M and no mention when the RF do exactly the same thing and in those situations, I tend to favour the underdogs.

Edited

They are far from "underdogs"!!! The shit has alllllll been thrown one way!!! I am sure there's acres of Harry's antics that wouldn't paint him in a good light, yet none of them have been leaked. Don't you think that's strange if you are so convinced the palace has been leaking info? Leaking what info??

I am referring to the comment you made on this thread actually. I thought you, or someone else, was saying Netflix viewing figures were part of your evidence against them, generally speaking? Sorry but I don’t read every RF thread.

It was an example, but it referred to a different thread and I posted as much if you had read my post carefully. So no you can’t comment on it if you weren’t part of it. I always link when asked. Unlike you who isn’t able to.
I’m sure you’re not on every thread as you don’t care and aren’t much of a fan of H&M….or so you say….again!
Please stop engaging with me, and referring to my posts trying to be unnecessarily goady.

I started off trying to be polite Runner but I got accused of being a naive romanticist. And told to start a new thread or post elsewhere.

I was only engaging with you because you replied to one of my posts. Happy to desist but I object to being called goady when I am simply putting forward my opinion the same way you are.

Have a good evening.

Runnerinthenight · 25/08/2024 19:24

@Finistereoverthere "And as explained previously, I think it’s downright bizarre and unfair when they are accused of greed when somehow the RF are not!"

Do you really think it's not greedy to sell your family's private, personal information to make money??? I think it's revolting. The RF has inherited their fortune. They aren't the only fantastically wealthy families in the UK. Are you also berating them? And Harry has huge wealth derived from his membership of the RF!

Runnerinthenight · 25/08/2024 19:25

Finistereoverthere · 25/08/2024 19:20

Is it really rude to state facts in an admittedly sarcastic manner?

Yes, especially when you've patronised another poster accusing them of the same! It's hypocrisy.

Runnerinthenight · 25/08/2024 19:27

Finistereoverthere · 25/08/2024 19:02

I think they have cut themselves off from a considerable chunk of it haven’t they?

Perhaps the privacy of their dc was more important to them?

I doubt that very much. William's children are only seen in public when their parents choose to bring them with them, and they're the children of the heir.

They cut themselves off from a considerable chunk of it because they are avaricious and greedy and want to make even more! It just wasn't enough!!

MummyJ12 · 25/08/2024 19:28

Finistereoverthere · 25/08/2024 18:34

And there was me thinking that you all supplied endless indisputable “facts” and hard evidence for your assertions, or that was what I was told a few posts back, but that’s ok of course 😀 because they are all relentlessly negative towards H&M!

I don’t see how or what I have posted is any different tbh.

This was the post that I found unnecessary. Then you argued with me regarding my posts. It’s goady.

@MummyJ12 you are one of a number of posters whose posts I really respect. You support your insightful and intelligent comments with actual linked evidence - I don't have anything like your expertise.

It bugs me when people make propositions because it's their opinion but no facts to back them up!

MummyJ12 · 25/08/2024 19:33

Thanks so much @Runnerinthenight I really appreciate that 😊

I apologise for upsetting you in that case MummyJ12

That remark was intended generally and not aimed specifically at you and I should have made that much clearer. I’m sorry.

It does get unnecessarily combative on these threads, so even if you start off posting your viewpoint politely, so many posters seem to take umbrage and reply at the same time quite forcefully , that you end up replying in kind. Or more forcefully than you would do ordinarily let’s say!

It’s interesting actually why exactly this topic is such a combative one. I can’t quite work it out tbh!
