C5 Documentary: Harry and Meghan, Rise and Fall

Anyone watching this? It's on My5. I thought the first episode was interesting. I was reminded of how popular they were and how much support they got.

Who said they were bigger than the whole rf though?
The pair of them were just a minor blip on my radar !
I didn't watch the wedding, I didn't follow the news , I was getting on with life as I'm sure many were , I was only aware of them when all the interviews and unpleasant complaints from them started.

I didn't either - and did for the Wale's - we were out for the day. Did look for images later to see what she'd worn - both MIL and I were interested very disappointed. MIL worked in textile industry and couldn't believe such a poor fit was let out the door - so followed the bridesmaid dress controversy later and thought that fashion house badly let them down.

First time I though the was something was not right - was that African tour and the tone deaf comments Meghan made.

When they went off to Canada for 5 weeks, my thought was - this is where she isolates him from his family

Definitely with you on that, @Rhaidimiddim; despite the flannel issued at the time I thought the chances of them ever come back afterwards were nil, but then I'm another who never believed Meghan had the least intention of staying in the UK in the first place

Nobody did, Jeff. Not one person suggested that they were "bigger" or more important than any royals. Unless it came from the couple themselves. They were popular because they were royalty. I think they believed it was all about themselves. They were wrong.

Fed up with lack of knowledge about the royal family's role in the U.K. .
They are not celebrities, thier function now is ceremonial and to serve us .
There is no popularity contest, it's a monarchy.
The taxpayers pay ( a small percentage) for the privilege.
We do not want sensation or scandal, we want them to do the job we expect, they are funded accordingly.

@Runnerinthenight , some people don't seem to understand that the king is HOS and can't suddenly go to another country without informing the leaders of that country, the USA would be responsible for his security and have to fund it because the king is entitled to ip status .

This is even before the fact that Charles is recovering from cancer.

....and anything he says to Harry will appear in a book/Netflix/magazine/People. Possibly somewhat embellished and twisted.

For the love of god, if you are going to continue with your allegations, could you actually provide some evidence to support them???! And yes, you are coming across as obsessed and irrational.

But I don't understand how people can't see how unfeasable it is for the king of the U.K. to hop on a plane and visit the USA at a moments notice!

I try to get my head around arguing that Charles is an horrific arsehole and arguing he should visit his grandchildren. Surely you think people with them views would actually be happy that he doesn’t hop on to a plane, even though we have no idea if he’d be welcome and ignoring the logistics of a King
