I don’t think so. I think the RF thought their ship had come in with a mixed race person marrying into their ranks at a pretty senior level. The wedding was tailored to Megan’s taste in an almost unprecedented way: the guest list, the choice of preacher ( although Welby had to source him, Megan didn’t have a tame cleric), the flowers ( not done by the usual florists and so dying by the next day when the world was allowed to see them) the numerous wedding outfits. She even had the Heir to the throne walking her down the aisle, a bizarre concept that the groom’s father should ‘give away’ a bride to his son, but heigh ho… of course, it wasn’t enough, because it wasn’t St Paul’s or Westminster Abbey, although Charles and Camilla had to make do with a Blessing, as the Church of England didn’t marry divorced persons as a rule.

It was never going to be enough, as long as William and Kate were higher in the hierarchy than M&H

Charles wasn't "giving Meghan away" (a completely outdated concept, anyway) but welcoming her into the family. It's sad that it all ended up like this, their wedding was quite heartwarming.

I didn't think it would end well. Meghan was too showy for the rest of them. It was never going to work. She wanted to be number 1. Couldn't face playing second fiddle to Kate.

I have just watched both episodes and a few things struck me . Firstly , Meghan received a warm , positive welcome and the majority of people were genuinely happy for Harry .
Also , Meghan was so stunning in the early days . I have no idea what procedures she has had done but looks very different and not just because she is a bit older.

I'd imagine it was much more difficult for both W&K when Scobie actually named Kate as one of the "royal racists"; after all it's bad enough to fling scattergun accusations, but quite another thing to accuse someone personally if it's not true
