Viva La Vida. He once ruled the world and now he cleans the streets that he used to own.

So their “philanthropy” highlighting whatever cause the Colombian VP wants highlighted (mostly her own popularity , I suspect) involves that cause being highlighted only if Archewell is paid by the press. And using someone else’s children whose images will be forever on the internet they say children should be shielded from. Whilst hobnobbing in a country where extraordinary security measures need to be taken, and not minding if other people’s kids end up in the danger zone their presence has created. It’s all very fucked up.

This 👏

Someone has commented on the DM that the reason for so many outfit changes is to look like the have made many more charitable events than they have. This is a 4 day tour but there will be numerous outfits, change of jewellery and hairstyles on one day to give the illusion they are doing much more. All for content

It is true, she’s even changing up her hair overtime.

For example. Yesterday- why change from a bun to ponytail? Why change from blazer and trousers to shirt and skirt. The first outfit was appropriate to meet the invictus lot.

She’s even taking off the Cartier necklace to make sure she has different shots

Twistybranch · 17/08/2024 11:03

Also the latest visit….an article about it is halfway down the page on the DM and has about 20 comments.

This tour is dying a death

Many of the royalists are doing a mute challenge on x. Probably why nothing about the trip is trending.

I saw some brief coverage on BBC breakfast this morning. However, the correspondent made it clear that they were fully controlling everything and press weren’t allowed anywhere near so in her words, we’re only seeing and hearing what they want us to. Interesting reporting there.

I did say on another thread about how controlled it would all be and a repeat of Nigeria, a few posters didn’t agree or think it possible. It looks like I wasn’t far off the mark though…..

Thanks so it does look as though the stains are genuine, clearly visible in the standing photo. Oh dear, she really does need expert help.

Did someone not say that she now has a stylist ??

garlicandsapphires · 17/08/2024 11:11

She is at least dressing more appropriately than she did in Nigeria.

That’s interesting

BigWillyLittleTodger · 17/08/2024 11:13

She’s a complete unnatural with children, it looks so forced and performative.

What did come out from Nigeria was personal phone footage showing other angles and non curated interactions. It will be interesting if that happens again with Colombia or whether that’s been shut down by the hosts.

Absolutely. The kids always look like they are hostages!

They do! 😂

Sandwichgen · 17/08/2024 11:19

She’s lucky there isn’t a rear photo of the brown outfit - bound to be a big wet patch, particularly if she was sitting on a plastic chair <<cringes at own school speech day humiliation>>

it’s the sort of thing you learn from experience - that sort of fabric on a hot day isn’t forgiving., But in the bosom of the royal family., with an experienced dresser rather than a celebrity stylist, you wouldn’t have to learn from
experience - you’d have been firmly steered away

Meghan has history with brown and sweat stains. She had noticeable underarm stains when they visited the Canadian Embassy before Megxit. It’s a colour she’d do best to avoid.

Mylovelygreendress · 17/08/2024 11:29

Unusually , I like this outfit ! Appreciate it might look different when she stands

That’s the one that I was trying to find to post, but disappeared. I like it too

eta although they were meeting Invictus vets and playing seated volleyball, so maybe trousers would have been better

Twistybranch · 17/08/2024 11:31

I’m not a fan of the ivory and crisp white together

I think the two shades of white clash, and that shirt is too loose fitting to be tucked in to the skirt. It's designed to be worn untucked, so it looks messy and baggy.

It's also not really appropriate for the setting. Who wears stilettos in a sport hall?

No, but the style is good and I like the polka dots

Yes. You can imagine that if the Princess of wales had been in that situation, she would have had some sort of tracksuit style suit and trainers. The pictures of Harry showed him in a polo shirt and jeans. More appropriate

Did anyone honestly expect anything different on the "philanthropy" thing?

@Thedom you mentioned Harry's remarks about Musk and the visit not "trending". I've no idea how twitter works now, but is it possible for the admins to control what trendss and what doesn't?

MummyJ12 · 17/08/2024 11:45

For all Elon Musk’s faults, he is a massive advocate of free speech and wouldn’t manipulate what is and isn’t trending. He could easily silence some fierce critics of his on x but he doesn’t. It isn’t trending because there’s a conscious effort not to by the usual accounts.

jeffgoldblum · 17/08/2024 11:46

If it's true they are charging for photos , this may explain the lack of coverage.

Thanks, MummyJ12; that sounds fair enough, and anyway Musk's doubtless had worse said and by people who matter more

Just musing really, but the whole H&M situation feels to me as if it's entering some sort of endgame - pun not intended. Where it'll all end up is anyone's guess, but it'll sure make for interesting watching
