H & M announce a visit to Colombia

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announce they will visit Colombia

mol.im/a/13698271

Another country on the "Don't travel" list.

"But the UK and US governments have both issued security alerts over travelling to Colombia amid fears over crime, terrorism, civil unrest and kidnapping - and Harry's decision to visit comes amid his ongoing battle for his security when in Britain.
The UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office 'advises against all but essential travel to parts of Colombia'. And the US Department of State issued a travel advisory for Colombia stating: 'Reconsider travel due to crime and terrorism. Exercise increased caution due to civil unrest and kidnapping. Some areas have increased risk.'"

Perhaps he thinks this is the way to get his security reconsidered? Personally I'd say the opposite.
If he still had UK security I'd expect them to do a risk assessment and say "NO".
Why should security personnel be put at risk by being required to travel to these dangerous destinations.

The whole idea of them needing a Chief of Staff is beyond ridiculous 🤦‍♀️

CJ Cregg, The West Wing, would be ideal for the job, she'd take no rubbish from them either!

BasiliskStare · 13/08/2024 21:59

@coffeecantata - Next appointment David Brent - that made me giggle. I would love ( after seeing Jeremy Paxman interviewing them ) David Brent sitting in the Montecito mansion picking out a love song on his guitar. Oh goodness you did make me laugh there - Thank you 😃🌷

I do not know but I suspect H&M don't like people who stand up to them.

AutumnCrow · 13/08/2024 22:23

'Chief of Staff'
'Global Press Secretary'

Groom of the Stool is apparently a vacant position.

If their CoS has quit and they are off to Colombia on Thursday, whose job is it to make sure they don't get kidnapped or photographed with any more criminals?

Harry is not coming to the UK for the funeral of Robert Fellowes. His uncle. The UK is too unsafe for him.

But Nigeria and Columbia are fine …….

Given that the trio of new acceptees into 'the Invictus family' are Nigeria, Colombia and Israel, might we imagine that the Sussexes will be touching down at Ben Gurion airport before the year is out, welcomed for a breakfast or lunch by Netanyahu?

Twistybranch · 13/08/2024 23:40

Next Chief of staff should be Malcolm Tucker. Think he is perfect to deal with the omishambles that is the Office of the Duke and Duchess Sussex.

BasiliskStare · 14/08/2024 01:46

@Twistybranch - Oh how very yes . I love the idea of David Brent but also Malcolm Tucker. - to Harry when he speaks - Oh the Kraken awakes ? - My goodness I would love to hear what he could say to her. E fucking nough Marie Antionette

Ye talk shite, hen.

Oh yes, I'll get CJ Cregg to resign in favour of Malcolm Tucker, I'd forgotten 'ominshambles'. During the Olympics I rewatched Twenty Twelve, still as cringe-making as ever.

CoffeeCantata · 14/08/2024 16:21

Scuse my French, but I remember one of Malcolm Tucker's best lines was:

"Just come the fuck in, or fuck the fuck off!'

...to someone dithering at his door. I'd love him to shout that at H & M. I bet ARO, 40 x 40, the African Parks mess, the Cooking Extravaganza and any number of other stalled projects would get sorted very fast.

Twistybranch · 14/08/2024 16:55

I’m just imagining the expletives Malcolm would use…..’fuckwit’ I’m pretty sure would be high on the list

Because the Secret Intelligence Service (not actually MI6) really gives a shit about the titles of two ex-Royals, come on 🙄

Because they may well be interested in what H&M are up to abroad, using their titles to enter spheres of influence where they have no business.

BasiliskStare · 14/08/2024 19:31

@CoffeeCantata and @Twistybranch

I think if Malcolm Tucker were representing the Sussexes I could see him using this line from "In The Loop"

"It doesn't matter if it happened or not - It Is True"

Which is pretty much their MO for interviews etc.
😊

EsioTrotlove · 14/08/2024 19:36

Apparently Joe Rogan is having a pop at them in a new Netflix special too. It's all happening!

AutumnCrow · 14/08/2024 22:55

I think the MI6 meetings with the Head of State and briefings for the Head-of-State-in-waiting are fairly routine. Having said that, there will be an awareness by security services of certain connections and activities, that may be shared confidentially. But the MI6 meetings and briefings would be happening regardless.

I think the Royal Foundation may rue the day when it supported and encouraged certain charities. Perhaps the out-of-control Invictus will be one of them. Mermaids is perhaps another.

An article from the Spectator about the Colombia trip. This is the last paragraph:

Kettler’s departure may have reminded many of that old saying about rats and sinking ships. This latest piece of hubris may or may not be a success on its own, limited terms, but it is difficult to wonder why the Sussexes are still bothering to inflict their faux-messiah complexes on the world when few seem to welcome their presence in foreign climes any longer. Obscurity is a hard fate to contemplate, but sometimes it is better than the ritual humiliation that both seem masochistically intent on putting themselves through, apparently forever.

BemusedAmerican · 15/08/2024 00:51

They should hire Baldrick. "My lord, I have a cunning plan."

Ouch!

ThePoshUns · 15/08/2024 07:17

Ouch indeed. Also spot on.

Theweepywillow · 15/08/2024 09:06

I’m finding it all a little odd. Why are they doing tours? This doesn’t appear invictus related, at least that was the pretence for Nigeria.

I do wonder if they are getting back handlers, paid to go, and if they are they just sticking pins in the corruption map of the world and going where ever the pin lands.

it will be like Nigeria, they won’t go anywhere risky, huge security and only be in wealthy enclaves,

megan will act like she’s a proper royal. Waving, hugging, clasping hands, And also do some faux leadership thing, and harry will hold her hand and look all concerned and subservient.
