H & M announce a visit to Colombia

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announce they will visit Colombia

mol.im/a/13698271

Another country on the "Don't travel" list.

"But the UK and US governments have both issued security alerts over travelling to Colombia amid fears over crime, terrorism, civil unrest and kidnapping - and Harry's decision to visit comes amid his ongoing battle for his security when in Britain.
The UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office 'advises against all but essential travel to parts of Colombia'. And the US Department of State issued a travel advisory for Colombia stating: 'Reconsider travel due to crime and terrorism. Exercise increased caution due to civil unrest and kidnapping. Some areas have increased risk.'"

Perhaps he thinks this is the way to get his security reconsidered? Personally I'd say the opposite.
If he still had UK security I'd expect them to do a risk assessment and say "NO".
Why should security personnel be put at risk by being required to travel to these dangerous destinations.

Robert Fellowes funeral. He was The Queens private secretary.

Well I hope they take this opportunity to look beyond hiring white males…..and look to diversify their staff. practice what you preach and all that.

Indeed.

3 months!

I mean surely that’s still under some sort of a probation period?

Usually people stick it out for a year because they don’t want it to look bad on their CV.

Must be really bad for him to go

I think it’s got to the stage now that just working for H&M looks bad on your CV, never mind how long you were there for.

InsomniacIda · 13/08/2024 08:33

What a tale all these members of staff who have left could tell, but I guess they have all signed NDA's

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/08/2024 08:42

Twistybranch · 13/08/2024 07:28

People magazine (M&Hs mouthpiece) has put out the decision was mutual

yeh……ok

You beat me to it, Twisty, and it also maintains that the appointment was only ever on a trial basis in the first place

But then, to borrow that old phrase, "they would say that wouldn't they"

Sounds like they are trying to undermine the 'Chief of Staff'.

Very possibly, TheDom, but with H&M's own credibility down the gurgler that's unlikely to work now

Providing someone's got a decent employment record elsewhere, staying just 3 months in a new job tends to tell its own story

Lockupyourbiscuits · 13/08/2024 09:16

I expect it dawned on him the folly of swanning around in designer outfits , call us HRH , thanks for letting us Royal around at your expense wasn’t going to go down well in Colombia

The timing is suspicious

smilesy · 13/08/2024 09:23

Apparently it’s now 18 members of staff they have lost, with half of those leaving since they went to the US. Judging by what is said Here it doesn’t seem like their latest chief of staff was seen by them as a short term or probationary option 🤷‍♀️

Prince Harry and Meghan's new chief of staff 'quits after only three months' as the pair prepare for Colombia tour

Prince Harry and Meghan's new chief of staff is understood to have quit after only three months.

Presumably he'd have had to give some sort of notice? I can't see them handing out contract without such a requirement especially for a 'Chief Of Staff'.

Depending how long it might mean he gave up on them almost immediately😮

Usually there is some sort of probationary period whereby either party can decide to terminate the arrangement without notice if it isn’t working for them 🤷‍♀️

Just seen in the Telegraph that he was allegedly hired on a “trial basis” which would fit with a three month probationary period. They say both sides agreed he wasn’t the right fit. They really don’t seem able to gel with anyone

The "trial basis" is not quoted in the original story in the DM. The "trial basis" and "mutual" stuff is reported in People, H & M's mouthpiece.

Thedom · 13/08/2024 10:41

Their PR is out in force trying to put a lid on it and throw shade on the ex employee, with the insinuation he wasn’t competent enough to pass the ‘trial period’.The vast majority don’t believe a word of it and have only admiration and sympathy for the ex employee. .

Hope he has ‘sources’ who can spill some of the beans! 😀😀

Something's going wrong somewhere....

...or pretty much everywhere?

CathyorClaire · 13/08/2024 10:50

It amazes me they still seem capable of attracting anyone to work for them but they're steaming through talent at an alarming rate.

Next hire: David Brent 🤓

Oh yes. I dont doubt that there is more to it than that. It’s amusing that they are trying to say that Ketter wasn’t good enough. His past record doesn’t suggest that 😆

Why do two private citizens who barely do anything need a "Chief of Staff"?

Maybe their “Chief of Staff” is just someone they employ to walk ahead of them with a big stick 😆

EsioTrotlove · 13/08/2024 11:08

I think they have been trying to replace the "men in grey" / the "insect men" with similar staff who will do everything for them while they just turn up and smile. But it's an impossible task for anyone not part of an institution where those roles and that machinery are honed to perfection. I hope Harry is starting to see the value in those experienced courtiers he vilified.

InsomniacIda · 13/08/2024 11:13

The joke is his Uncle was the biggest man in grey and seems to have done a very good job .

I read somewhere that Meghan has stopped Harry having a 40th birthday party with his mates in the UK (those that remain). Don’t know if that’s true. Just a quiet time with her instead. 😂

According to a DE article in the last few days it was RAVEC. Who not only stopped him from meeting up with his mates in the UK, but also from attending his uncle's funeral.

Apparently the requirement that he has to give 28 days' notice of plans makes it a "logistical nightmare" for him to plan visits, so he doesn't any more.

Note the expectation that RAVEC will agree to security, regardless of any risk assessment.

Is he saying he can’t give 28 days notice of his birthday? 😂
