I have seen several newspapers referring to this German documentary. It's the first I've heard of it.

Meghan, the anti bullying champion
?!
This can't be real 😂

CurlewKate · 11/08/2024 09:07

@CatrionaBalfour personally I blame Charles much more than camilla..........

CatrionaBalfour · 11/08/2024 09:11

Should Charles wear a letter on his jacket to indicate his prior misdemeanours, or is he not allowed to move on?
I don't see the point in getting stuck in the past.
We're many years on from this. I just think sometimes it's healthier to put the past behind and try to live better in the moment.

Agree absolutely. What’s done is done and probably the best thing is to learn from the past and make sure we don’t carry this behaviour forwards or let it define and limit our lives

RedRosesPinkLilies · 11/08/2024 09:36

I’m not too young to know how Camilla was perceived..
But this is all 27 or so years ago. Can’t we move on? A lot worse has happened in the world than this

Agree . It always amuses me that certain posters harp on about events in the 1980s/ 90s yet we are expected to not mention the disastrous OW interview as it was years ago !

This, absolutely. Double standards. Of course 🙄

Neither am I too young to remember how Camilla was perceived. That's why I was fairly careful to say that in the last 20 years she and Charles haven't needed any 'clever old RF' to do something about their image. Early on there was PR to help her but she has taken it from there on her own.

In my lifetime I have known quite a lot of couples who divorced and one couple who were definitely not well-suited from the start, but I guess that they all started out with the best of intentions.

RedRosesPinkLilies · 11/08/2024 22:34

@upinaballoon - yes, I think over the years - Camilla’s own personality has come through. She doesn’t appear to seek the limelight for herself - rather she seems very human and supportive of Charles. Personally I’m happy they have each other in their twilight years

I would also have preferred that Diana hadn’t died so young. I think everyone realises how sad that was.

But they are very separate situations

Yes, I would agree, good points.

Come off it ; you have been around a while so you must have seen comments berating posters who refer to the wedding “ spectacle” or the OW interview as being years ago ! One poster in particular used to frequently quote the number of books Sarah has written plus the 90s interviews while dismissing criticism of the OW interview as being in the past .

Quite - and even if the OW interview etc was '4 years ago' (imagine! In the mists of time), the fallout has been huge and is still developing.

I think people who minimise the impact of that interview, the book and the documentary are either dim or disingenuous.

CatrionaBalfour · 12/08/2024 10:10

Plus, they lead on from each other, it was a concerted attack for headlines and money.

Then there’s the posters that have equated one interview Charles gave in the 80s or 90s mentioning a couple of mild complaints about his mother with Harry’s industrial scale family maligning

CatrionaBalfour · 12/08/2024 10:16

@Wellieswithsocks absolutely! Or the rather dull Jonathan Dimbleby book gets compared to "Spare"!
Extraordinary.

I think it's fascinating how all of those (bombshells at the time) now amplify and confirm what the Henrys have revealed of their characters since.

CoffeeCantata · 12/08/2024 10:57

Just going back to the the German documentary, I confess to wanting to see Meghan's image investigated - but not from the 'sexual scandal' perspective. I am genuinely not particularly interested in her sexual/romantic past - all the 'yacht-girl' and secret daughter rumours. So what?

What I want to see (and I know I'll be disappointed) is a report on her behaviour towards her employees, partners and subordinates. I detest bullies, and for me, Meghan just radiates bully vibes. It's not just the sub-text of her many interviews and what she said in the documentary*, but glimpses of this side of her character can actually be seen on film. I want to see her hypocrisy exposed.

I know that the RF is holding a dossier on her and Harry's bullying of staff while they were briefly royal, but I should imagine there's much, much more. I suspect, for example, that the failure to deliver on their initiatives is due to their terrible treatment of staff/employees/colleagues in Netflix, Spotify etc etc. Perhaps the key people, who've started to get the project off the ground, leave and H & M are left high and dry, not knowing how to proceed without them, and finding it difficult to recruit replacements?

  • Oh, and the strong likelihood that it's Meghan's voice we hear through Omid Scobie's oeuvre - since it seems very far-fetched to believe he could have developed such a bitchy and detailed loathing of Katherine all by himself!!!

But I'm probably expecting far too much...

CatrionaBalfour · 12/08/2024 11:01

You possibly are, @CoffeeCantata !
I would recommend the Tom Bower book, Revenge. It's a few years old now, but does go into her childhood and adulthood before Harry, and the early days of the marriage.
How much of it is true? I don't know, but Bower has said he's prepared to be sued, and nothing has happened, so that's interesting.

Ooh yes, Catriona - I've read that, and I must say - it rang very true.

I also watched the video of Meghan's now-notorious visit to the Fiji market and I was shocked by her behaviour, both towards the women who were waiting to see and talk to her, but also to her security lady who was clearly on the edge of tears. Tom Bower mentions this episode in the book, and the evidence for his account is/was there for all to see.

But recently, the version I watched has either disappeared from YouTube or I haven't been able to find it again, This is very annoying, especially when I was trying to make this point to a Sussex supporter a while back! But I know what I saw...

And as has been said here before, Meghan has never attempted to sue Bower.

CatrionaBalfour · 12/08/2024 11:20

Good points, @CoffeeCantata . Bower made the point that she immediately thought her role meant that she could cash in, she asked for free goods and services and seems to have been angry at being stopped. I wonder if the desire to monetise their connections and status was the trigger for leaving.

@CatrionaBalfour <shrug> She maintained an affair with a married man. Both she and he behaved equally despicably.

Well I've only ever heard of Camilla having a relationship with one married man which isn't something you can say about the sainted Diana.

Nor did Camila wage a campaign of harassment against affair partners and wives, such that the police had to get involved.

"They left 4 years ago! Why are you still talking about them?". "It's you who can't let them go and lead their best lives, you just want to destroy everything they do because you are a jealous racist!" Blah, blah blah, blah. So sick of these goady, faux naive posts. These people are literally in our faces getting away with all manner of shit that damages free speech and the reputation of the UK and its head of state, and we are supposed to ignore it.
