Meghan put on very obvious pregnancy weight around her face, back, arms and thighs.

And I thought she looked great with it - really glowing - in the picture with the late Queen and Archie.

I know I'm wasting my breath...no celebrity wants to be what my granny would have called 'bonny' these days! And Hollywood wouldn't accept anything so healthy-looking.

Oh this is something I agree with. Meghan looked better post pregnancy, with a soft rounder face, than she does now. She always looks glowing.

HumanBurrito · 29/07/2024 12:58

But the evidence is that the causes they favour are unequally distributed and that entrenches geograpgical and class disparities. It is not a neutral nice benevolent act.

CurlewKate · 29/07/2024 13:02

Actually-if I had to choose a charitable "thing" a Royal's been involved in it might be Megan's cookbook. The money raised went directly to a specific and very important cause local to her. She seemed ( say seemed, because who knows) to be actively involved. And it's an excellent cookery book.

CarmelaBrunella · 29/07/2024 13:04

Has Meghan written a cookery book? I haven't heard of this. Which charity?

Likewhatever · 29/07/2024 13:11

CurlewKate · 29/07/2024 12:42

@PrettyFlyforaMaiTai You say she funded it. I'm amazed-and delighted to hear that. I didn't think they personally funded things. I'm glad to be wrong.

Doesn’t need to be from her personal funds surely? She was instrumental in funding being granted through the Royal Foundation.

Similar to when celebrities refer to “their” charities when they set them up. No-one can own a charity.

CurlewKate · 29/07/2024 13:13

@CarmelaBrunella
It's called Together. And was produced by a group of women who cooked for the people displaced by the Grenfell Tower disaster-the Hubb Kitchen. It raised over £500000.

She funded a trial for health visitors and it produced “overwhelming” positive results. The next phase of the project involves expanding the trial to several new locations.
But the bigger hope is that this system will be used by all health visitors in the UK.

Yes her Foundation gave a £50,000 grant. The actual evaluation work and training is carried out by other organisations. It is no different to other grant funding bodies.

Agreed. It is not funded through her personal income. It is a foundation that gives grants through money raised from rich donors. Having Kate as the head helps attract donors.

The government giving money to the RF so that they can give grants to safe projects in line with their own interests is a ridiculously inefficient way of doing things.

Right, the Grenfell one. Not being picky, but I thought you said it was her cookery book. This was the work of a women's collective and an excellent cause. She did go along and meet them and write an intro, to be fair.

You do realise Meghan wasn't the only Royal involved in Grenfell or does only her contribution count?

@CarmelaBrunella "Right, the Grenfell one. Not being picky, but I thought you said it was her cookery book."

You will notice that I said it was "produced by a group of women who....." and that she "seemed to be actively involved"

"Megan's cook book" was obviously shorthand.

CurlewKate · 29/07/2024 13:53

@sausawyee I thought we were talking about charities and projects-not donations.

CurlewKate · 29/07/2024 13:56

@sausawyee I mentioned the cook book because it was a small local project-the sort of thing where a famous figurehead can make an immediate and significant difference. Unless I am misunderstanding what figurehead means again.

ElizaMulvil · 29/07/2024 13:57

One wonders what/ who is in Philip's will that it needs to be locked up for 100 years.

TheWoodlanders · 29/07/2024 14:01

We all know what is being covered up in Phillip’s will. It wasn’t really a secret in his lifetime. And yet, any time names have been mentioned on here the post gets deleted.

No, you didn't say "women who..." until your second post. Your first post said "Meghan's cook book". Anyway, it's been clarified now, I know what you mean.

I have no idea and really want to know!

Me too!

@CarmelaBrunella I really didn't think I'd have to clarify that she didn't sit in her own test kitchen developing recipes! 🤣🤣

Gorgonemilezola · 29/07/2024 14:15

The 'Hold Still' project which Kate supported was rather lovely and raised money for Mind. A good collaboration with the NPG.

Yeah? You said cook book. She makes jam. I thought maybe she'd written a cook book. I was wrong. 😂😂😂
