Charles is a spoiled brat and has a nasty temper. He wouldn't last 10 mins in the real world.

Neither would the late Prince Philip.

PP was apparently much loved by his staff. Maybe he brought decent cakes into work on his birthday.

Prince Philip seemed to manage just fine in the navy.

AvrielFinch · 26/07/2024 20:10

Or maybe PP employed people with similar views to himself?

fuzzwuss · 26/07/2024 20:18

I think we.should keep the monarchy but strip them of most assets, the lands belonging to the Duchy of Cornwall for a start, but all other properties in the uk and abroad, all of it should belong to the state.

newnamethanks · 26/07/2024 20:26

Prince Philip had an interesting childhood with a surprising amount of hardship. He would have managed anywhere, might not have liked it, but he was not the cossetted creature you mistake him for.

What about the Duke of Westminster's lands can we grab them as well? Can we take over some of the big estates?

There is definitely an argument to be made that we should have had a revolution back in 1920 and taken all of this land back.

CurlewKate · 26/07/2024 20:40

Charles is tetchy in public- so heaven knows what he's like in private....

NotaDuchessIworkalot · 27/07/2024 01:45

The royals are running many privately owned concerns. They are the epitome of a commercial enterprise for their blood relatives and heirs wrapped up in this idea of working for us. 😂 And they couldn’t let Harry and Meghan make their own money. Mafia mentality reigns in the UK.

You've obviously had no experience with the Mafia.

Here’s mine: How many paedophiles does one have to include in your circle of advisors/ mentors before it’s reasonable to conclude one is drawn to the company of paedophiles?

Bishop Peter Ball
Sir Jimmy Savile
Viscount Tonypandy
sir Harold Haywood (Co editor of the Paedophile Information Exchange’s leaflet for MPs and first head of the Prince’s Trust)
Laurens Van Der Post
Lord Louis Mountbatten

Surely not @AliceOlive Is Sean Coombes really spoken of by the King as a mentor of the King?

I was looking for an article in the Daily Mail 1986 the other day on microfiche and a front page around April was Charles seen by polo match audience hitting his horse in the head with the wooden mallet saying bloody horse - the palace said the spectators must have been mistaken but it reminded me of “bloody pen” incident - that Charlotte equestrian woman needs better PR

I prefer Camilla to Diana! Why Diana is portrayed as some sort of saint now baffles me, I remember her in the 80s and a saint she was not!

Well, we now know where Harry learned his polo pony etiquette.

The Duke of Westminster has a better track record than Amazon as an employer. You should read about the working conditions of the Amazon warehouse employees and the delivery people in the US. I haven't read about the Duke's people striking for better working conditions.

If you nationalize the Duke's holdings, there is no guarantee that working conditions won't worsen under state control. No offense but NHS workers don't sound exactly chipper.

Having businesses run by big companies isn't always the most humane or effective. US vetenarians who work for big companies are increasingly depressed and suicidal

So I would rethink the let's seize everything under government control and/or sell it off to be privatized idea.

‘Welcome to Hell’

Mars, Inc., is best known for making chocolate bars. But it also owns the most pet hospitals in the U.S., and workers say the conditions are toxic.

I never liked the queen. Thought she was huffy, rude and stubborn and barely smiled.
Definitely pefere prince Harry than the rest. He seems more grounded and think the public give him too much of a hard time just for simply not wanting the life he had.

"Grounded" 😂😅😂😆

He's the least grounded person I can think of.

That we should all be petitioning for an elected head of state ….and moving towards a republic

stillavid · 27/07/2024 07:23

I think the Queen should have abdicated at a sensible retirement age - she was too old really to deal with all the Harry shenanigans.

The RF should have given Harry a very generous settlement agreement on the proviso he kept quiet.

I honestly think William and Kate would be delighted if the monarchy was abolished and they got to live on all the secret wealth the RF have like loads of other rich aristocrats.

And obviously the whole concept of a RF is insane but it sure is entertaining.

I never understand why so many furriners spout so much garbage about the UK and its institutions. It's obvious from many posts that their actual real knowledge is scanty and probably just gathered from elsewhere or even fed to them. There's always that little thing that gives them away.
Why do people have so much interest in a country they don't even live in - usually countries which have far worse problems than the UK?

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 27/07/2024 09:14

I'd like to suggest that all members of the royal family sit rigorous exams to indicate fitness for position. (Understanding of family history, Commonwealth geography, fiscal matters, diplomacy, ethics, protocol and world affairs in general.) If not enough of them pass, they should be disbanded and replaced by the corgis.

The corgis would not be obliged to pass exams, naturally, but would have to accompany the prime minister of the day on a weekly trot around Windsor Great Park so that he or she might ruminate over pressing governmental matters in peace.
