@sausawyee "It's just another thing that H and M supporters want to say to get at the RF. "

That is SERIOUSLY unhinged!

Yeah there's clearly a weird conspiracy theory that any even slightly negative commentary on William, Kate and their family can only come from fans of Harry and Meghan. It's really not true and it gets pretty boring.

On here it’s pretty clear.

The word unhinged has grown boring, too.

Really ? I think it's common sense. I'm not unhinged.

AliceOlive · 26/07/2024 17:25

It’s clear when someone is criticizing others legitimately or not.

spriots · 26/07/2024 17:28

Astonishingly to some, I can possess negative opinions about William, Kate, and Harry all at the same time! My views on William and Kate are really not influenced by my views on anyone else.

I actually agree with a PP that William and Harry aren't very different. Both like the perks of royalty but not the responsibilities.

Meghan I think never really understood the Royal family and what she was getting herself into, for which I largely blame Harry

CurlewKate · 26/07/2024 17:30

Are we on to H&M now? Damn. It was interesting to have a RF thread without them.

And in the second...

sausawyee · 26/07/2024 17:34

And the 11th.... it's not new 🤷‍♀️

I agree.

For a different unpopular opinion: I understand why the royals haven't totally shunned Andrew.

I mean as an outsider, at the very least he seems to have very poor judgement and to be a bit of a sleaze. But nothing has been proven and I think it's natural to want to see the best in your family member.

It's entirely right that he doesn't do public engagements but I understand why they still involve him in private family things.

No that was

What’s unhinged is the slagging off of children and the hyper-focus on their clothing. But I guess that’s more entertaining for some.

sausawyee · 26/07/2024 17:41

@spriots it wasn't me. Read from the OP 🙄

I think they should definitely have been at the funeral but seated beforehand, no procession, and the press told to avoid lingering shots of them.

What I found strange about the funeral was that it almost felt like she was still married to Charles - with Charles and Philip in the procession, it's not normal for your ex husband and ex FIL to be treated as key mourners

her sons walked with the with their father (who was also her ex-husband).

That doesn’t seem strange to me.

I think for me it was the whole vibe of the funeral - hard to explain - it just felt like they had never divorced, it was so thoroughly royal as a send off

But then I can see there was no real precedent for the funeral of the ex wife of the heir to the throne

CurlewKate · 26/07/2024 17:59

@AliceOlive "What’s unhinged is the slagging off of children and the hyper-focus on their clothing. But I guess that’s more entertaining for some"

Ah. Well, I haven't done either of those things. So phew. I pass the police check!

CurlewKate · 26/07/2024 18:03

@PumpkinsAndCoconuts "her sons walked with the with their father (who was also her ex-husband).

I think them walking at all was the strange bit. I seem to remember that Philip wasn't intending to walk but changed his mind to walk with the boys. The only thing I've ever approved of the big game hunting old bigot ever doing.

EmmaPeele · 26/07/2024 18:46

I loved Diana. I thought she was the nicest of all of them and they treated her terribly. I was 13 when Charles and Diana married, so saw all the build up to it, first seeing Diana as a beautiful nineteen year old and completely believed the fairytale we were sold. I can't stand Charles, I think he behaves like a spoilt brat. I don't really have much of an opinion on Camilla, just think she must have a heck of a lot to put up with being at his beck and call. I bet everyone knows about it if things aren't going right for him. I didn't like Prince Philip and I don't like Princess Anne, I think they are definitely both "cut from the same cloth" and don't have much patience with "ordinary" people. I remember all Philips' "gaffs" that weren't funny at all. However, I loved the Queen, thought she did an amazing job and I think Kate is the best thing to happen to the Royal Family ever. I like William, Kate and their kids and feel so sad about the situation with Harry and Megan. It's such a shame that they have all fallen out and I think Diana would be devastated. I like Sophie and Edward but am disgusted with Andrew and feel sorry for Fergie and their daughters, they probably don't have much option but to stand by him. Anyway, all that is only my humble opinion of course and I'm sure many of you will disagree with me!

MartyFunkhouser · 26/07/2024 18:51

I always thought Diana was a first-class loon.

She’d have had a chaotic life had she lived, with poor choices in men.

florenceandthemac · 26/07/2024 18:54

wordler · 24/07/2024 17:34

I think Camilla is doing a great job as Queen and I think she’s more suited to the role and to Charles than Diana would have been.

Yes this

CurlewKate · 26/07/2024 19:04

I think Camilla is doing a good "job" and she has done some good things around VAWAG. And I like that she doesn't have Ladies in Waiting-she has The Queen's Companions. But she and Charles were equally at fault in their treatment of Diana. Who was a loon, but was still treated appallingly.

newnamethanks · 26/07/2024 19:19

Poor Diana, treated terribly but I bet she was bloody hard work. And the thought of her as a MIL? Given her ability to fall out with everyone, I reckon she'd be a bloody nightmare.

PeakSummer · 26/07/2024 20:00

Charles is a spoiled brat and has a nasty temper. He wouldn't last 10 mins in the real world.

Neither would the late Prince Philip.
