@Bagpussisnotmyhero

The things that Edward and Sophie did (years ago) were grabby, misjudged, naive, silly, stupid, unethical
BUT

the Dictionary definition of weird= strange, odd, bizarre, supernatural, unearthly, uncanny.

So, what they did wasn't weird shit!

Oh, I beg to differ. Totally weird as was tampongate. More weird shit.

For me, there’s one piece of evidence that’s more compelling than any other - the fact that James Hewitt has made clear more than once that he couldn’t possibly be Harry’s father.

Think about it. His entire notoriety is based on his relationship with Diana. Without it, he’s just a ten a penny public school ex-Army nobody. Would he come out and say directly “It’s possible I’m Harry’s father”? Of course not. But I’m damn sure he’d leave it deliberately ambiguous if there was even the slightest chance.

Nah, Harry’d be looking for back child support.

The whole point is we don't get to choose.

If you think someone is or isn't suitable for the role for any reason other than who their parents were or who their spouse's parents were, then you don't believe in a royal family.

Exactly. That’s the whole point of a hereditary monarchy -+ you don’t get to choose. You get whoever’s next in line, whether that’s a Nazi sympathiser, someone of low intelligence, someone wanted for questioning about sex with trafficked teenagers, someone who’s spent over 7 decades waiting for the job etc. You don’t get to say ‘Liked the Queen, not so keen on this one — why not skip a generation?’

When you have an elected HoS, then you get a choice. And they fulfil a term, and then you get to choose someone new.

Sorry but this thread is really horrible.

You do wonder how this " is in the spirit of Mumsnet"

I like Charles too.
My unpopular opinion is that Harry and William.are two cheeks of the same arse. Both of them want the perks of the job without putting in any work or having yo have any scrutiny about what they are doing. The difference is that Harry is irrelevant but we will be forced to have lazy arse William as head of state. I don't think he'll 'modernise the monarchy'at all. Just cling desperately to the last vestiges of it only changing if the alternative is his kids having to do ordinary jobs.

Edited

Yep I’d agree with all of that!

All the Team William/Team Harry threads - where’s the “re-open nominations” option? They are both as bad as each other and I feel equally sorry for both wives.

She didn't give up the job because of the press. She made it clear to the accessories buying team at Jigsaw that she would be very part time and would come and go as she pleased, to fit in with William's demands. Jigsaw was owned by friends of her parents so she was indulged but even that was too much for her.

I remember all the articles trying to work her out. The press took the view she wanted marriage to William and would wait a very long time to obtain that. Someone who can wait that long will put up with a lot. Too invested in all that being with William meant. No solid foundation of her own achievements post university. I discount the ‘I support’ this and that as a royal. Anyone can do that, not hard graft.

Diana wouldn’t be so fawned over now if she wasn’t dead.

If Diana looked like the back of a bus, she wouldn't be worshipped and adored as she still is now.

I think she would have lost the public adulation and press approval as she aged, especially if she continued to make dreadful choices of boyfriend. What is acceptable from a mid-30s woman still trailing the pathos of her high-profile divorce, would have been judged far more harshly in a 60something who can’t get away with “shy Di’ any more.

I'm not and never been a fan of Diana. But the way she was treated by Charles and Camilla was shocking. And the reinvention of Charles and Camilla is one of the most amazing PR snowjobs of all time

💯

Gagaandgag · 25/07/2024 00:51

I think Louis is ND (and that’s just fine!)

AvrielFinch · 25/07/2024 00:52

I think the way some members of the public label the Royal children on very little evidence is damaging for the children.

perfectstorm · 25/07/2024 00:52

TheWoodlanders · 24/07/2024 22:09

@perfectstorm what were the anomalies about the births?

Also still waiting to hear what the ‘irregularities’ in Lilibet’s birth certificate which makes it invalid.

I don't know what you're talking about, I'm afraid - did you mean to quote me?

Laloca2000 · 25/07/2024 00:54

At age 15 I watched Charles and Diana's wedding on a pub TV in Spain where I lived at the time. I walked a long way to get there and I was on my own. I loved Diana, she was a big deal in all the Spanish mags, and the locals used to compare me to her( purely cos we had vaguely similar features and hair) I was secretly flattered. I remember realising that 1. It was a bit odd that she was marrying such an ugly bloke, way too much older than her..and 2. Her wedding dress was by far the worst wedding dress I had ever seen...I was so disappointed for her and never stopped thinking how sad the whole thing was....

Illegally18 · 25/07/2024 01:03

Christ0nABike · 24/07/2024 18:38

An arranged marriage, basically.

Well yes, but anyone could see that it was arranged. All this 'they're so in love' nonsense was made up by the media

W & K are lazy and work shy
W is absolutely a knob and bully and believe he has been shagging around
C & C are disgustingly individuals for the way they have treat H & M. H is the scapegoat child who now there is a successful line to the throne is no longer needed. The old Queen was just as bad in allowing the treatment, but well they already had form throwing Princess Diana to the wolves. O and before her Princess Margaret.
They are a horrible toxic family that only care about their perceived public image.
They have bread nothing but spoilt indulged brats who have nothing but contempt for the general public.
The “firm” even if individual royals weren’t involved were absolutely at the bottom of Diana’s death.

And we’ve all seen and heard in the last couple of days how our wonderful Equestrians really treat horses, especially at high level competition. So there is no way the darling Anne and Zara did not treat horses like this in their Olympic successes, before and after also. And we all know where the love of horses came from QEII

There's also a picture of a young Prince Philip and Harry is his double.

yes, I've seen that photo, thought it too. Phillip in uniform?

The Royal Family are really good at working with the media to rewrite history,

Yes.

And disappeared, destroyed or secret documents all help.

Forgot another important plot point: would Andrew sweat being face to face with flesh eating zombie? Or would he stand there impervious and heroically dry? Like he did in the Falklands...
