I prefer the idea of Monarchy to a Republic. I do believe there should be a re-shaping of the way monarchy works and the paring back of the wealth - for example, the vast swathes of lands they 'own' really should go back to the people, ie, let's build the many houses that are needed on parts of royal estates: Sandringham, Balmoral, Windsor ... perhaps their 'dukes and duchesses' may also wish to help out by returning some of their land for the same purposes - Chatsworth, Abbeystead, for instance.
As to 'liking' the Royal Family: I don't know any of them. The late Queen I held in high regard because she was a woman of integrity and honour in her duty to the crown and 'her people' - her vows were done from the heart and fulfilled with honour. Charles I see as a spoiled, entitled little boy, just playing the part and who has never heard the words 'no' or 'do it yourself'. He appears to be a bit sneery and impatient towards the lesser mortals who serve him. Camilla I see as a bit of a good time gal, good for a laugh and 'entitled' to the title queen-consort, but she will never be my Queen. Andrew - well, the less said, the better. Edward and Sophie should be the last of the 'hangers-on' just because they happen to be related to the monarch. Emotionally damaged Harry and his choice of life-partner - well, he's already cut himself off from royal stuff and is making his own way. William, appears to be the making of a King after his paternal grandmother's heart. He appears to be the best husband and father he can be: forming a happy, united, loving family. Katherine appears to be the best choice that William could ever have made for both a wife and the mother of his children - she's stepped into the role and represents her husband, family and country to a praise-worthy standard.
