Sussex Whiplash

Sometimes, all the different media outlets who purport to know the inner workings of all things Sussex can give me whiplash. One moment the Sussex duo are on the outs with everyone, hemorrhaging or devoid of influential friends, making no headway with Netflix, losing money, can’t afford their mortgage and claimed to no longer be relevant. Then Suits saw an upsurge in viewers - fantastic ratings on Netflix, the BBC buys Suits, Invictus is being promoted via Harry’s award and trips, he receives a heartfelt standing ovation, Meghan finishes filming a new Netflix series purportedly linked to a nascent commercial venture and a new podcast is set for next year.

‘Lonely’ Harry, as some will insist on writing, is also not something that rings true for me. He has too much charisma, energy, interests, causes and is a people person. I also cannot think of anyone who needs to say I am friends with x, y, and z on a regular basis for the benefit or not of strangers. We don’t know who they are friends with, really. Meanwhile, pundits continue to engage those interested in the couple with whatever they can attributing the information to some made up mysterious ‘sources’. I suspect their real friends are quietly keeping their own counsel. Especially, now they have seen the mutual pathological loathing that Harry and the tabloids have towards one another. Can’t say I blame them either.

Considering Whoopi G had less than favourable words for the couple I’d like to have been a fly on the wall at any meetings held. No doubt ‘netizens’ will have their microscopes to the ready to give us all their ‘insights’ regarding the events of the evening. No doubt I’ll get whiplash again when all their combined fingers hit the keyboards.

I think the people who worship them haven’t looked too closely at what is really going on. They have a knee jerk response ‘it’s racism’, or ‘well the RF are toxic and abusive’, or they have read Spare and swallowed the poor me narrative without any real discernment. There seem to be a lot of Americans who just loathe British people and the RF on principle, so anyone who is seen to have ‘escaped’ is a good ‘un. There is a woeful lack of critical thinking, historical context or understanding of what the RF actually stands for and how it works . It’s a bit of a playground mentality.

There's now a mute button? Last I saw, someone's request for one was refused, but this was a few months ago, so I must have missed its introduction. Where is it, please, as I certainly feel the need to use it for a couple of people.

I agree and I have noticed the same. Week in week out the same posters working up a sweat 💦 over the couple. I’m baffled why this happens all the time but hey ho I just keep on supporting and staying positive. I’m a big ol’ softie and I am pleased that Harry cares and takes action. Meghan too. He doesn’t send out a ‘tweet’ saying I support x, y, z. Instead, he does… you know actual…work. Any news H and M wish to share is then found on their own website or via the organisations they work with. They must be doing something right with all that charisma and royal sparkle as the people just keep lining up to welcome them into that golden stratosphere. It’s a shame the tabloids keep blowing up the UK’s image with their transparent games and tricks. Enough see through it now so that’s another win for a Prince of the royal blood (I say that phrase because the media here also tried saying he was no longer royal as he resigned). Eventually, the hacks realised it would not wash. Instead they tend to use ‘non working royal’. An oxymoron if ever there was one. 😂

Maybe Harry will take on the role of CEO as it’s being reported that Dominic Reid is stepping down. At least that would stop the blurred line of patron and the guy with all the responsibility of actually running Invictus.

Weird timing. Just months before the first Winter games. Mind you, this is the guy who really would have deserved the Pat Tilman award from what I am reading - a true unsung hero.
