Sussex Whiplash

ConstantGarden1 · 17/07/2024 23:14

Sometimes, all the different media outlets who purport to know the inner workings of all things Sussex can give me whiplash. One moment the Sussex duo are on the outs with everyone, hemorrhaging or devoid of influential friends, making no headway with Netflix, losing money, can’t afford their mortgage and claimed to no longer be relevant. Then Suits saw an upsurge in viewers - fantastic ratings on Netflix, the BBC buys Suits, Invictus is being promoted via Harry’s award and trips, he receives a heartfelt standing ovation, Meghan finishes filming a new Netflix series purportedly linked to a nascent commercial venture and a new podcast is set for next year.

‘Lonely’ Harry, as some will insist on writing, is also not something that rings true for me. He has too much charisma, energy, interests, causes and is a people person. I also cannot think of anyone who needs to say I am friends with x, y, and z on a regular basis for the benefit or not of strangers. We don’t know who they are friends with, really. Meanwhile, pundits continue to engage those interested in the couple with whatever they can attributing the information to some made up mysterious ‘sources’. I suspect their real friends are quietly keeping their own counsel. Especially, now they have seen the mutual pathological loathing that Harry and the tabloids have towards one another. Can’t say I blame them either.

Now there is this:

Frank A. Bennack, Jr., Chairman, Maureen J. Reidy, President & CEO

and

Tribute Chairs

Ariel Emanuel, Jon Feltheimer, Whoopi Goldberg, Taraji P. Henson, Matt Johnson, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Gayle King, Debra L. Lee, Mellody Hobson and George Lucas, Scott Mills, The Honorable Nicole Avant and Ted Sarandos, Kerry Washington, Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Invite You to

Cocktail Reception 6:30 pm
Dinner & Program 7:30 pm

The Beverly Wilshire Hotel

Cocktail Attire

Considering Whoopi G had less than favourable words for the couple I’d like to have been a fly on the wall at any meetings held. No doubt ‘netizens’ will have their microscopes to the ready to give us all their ‘insights’ regarding the events of the evening. No doubt I’ll get whiplash again when all their combined fingers hit the keyboards.

Happy to. You never had to respond to me at all. You have to be aware of your contribution to this derailing too however. You could have just recognised the quoting clutter was unnecessary and just continued with your chat.

Big dick energy arguably got them in this predicament in the first place.

Please stop now. You are derailing this thread. @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar has done nothing wrong, and in fact I prefer to see the quotes.

Also, what on earth is big d*ck energy and balls? We've heard and seen a bit too much of those parts of Harry. @Nevermetaghostididntlike .
Also, he has a voice? Yes, because he's a pampered white prince. His privilege gives him a voice and a million opportunities closed to others.
You know what? He's still a professional victim and I think it's appalling.

I don't think Harry has ever grasped that he gets attention, in the main, because of who his family is. If he could I think he would find life a little easier and we would be spared his blathering on on subjects that others are much more qualified to speak about.

I don’t recognise quoting clutter though. It’s a perfectly valid function for discussion on these threads that all of us actually contributing to the discussion use. And I won’t be policed by someone who has hitherto not been a part of it. HTH.

It never occurs to him! Weirdly, it never occurs to Meghan, either! They're a peculiar pair.

Mylovelygreendress · 19/07/2024 18:05

What would Harry be without his title?

Did anyone answer my question ( yesterday I think) about why H and M don’t give up their titles and break completely free from the toxic institution?

Any update about African Parks ?

CoffeeCantata · 19/07/2024 18:09

TheRecollection
Neither of them look happy at the moment because their pigeons are coming home to roost.

I agree, and this is undeniable - although some brainwashed propagandists have tried to claim otherwise. It was quite painfully obvious at the ESPY event. Harry looked on the brink of a panic attack, and the set of Meghan's jaw, as Venus glared at her, was really rigid. That was one 'professional' smile. And whatever the propagandists say, there is really no explanation for that awful, embarrassing mass-exodus unless they felt uncomfortable and unwelcome, which I think they did. I think they both panicked and decided to leave before things became too difficult.

The bottom line (apart from everything else they've messed up and misjudged) is that no-one trusts them. And their 'friendships' do seem to be very transactional rather than based on a real personal connection and...yes, trust.

PPs have mentioned their inability to take advice, and I agree. That's been the problem from the start. William's advice to Harry about taking things slowly, the 'men in grey suits' who managed Harry's PR and gave him a lovable persona, the Queen, KC, plus any number of staff and PRs. But I bet no-one DARE give them advice they don't like. I'm sure they're so immature and petulant that they surround themselves with 'Yes-men and women'. They've had a huge staff turnover and it must surely be partly because when they're given professional advice and they don't like it, they sack people - or bully them into resigning.

I remember listening to psychiatrist Dr Raj Persaud talking about why Harry's therapy is probably seems not to be doing him any good - because no-one wants to tell him the truth. He wouldn't be receptive to facing up to any difficult or unpleasant aspects of his own character or conduct.

This is what is quite frightening about him. He is meddling in affairs he has no place to meddle in - freedom of speech in particular via the Aspen Institute, whose reach goes high and wide. Talking to First Nations people in Canada and making promises on behalf of his father. Seeking out leaders like Andrew Holness to be a useful idiot in thei political machinations. I’m still agog that he gets away with it whilst at the same time being a drug user. There’s something really wrong with the entire legitimisation of the set up of his areas of interest, they make no sense given his drunken, druggie, loutish history that he had hardly thrown off. Or perhaps he’s just giving us a window of the rules of the privileged and the back scratching elite.

Meghan finishes filming a new Netflix series purportedly linked to a nascent commercial venture and a new podcast is set for next year.

There have been rumours that she can't get anyone to agree to interviews for her podcast.

There are rumours coming out that the Lemonada contract has been axed.

The executive producer for the original podcast said that it was her idea and she did most of the work, including some of the interviews. I will assume she is telling the truth as she's never been contradicted.

None of this is a good look.

Yes, this is weird.

US press reporting that she's sad that her podcasting came to an end with the demise of the Spotify deal, as she loves podcasting. But she's got the Lemonada deal - so why is nothing coming out there? No reason to give up something she loves when there's another platform ready and waiting

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 19/07/2024 18:22

@WinnieTheW0rm at the point she should have been getting on with the podcast, she prematurely started ARO to fuck up the Diana awards ceremony. So podcast delayed for a year having been announced to much fanfare, in favour of launching a brand with no products or IP protection. Also she’d have to actually do some work this time unless Lemonada are building her a studio and giving her a producer to do most of the work like Spotify did. Then there’s the matter of getting some guests to come on. The Spotify podcast wasn’t exactly replete with top stars apart from Serena and Mariah.

I confess I only listened to the Serena podcast as I am a big fan but I was so disappointed that Meghan didn’t really focus on Serena’s amazing career . Instead she told that nonsense story about the nursery fire.

IsoldeWagner · 19/07/2024 18:31

Harry reminds me of the Empress Farah Dibah of Iran. When she and her husband went into exile after the Iranian revolution, her life changed dramatically. She said at first she kept bumping into people, because she was so used to them parting and moving out of the way.
That's who Harry is. Someone so privileged that he expects deference in every situation.

A fire in - what was the deliberately demeaning phrase she used for the Governor's Residence - government housing?.

And thus p1ssed off the half of South Africa she hadn't p1ssed off with the dancing-in-the-streets-like-when-Mandela-was-released story in an earlier one.

IsoldeWagner · 19/07/2024 18:40

That ridiculous fire story, and saying she couldn't face doing the engagement afterwards. Even though people had made all sorts of effort, and others had come from miles to see her?

Hughs · 19/07/2024 18:43

They have a voice and will always use it.

Unless of course if it means addressing:

  • African Parks
  • online bullying of Kate (during a discussion of online bullying)
  • the behaviour of their Sussex Squad supporters
  • whether there are racists in the RF (they got as far as unconscious bias after 18 months of press speculation on the identity of the royal racist)
  • whether Charles and Kate are racist after OS named them
Etc Etc
Baital · 19/07/2024 18:43

They could have had the best of both worlds if their ego hadn't got in the way.

Used Archie's birth to say they wanted a private family life with their young family.

Kept some patronages eg Invictus and other particular interests.

No doubt KC3 would have kept funding them, and they could have lived most of their lives in California with everyone's goodwill.

But the need to be victims - when facing the consequences of their own actions- overtook all that. Their resentment that the majority of people didn't take them at their own sense of importance, because most people could see their only platform was Harry's position in the RF.

I wish I had had their opportunities! Not because I would want to be part of the royal circus, bit because they could have had immense opportunities while largely opting out of the circus. If their egos gad allowed it
