Will he?

I am no gambler but I can’t see it myself. Not unless he wants to show his support of his son. Would KC be that generous to his ‘darling boy’? If he did it will definitely upset some anti Harry royalists/daily mail readers/ right wing Americans. Can’t have Harry receiving the King surely….he is supposed to be beyond the pale these days.

William is reported as being ‘baffled’. Baffled? More like blazingly angry about it if true. I guess Will’s thought he could act like a ‘cuckoo’ and get Harry out now and forever. Maybe, the ‘bullying’ trait reported over the years by many, many people regarding him is still there.

I do like the republican with a special interest in the 5th inline to be monarch, it’s seems to be a special club. A multimillionaire before books and profits who is still so invested in the monarchy ensured his children remained 6th and 7th despite the institution or firm as Harry calls it. Its the old classic, “I’m a republican” is a complete sentence the word “but” really dampens it. Its a bit like I’m anti the Tories but I’d vote for Boris.

When you put it like that indeed!

To be clear, one can talk about Harry in a supportive manner without trolling anyone else. I believe Harry loves Kate.

Yes, exactly this!

Edited to say: I think Harry had great affection for Katherine, not sure about love!

Also legally minded but quite possibly not to the same level of training as you milkshake

Years of looking at legal documents, statements and rulings - trying to find lies, hypocrisy, inconsistencies and the like make for remembering shite that others might not.

Or looking for similarities.

Once you start, you can’t stop.

Very true. It can be a blessing and a curse. Especially when it leeches into private time!

'I happen to think that Harry and his wife have been treated poorly by the institution'

How so?

Probably @Gorgonemilezola because everyone ahead of Harry in the line of succession hasn’t abdicated or removed themselves to pave the way for Harry to become King and Meghan, Queen.
Oh and they weren’t gifted the whole of Windsor Castle when they married. They had to slum it in Frogmore Cottage.
Terrible, awful treatment! 😂

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 04/07/2024 19:13

And also, @GardeningIsntScrapingForSussex as a woman of colour with a rare royalist voice on this board, I don't like to be treated like an idiot. The legal training has helped with those sorts of situations.

But he lets the world believe she is a racist and says nothing.

And turns a blind eye when she is shredded on social media when she is ill. Despite allegedly abhorring online attacks and bullying 🤷‍♀️

Not to mention an uptight cow who won't share lip gloss, and a woman trapped in a marriage not of love but born of being the "right" (Stepford) sort.

Makemydaypunk · 04/07/2024 19:21

I really resent the assumption though that because I mostly support Harry, I must therefore be a massive fan of everything that Harry and Meghan do, and I am always being accused of being a supporter of the Sussex Squad when it’s simply not true.

Why as a self proclaimed republican why would you support any member of the Royal Family? either you are a republican or you are not, so by your own admission you do support certain members of the royal family, how is that being a republican?

I’ve explained this many times.

I have sympathy for Harry’s position and what he has said about the machinations of the Institution of the monarchy and the people it gobbles up and spits out. That’s slightly different to “being a supporter” per se.

I also don’t like the endless vitriol against him and his wife stirred up on sm and in the press.

Plus none of the RF can help being born in to the family they are born in to. It’s the Institution I object to.

Also, as previously stated, there isn’t really anywhere else for. Republicans to post except for the RF threads! And I think Republican voices should have the right to be heard on principle. Just as much as Monarchists anyway!

Makemydaypunk · 04/07/2024 19:31

The thing I particularly object to, is one person ie Harry, and his wife, being berated and villified over and over again in numerous newspaper articles and in numerous threads on here. And that’s because it feels too much like bullying for my liking. I would feel the same way about nasty threads if they were about William and Katherine as well.

So I presume you were all over the many Catherine threads which really was bullying on an international scale? The only reason there are so many threads about the H&M is purely through their very own words and actions, when they put interviews, books, 6 part Netflix series amongst many other things it will invite comment and opinions, you support them all you like under the guise of being a republican and the rest of us will continue to analyse and comment on Meghan and Harry’s behaviour.

What about the attacks on the Prince of Wales and the baseless rumours perpetrated about him? It’s not his fault he was born in to the same institution as his brother either

IcedPurple · 04/07/2024 19:32

Why do you seek out this 'vitriol'? It's perfectly possible, as I said above, to go through life barely reading a word about a self exiled prince and his wife.

Plus none of the RF can help being born in to the family they are born in to. It’s the institutions I object to.

You must also object to people using British royal titles in a foreign republic? And pretending to have an 'office' of the 'Duke and Duchess of Sussex'? Not to mention inflicting royal titles on their children?

As a republican, it would not be logically possible for you not to object. Would it?

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 04/07/2024 19:34

And going on quasi royal tours of commonwealth countries

TicTacToes · 04/07/2024 19:35

Harry made a statement very early on this year about leaving Kate in peace. Do you think he needs to repeat himself? As for the ‘racism’ re Kate. That is very old now and there are bazillions of opinions on that. He did not name her. If he had at the time there would have been a backlash against Kate. He was taken aback by Oprah revealing the conversations she had with Meghan. Of course he had to acknowledge there was truth in that conversation. Otherwise, he would have been dishonest. He never accused anyone of being racist. As for Meghan no white person can ever know the experience of what it is to be on the receiving end of unconscious bias, micro aggressions, covert racism (or whatever else you would like to describe her experience). As Charles and Meghan were writing to one another about the events (the conversations held with Harry) it can also be seen that Meghan had her own feelings about everything that transpired. They did not lie.

As for support for Harry from the outdated institution that has been sadly lacking. Proven time and time again.

I have noticed on this site that people seem to be jumped on when they have any positive opinion about Harry. Immediately dragging and conflating the subject matter at hand with irrelevant and often misleading points of view.

I'm not sure what the poster's problem is?

It's not like she's posting a principled republican case. She's simply reiterating all the usual stuff about 'vitriol' from the 'British media' towards her preferred royal. Who of course she doesn't really care about.

If she hadn't told us she was a 'republican', I wouldn't have had a clue.

Makemydaypunk · 04/07/2024 19:39

Most of all I think we should be allowed to express our individual opinions without others on these threads querying our right to do so all of the time.

There are a couple of serious republicans who post on these threads at times, their opinions are always interesting, no one queries their rights to be on the threads at all because it is very clear which side of the debate they are on, it feels disingenuous to claim to be a republican and yet support a Prince of the Realm and his Duchess wife, no one is saying you don’t have the right to post, it’s claiming to be a republican that’s the issue.

smilesy · 04/07/2024 19:41

the Sussexes said they wished her “peace and healing”. Not quite the same as condemning the attacks she received on social media in their name

I wasn’t “all over them” no.

I commented on one or two of them making points about the poor Palace communication as I recall.

I didn’t say anything nasty about Katherine and wouldn’t do so.

Again, I don’t know why it’s so hard to understand that if you don’t like nastiness and trolling on principle, you don’t like it full stop about anyone!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 04/07/2024 19:44

The racism charges against Catherine are not old. They emanate from Omid Scobie’s “mistake” in his Dutch version of Endgame, released last November. Harry has never sought to correct the charge, as he did post the Oprah interview vis a vis QEII and Prince Philip. The only source for that information contained in letters between Charles and Meghan (where names were allegedly named) is Harry and Meghan. So they wanted the information out there.

I am a woman of colour, and I call bullshit on most of what Meghan has said about race issues within the RF.

So KP and W&C put out a statement saying clearly that she's having an operation, and will be back after Easter.

Then the really nasty rumours start, and gain momentum. Driven, we now know, by a concerted campaign.

And you reserve your criticism for KP?!
