It happened last night at her home 🤔

StripedTomatoes · 24/06/2024 12:38

Considering she lives on a large country estate, "at her home" could mean anything. I'm guessing she fell off a horse.

Allmarbleslost · 24/06/2024 12:39

My first thought was a fall from a horse too. I hope she's ok.

smilesy · 24/06/2024 12:39

Daft bat. She was probably climbing up to clean the top of the curtains or something. Just the sort of no nonsense thing the Princess Royal would do, bless her 😂

wordler · 24/06/2024 12:41

Sounds like might be horse related.

smilesy · 24/06/2024 12:41

Ah. The BBC is reporting that it is indeed horse related

AutumnCrow · 24/06/2024 12:41

She's sustained minor injuries and possible concussion. Agree it's likely a fall off a horse or a tumble of some sort. Lord knows I've had a few myself.

Usually (and ideally) it means being monitored for 24 hour, I think, though this may vary by postcode.

CrushingOnRubies · 24/06/2024 12:42

This a screen shot from what the Times is saying so looks like a horse incident

Wowzel · 24/06/2024 12:43

Southmead hospital is a major trauma centre

AutumnCrow · 24/06/2024 12:44

Oh that's tough. It's horrible being nutted or kicked by a horse. They are so powerful.

Mylovelygreendress · 24/06/2024 12:44

How long before someone comes along saying “ bet she didn’t have to wait for hours in A and E”

Doesn’t sound like she’s suffered major trauma though

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 24/06/2024 12:45

Ooof poor Anne. Hope she has a speedy recovery.

JawJaw · 24/06/2024 12:45

@smilesy down to earthy, ballsy, gutsy, no nonsense work horse blah blah etc. in my day she wasn’t popular, she was seen as curt and arrogant. Now for some reason you can’t open a newspaper or forum without finding someone falling over themselves to say how marvellous she is. I guess it’s when the RF were running out of headline acts they had to revive one from the back benches.

Anyway, as a fellow older woman I wish her a speedy recovery.

Or she’s been beaten to death by the King 😆

MrsMoastyToasty · 24/06/2024 12:45

She will be getting the best of care. Southmead Hospital is a brilliant hospital (and local to me).

Edited

Well she’s 73 so I suppose they will take no chances.

Oh I agree. I’m just wary of it being pointed out that it’s a major trauma centre with the tin hat brigade around

ARichtGoodDram · 24/06/2024 12:48

2024 is not a year that’s being kind to the health of royals!

Hopefully she’ll make a full recovery

hastalav · 24/06/2024 12:49

Precautionary and observation I'd guess.

And TBH many people WILL mutter something about whether or not she had to sit for 18 hours on a chair in A+E, I don't think there's anything wrong with that when the vast majority of the population have to endure that when presenting with an injury.

However, I'm sure she was triaged like everyone else. Which makes me think that the speed of her admission means a slightly worse injury than concussion.

Your outpouring of unpleasantness kind of makes your last sentence difficult to take seriously.

To be fair I've waited in A&E at Southmead, was never 18 hours or anywhere near. I'm not royalty but also in my 70s.

Glad to hear it. But elsewhere the picture is often very different.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 24/06/2024 12:55

I came across a very good comment the other day - if you tell yourself that a person making unpleasant comments to or about you is telling you nothing about you but everything about them and what's going on in their life, those comments sooner or later won't matter to you at all. (also applicable to those making unpleasant comments to you about third parties, as above).

A clumsy paraphrase but you get the drift. Very helpful for this page on the site. Just rather sad that so many people seem to have this compulsion to repeatedly expose their inner ugliness.
