Thedom

Gwyneth Paltrow sending her best wishes to Catherine on Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account.

That'll push the SS into further rage and, hence, more mad threads/posts.

The only positive thing I can take away from some of the rantiest posts is that TTC and Kate's appearance were obviously great successes and the SS are absolutely livid because of it.
It's interesting how they're rapidly becoming increasingly unpleasant when they basically have no ammunition whatsoever. They used to try to appear a little more reasonable and less obsessed, at least on MN. I understand it was different elsewhere.

She can’t go out on the palace balcony in her trackies. Honestly what are you on about?
I bet you’d get glammed up if they asked you to appear up there with them.

I'm more thinking about the glam hair in the photo they released but thanks for the reply. Of course I absolutely expected her to wear trackies on the balcony... ffs.

It just makes me uncomfortable how much onus we put on her being beautiful and perfect as a sign that all is well.

I have to be honest, I feel really sorry for him. He may have wealth and privilege but it must be overwhelming to know this is going to be your life and you’re going to get a lot of hate just for existing (he didn’t choose this life). Charlotte and Louis have it easier (which is why I think being the ‘spare’ is pretty much the best job in the world).

He’s also going to get a lot of love. And I really doubt a ten year old thinks so deeply about things. He’s ten. He’s at school. Has fun with his mates. He’s a sick mother. His future life and how he chooses to behave as king is a long way off. Long way. Probably at least 40 years.

Wow. What an incredibly ignorant idea of legitimate protest 😳

Wow. What an incredibly ignorant idea of what should get broadcast on a state occasion.

I think people are thinking 1. Well she got dressed up she couldn’t feel so bad and 2. She doesn’t look peaky and pale…which Charles did.

And in that we are reassured in someone we don’t know. It satisfied a surface care. Just like you’d see someone, an acquaintance, who’d been ill out looking well and you’d go: Oh you look great. You feel relaxed and have little interest then in what are perhaps the daily struggles of this person.

In reality someone dressed her, did her hair and perhaps even her make up this time. Now that she could tolerate that is a great sign. But she wasn’t herself. She is ill. Slower and more deliberate. Anyone who has been ill over a period of time, not just cancer, will know the bashing the body gets and how on some days you feel a million dollars and probably overdo it and the next you can’t do a thing. There is a huge psychological adjustment to being ill for any period of time. And then a further readjustment when you are well again. Kate looked really great but it was obvious she wasn’t herself also.

Edited

Agree with this. There’s a danger everyone will think she’s fine and will be out and about doing stuff again as normal. She may well push herself too hard in order to meet public expectations. She needs everyone to stop focusing on her and when she’ll be back and let her heal.

MissTrip82 · 16/06/2024 08:34

She looked great. I like to think of them getting home and putting on track pants and having a curry and a glass of wine.

Or whatever the royal equivalent is.

I hope she is having a dressing gown & messy bun day in front of SaTC reruns with roast chicken on a tray. Although she appears to me to be made of sterner stuff than that, as the Queen Mum was described, she definitely has a core of steel about her. Stiff Upper Lip, dear.

MartyFunkhouser · 16/06/2024 08:48

To me, she looked exactly as well as she’s always looked. I think some people are trying to see any sign of her frailty because we know she has cancer, when in fact, it’s not there. Perhaps she was knackered afterwards, but the public show and appearance gave absolutely no hint.

JADS · 16/06/2024 08:58

It was good to see Catherine and she looked well. Her statement was very good too; cancer treatment is horrible. Their children are well behaved, but are also children in that they have moments of boredom and fidgeting. I had a dress like Charlotte's in the mid 80s and I loved it.

We live in a democracy - people are allowed to protest. We don’t live in a feudal system where the king gets to decree only the subjects that bow to him get to be visible 🙄. It’s terrifying that anyone thinks this is how it should be - another bloody good reason to get shot of the lot of them.

Can you quote what was embarrassing?

Your sickening sycophancy, to the extent of implying Meghan’s friends shouldn’t have the temerity to use social media during an appearance by Kate, is what’s embarrassing.

William said they do get takeaways, I think it was a radio 1 interview. Staff collect them under a different name.
Their years at Uni and in Wales living "normally" probably did them, and hence their children, the world of good.

I’d be embarrassed.
I’ll leave it there because you’re only here to be goady and cause trouble and I’ve no time for you.

2019 was lovely hot and sunny day, I went as I live in london. 2024 however cold, forecast rain which it absolutely did hammer down for about an hour and preset miserable weather. I stayed home and watched on telly.
I think that might explain the crowds. Although I still bet it was absolutely packed and people were under the trees on the mall.

In fairness, @LaMarschallin, it can't be easy for those who've thrown so much behind their idols to see it all frittering

It's over four years now since H&M left, and while some of us hoped it would work for them all we've seen is endless spite and lies, numerous "initiatives" which result in very little, the withdrawal of the A listers whose company they craved, and now scrabbling around to make fake royal visits and flog jam

We all make mistakes, but some of us are able to say "Well, I was wrong about that" ... and some aren't

Typo
