Really? How the feckin’ hell does a rabid tabloid know what Chuck thinks about this. Nice chats over video away from the courtiers and listening ears of the royal ‘servants’ is exactly what is needed. I hope they are enjoying the private time emensley!

King Charles is 'not content' with just seeing Harry and Meghan Markle's children, Archie and Lilibet, over video calls, royal sources have revealed.

@BlueParrotRedParrot have you read many bills/statutes/government paperwork? Laborious stuff to read through and understand). Loads actually-you picked the wrong woman!

Good, so have I. With the benefit of a law degree and years on the job. So you will understand how difficult it will be for a lay-person and how much of his time it will take up for him to understand what his government is doing in his name. So, do you still think he has plenty of time on his hands?

an island bristling with dangers
🤣

Be not afeard, Meg; the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight, and hurt not.

I remember the 2018 documentary in which Harry paid tribute to his father's work and achievements.
Quite extraordinary.

King Charles has definitely been ahead of the curve with his ideas regarding the environment. I remember when he was mocked for his ideas which have now become mainstream. KC has lived a full life, has a profound sense of duty and Harry does recognise that. He knows his Dad is busy too. He stated that recently.

I don’t believe in playing the cancer card indefinitely though. We don’t know that information or even if he is still receiving treatment. He has definitely lost weight and needs to keep his strength up as he is an older gentleman. He should receive support from his family which I believe he has. William and Kate, Edward and Sophie and Anne have been marvels for the Monarchy and he has rewarded Prince Edward with the Edinburgh Dukedom for his lifetime. That was one of the best things to do. Another smart move was appointing David Beckham as his ambassador for his foundation.

KC just needs to sort - publicly - his relations with Harry and squash all the ‘snubbing’ rumours. My guess is he will do something, again, when the time is right regarding Harry. I’ve no doubt he loves his son and vice versa.

"Playing the cancer card"
What?!

Abra1t · 13/06/2024 17:40

I don't think you really mean that, do you?

Forfuckssaketheearthisnotflat · 13/06/2024 17:40

Please can you give examples of King Charles “playing the cancer card”

Ugh. How long, in your opinion, is someone allowed to suffer the consequences of cancer? Is there a sliding scale? Is he at least allowed to finish his chemo, in your opinion?

smilesy · 13/06/2024 17:44

I don’t believe in playing the cancer card indefinitely though

So are you saying he is using the fact he has cancer as an excuse for something? Wow.

I am not putting it past any newspaper to keep harping on about it to garner sympathy. And yes, some people have used the cancer card. Google it.

"some people use the cancer card. Google it"
Some people tap dance and whistle.
Nowt to do with Charles.

Please provide an example of Charles doing it, since that is what you are claiming he can’t keep doing forever.

For a moment I’ll ignore the fact that you seem to be blaming someone for being unwell here. If the newspapers are harping on about it as you put it, what has that got to do with the King?

What are you saying then?

Mylovelygreendress · 13/06/2024 17:55

I don’t believe in playing the cancer card indefinitely though.

It’s 2.5 years since my diagnosis and start of treatment. Maybe you could let me know when I should be completely back to normal ( although without part of my body)? I can then tell my Consultant that I have had long enough .

BlueParrotRedParrot · 13/06/2024 18:03

While we are waiting for a reply, shall we pontificate how long someone can keep playing the "race card", the "poor me card", the "I need more money card" and the "I'm unsafe and need taxpayer paid protection card" when they are highly platformed, multi-millionaire members of the world's pre-eminent royal family, and more privileged than almost every one of the 8.1 billion other people on the planet?

IsoldeWagner · 13/06/2024 18:04

Well those cards have been played for some years now. That won't stop.

Bet she wouldn't recognise a line of Shakespeare if it came with Made in Stratford on Avon stamped all over it.

spanieleyes · 13/06/2024 18:20

Prince William stood in for the King at the second part of the D-Day celebrations as King Charles had further treatment on the Tuesday and so was advised to take it easy! ( read somewhere but can't recall where!)

CurlewKate · 13/06/2024 18:24

@BlueParrotRedParrot @So you will understand how difficult it will be for a lay-person and how much of his time it will take up for him to understand what his government is doing in his name"

He's been doing it for years. He has competent assistants. And, crucially, he will have excellent briefing papers so he is unlikely to read everything. We are very skilfully sold the image of the "hard working royals"

MaturingCheeseball · 13/06/2024 18:25

“The cancer card”. I’ve heard it all now. No doubt Kate’s got a handful of cards too.

Who are these foul posters saying this stuff? Would they say this to people in real life? I really am astounded at such nastiness Sad

I have really struggled to remain positive and cheery for the sake of my DH, DC and DGC but there are times when exhaustion or anxiety floors me . The thought that anyone could think I am “ playing the cancer card” is very distressing.

Tizzwazz · 13/06/2024 18:29

Prepare yourself for the deliberate misunderstandings@DingDingaling of your point here. Yes, the establishment newspapers will deploy the cards needed to keep the status quo of privilege. I understand what you mean. Charles, himself, no he is not and I can see that you don’t mean him personally. Sadly, all the sob stories will now pile on in. We can’t believe the truth of someone’s experience of suicidal ideation and the long term effects of that but we will play many a violin for the King’s c. Hypocrites on here are two a penny.

MaturingCheeseball · 13/06/2024 18:31
