“But if gloves come off completely, Meghan has already hinted that she's not bound by any confidentiality agreement, though I'm not sure what else she alone could come up with that she hasn't already.”

Coffee, what would prevent her, in that case, from just fabricating and insinuating further still, as she has done in the past? So, I do think she continues to pose a real threat as she has shown how she won’t let the facts get in the way of a good story.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 12/06/2024 13:58

When the Squaddies started pushing the message of the whole UK is racist, I am surprised that the Sussexes didn’t issue a statement saying that the OW interview was about their problems with the Firm but they had no problem with the general UK public who can be seen in photos genuinely cheering in the streets on their wedding day and greeting them warmly at engagements etc

We know that they can issue quick statements like Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were not the royal racists so they could have easily defended the general public too. They dragged the general public into their teenage tantrum about not being the heir so deserve what they dished out first.

If MM decides that she's not bound by any confidentiality agreement (are there even any in existence?) then the RF might decide that the gloves can come off about the bullying allegations, and any other stuff they might hold.

Not that I'm sure they'd want to, but threatening to go public with damaging stuff is a two edged sword.

I just can't get over Harry allowing the reputation of his country to be trashed by the SS. Meghan - yes - she has no loyalty to the UK - in fact, quite the opposite. But I would have thought Harry might stick up for his homeland against the crazies. The UK may not be perfect, but it isn't the nasty, racist hell-hole 'Salty Island', which it's labelled by the SS.

But as someone else said a while back on MN Royal, M & H have created a monster in the SS (or sat back and watched it develop) and now it's too big and powerful for even them to criticise!

LaMarschallin · 12/06/2024 14:17

I quite liked the name "Salty Island" when I first saw it.
Made it sound like a really small island where you're never too far from the briny sea 🏖
Still not totally sure what it means now, really 🤔

AutumnCrow · 12/06/2024 14:27

I really don't think any further 'revelations' will be taken seriously by the British public. I think the Nigeria trip blew it for them.

The Harry & Meghan Show is now more akin to a particularly humourless and deceptive scripted reality series - it's entertainment, but it's not important in any way.

Sounds the same for the US, increasingly - they are fast becoming figures of fun, and/or irritants, as are their devotees.

The National Enquirer had Meghan on the front page for it’s May 13th issue. “Meghan Laughed Out of Hollywood”.
I agree that they are certainly seem figures of ridicule now.

Not that it’s a serious publication but you get my drift 😂

Harry was keen to make a statement in, I think, 2016, when he said, in effect, stop hassling my girlfriend. Of course he could have made other statements over the years, to set records straight. He hasn't/ doesn't want to.

But I was reliably assured via an Oprah exclusive interview, that the US doesn't have tabloids.

It's a puzzler. It's almost as if.... things claimed on that interview weren't true!

WHAT??
Next you will be telling me that it wasn’t true that Archie wasn’t given security because of the colour of his skin.

Is this the same Archie that wasn't going to be allowed to have a title because of his skin colour?
The child who is known as Prince Archie?

BemusedAmerican · 13/06/2024 03:05

I found the no -tabloid comment very confusing. The National Enquirer, The Weekly World News. People Magazine I view as an upscale tabloid.

But what do I know? I was just born and raised in a major US metro area.

Shewaswanton · 13/06/2024 06:39

Yeah, Bemused, you probably need to brush up your US general knowledge. As do I, because I’m only half American, and got the impression just from queueing at a supermarket checkout that there were stacks on sale right there. Obviously I was mistaken.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 13/06/2024 07:00

Unfortunately plenty of people believed what H&M said on Oprah. Some still do.

I expect it wasn’t all plain sailing the same as for Kate, Sophie, Fergie and lord knows Camilla had it rough but to openly lie is unacceptable. I’d say more people are seeing through them now.

Passiflora2 · 13/06/2024 07:05

You must have a very sad life.

Tizzwazz · 13/06/2024 11:58

Shine on. Star power. 💫🌟✨

Meghan was never part of tabloid culture and ‘tabloid America’ is nothing like the establishment sponsored tabloid newspapers in the UK. The UK papers are renowned for their venom and manipulative headlines. Unfortunately, they are very well read by the middle classes. Hence their power to foster narratives of misogyny, covert racism and xenophobia.

Apples and oranges come to mind regarding what the papers do here and are absolutely mainstream reading material compared to the National Enquirer. The NE is a joke and no one with an ounce of sense takes it seriously. Definitely not something decent people think is informative or truth.

BemusedAmerican · 13/06/2024 12:09

Actually @Tizzwazz The National Enquirer has been very right over the years. We had an elderly aunt with a subscription ( arrived in a discreet brown wrapper like a porn magazine) who would pass on her old issues. It got to be a running joke that the NE was accurate. WWN, of course, is completely nuts.
