Can you appeal for ever? Like those people on death row who lodge appeals year after year for decades? If a judge declines the appeal, can you just have another go in the hope of getting a more favourable judge?

Frankly he is never going to get IPP. The costs and obligations would be obscenely huge.

Serenster · 09/06/2024 09:24

The appeal route goes:

High Court > Court of Appeal > Supreme Court

But they are not of right, you have to get permission at each step of the way and you have to have an important point of law to have an appeal heard in the Supreme Court. (Also, for those wondering, Harry’s judicial review is in the Administrative Court, but that’s a division of the High Court).

So does that mean he can then go to the Appeal Court then Supreme Court or am I missing something?

MaturingCheeseball · 09/06/2024 09:32

Echo Mylovelygreendress. Does this mean he has barely started on his journey up the courts? Shock

BemusedAmerican · 09/06/2024 10:57

Well, when he ends up broke due to court fees, maybe he will rethink his life choices. I cannot imagine spending much of my life in court.

He was granted permission last week to go to the Court of Appeal. If they also decide against him, he can then ask for permission for an appeal to the Supreme Court. Which is unlikely to be granted, but he has the right to ask.

I would guess he's not thinking about that because he's certain he'll win.

Vespanest · 09/06/2024 11:44

this is the one case should he be successful is the one he needs the most, the millions spent is nothing compared to the future security costs. All the rubbish spouted that this is just for UK security is blown out of the water if Harry is expecting other countries to foot the bill for his security and could lead to further issues if it is then believed the UK government should compensate countries whilst he is visiting/living them. This doesn’t impact just Harry this could set the precedent for the Wales’s children. So much for not costing the UK government a penny

IsoldeWagner · 09/06/2024 11:54

That's it, @Vespanest - he wants limitless taxpayer funding.
Not because he's doing an important job, but because of how he sees himself: Very Royal and Very Important. An IPP if you please!
He won't care how much it costs us.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/06/2024 11:58

If he stayed in a hotel last time he visited the UK then his argument IMO is blown out of the water anyway. He can't (well, he can, but not seriously) argue that he isn't safe in the UK without the level of security his DF gets but then go and stay in a hotel.

TraitorsGate · 09/06/2024 12:07

I think he will win the right to appeal, it's a matter of principle for him, he is hardly ever in the UK anyway so it's all just to make a point . If he ever does come here the RF offer him somewhere safe to stay with security, its his choice not to accept that and stay in a hotel. He's hardly likely to do walkabouts on his own, except in one of his many court cases, so will have security like the rest of the RF.

IsoldeWagner · 09/06/2024 12:09

He has now, and will always have, taxpayer funded security when in the UK.
He is more than sufficiently protected.
What he wants is IPP status and limitless protection even if he's just at social events.

And plenty of RF to stay with, didn't any of them offer him a bed for the night ,is staying in a hotel really necessary just to prove a point.

He was offered a stay in Windsor Castle when he came over for the Invictus ceremony. He turned it down on the grounds it wasn't safe. He chose to stay in a hotel instead. He's a complete tool.

If ever there was a bloke who doesn't think his arguments through, it's Harry. 'No, I can't stay at Windsor, even the level of protection pop gets isn't enough for me, I'm so special. I'll stay in a hotel instead.' 🙄

I read it was because his Netflix chums weren’t allowed access 🤷‍♀️

Which again, shows where his priorities really lie. It's not about security, it's about getting his own way.

And they certainly won’t going to let the sled-identified Sussex squad members who were traveling with him stay either.

BlueParrotRedParrot · 09/06/2024 13:31

His Netflix chums who want to film the inside of royal quarters and broadcast it for every would be burglar/stalker to see. Not bothered about anyone else's security, is he? He's a liability. The RF needs protection from him!

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/06/2024 13:36

And there's the other thing. Who knows where the hell they'd be poking around to get some interesting footage? security issues aside - and that's a big aside - who in the RF wants to think that a camera crew might tiptoe into private apartments and start filming?

I don’t think it was Windsor. I think that is where he would have liked it to be, as would his wife. I think he would have agreed to stay there in a heart beat. It’s an actual castle. At the time most thought he was offered St James’ palace which makes sense as it has appartments available and is also close to Clarence House so he could have easily met with his father. And it is of course secure. Although apparently he wasn’t happy that the entrances were not private 🤷‍♀️

WhataPithy · 09/06/2024 13:48

This really angers me, he is so pompous and blinded by envy and hate so thinks nothing of putting the cost on tax payers. Well he made it clear in the past how much contempt he has for the general public.

He is so deluded to strive for the IPP status. At the end of the day he’s just some bloke who is married to a b-rate influencer.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/06/2024 13:51

He really does have an inflated idea of his own importance, doesn't he? William engages with all and sundry on engagements and makes private visits to give awards when people can't get out; HM has nice little chats with people he meets while he's out walking; and Harry throws a strop because the plebs might see his comings and goings.
