I think it's a genuine letter. The incorrectly phrased title and the twee language give it away. She's really going to town on her supposed Nigerian ancestry, but I would be surprised if she ever visits again. If the aim was to explore her 'heritage' then why the need for cameras, private jets and 'appearances'?

Serenster · 01/06/2024 23:00

“Your Imperial Majesty”? I wonder if Meghan told the recipient she felt like his title comes from a “Medieval Times” restaurant?

ArcaneWireless · 01/06/2024 23:09

I think it would have been a lovely touch to sign the letter with her new Yoruba name. It would still have said Meghan, DoS underneath.

Although I appreciate that might not be the done thing.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 01/06/2024 23:09

Funny how’s she’s not remotely interested in her Children’s British Royal heritage spanning the past thousand years.

Because that is not about HER!

Makes me think of Mr Stevenson in the Canteen 😂

Some of you still pained that Harry and Meghan were popular in Nigeria
The UK media deliberately misinterpreted what the First Lady of Nigeria regarding Meghan in order to discredit the couple.
The Nigerian media have accused the UK media of being racist and have focused on Britain’s colonial past and the destruction and havoc the British caused in Nigeria. Some of the problems in Nigeria today are directly as a result of colonialism and the continued influence the British have in Nigeria.
The desire to retain the Commonwealth is simply because the UK is not the global power it once was and needs to align itself with other nations particularly since Brexit

The truth is that the Nigerians have proved that Harry and Meghan have global appeal.
Send them to any country in the Commonwealth and they would be popular.
The same cannot be said for any of the other royals which was proved by The Cambridges
disastrous tour of The Caribbean .

The TRUTH is that Harry and Meghan would have been a major asset to the Royal Family if it were not for the petty jealousies exhibited by other senior members of the royal family

Yep!

Funny how’s she’s not remotely interested in her Children’s British Royal heritage spanning the past thousand years.

Yet they've chosen to have the children use the titles "prince" and "princess" and even named the daughter Lilibet.

DelectableMe · 02/06/2024 06:43

All of this just confirms how much she wants to be royal, be seen as royal and have royal titles.

Exactly!

Mylovelygreendress · 02/06/2024 07:50

I thought the visit was about Invictus not Meghan ?

DelectableMe · 02/06/2024 07:55

No, it was all about Meghan.

DelectableMe · 02/06/2024 07:55

No, it was all about Meghan.

Silly me .

LaurieLeecountry · 02/06/2024 08:38

It takes some sheer front to make a trip which was supposed to be about Invictus all about her and her ‘heritage’. Really breathtaking.

Vespanest · 02/06/2024 08:42

It would have looked strange on invictus headed paper, but it could have at least used Archewell to represent something other than Meghan. Why send a personal letter to then hand it over for everyone to see. Keep reading how successful they are, global superstars, then why the need for constant PR.

Janiie · 02/06/2024 08:52

'The TRUTH is that Harry and Meghan would have been a major asset to the Royal Family if it were not for the petty jealousies exhibited by other senior members of the royal family'

The TRUTH is that Harry and Meghan would have been a major asset to the Royal Family if it were not for the petty jealousies exhibited by Harry, his desire to call the shots and then flouncing when he was told to sit down and stfu. Fixed that for you.

I wonder if she knows that “imperial” means relating to an empire? I thought they were against all that 🤷‍♀️

Quite. I do think there's a basic comprehension problem at times.

LaurieLeecountry · 02/06/2024 09:34

I think she’s trying to make her heritage as important as Harry’s. It’s quite pathetic.

MrsFinkelstein · 02/06/2024 09:47

LaurieLeecountry · 02/06/2024 09:34

It never occurred to me until you said that, but it makes complete sense.

She really is. She knows that everything she currently has and will ever get now is solely due to who she married and his family. So she's trying to show she has her own lineage.

But her being gifted a Nigerian title is akin to a celeb being gifted a random doctorate from a University.

Nothing against the Nigerian RF, but it's the same as all the Russian and Italian "royalty" popping up in various Hello spreads.

The British RF are the most well known and important Monarchy in the World. She will never top that. Its just a shame she doesn't appear to want to introduce her children to their heritage in a dynasty that spans back 1500 years and has been involved in some of the most influential events in history.

Edit spelling

Because that is not about HER!

If we're talking DNA, it's very likely Meghan herself has considerable British ancestry. Quite possibly she is as 'British' as she is 'Nigerian'.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 02/06/2024 10:50

But her being gifted a Nigerian title is akin to a celeb being gifted a random doctorate from a University

Or some of the RF being granted honorary military titles when they've never served in that role or even at all

It's all an opportunity to "dress up" something which doesn't really exist and seems to me at least to be downright pointless

IcedPurple · 02/06/2024 10:38

Well yes, but that doesn’t suit her narrative. Her father’s family were originally German but she seems to have airbrushed that out.

AnnieSF · 02/06/2024 11:04

@IcedPurple I meant that if it were the children's heritage the attention would be off her.
