I was quoting you in bold on my above post @Wickedlywearynamechanged your words read differently to your intent. Ok. No worries.
Meghan’s behaviour is scrutinised in the media, yes. However, it’s unfortunate that she continues to feed this with pseudo Royal tours and PR campaigns. It’s the complete opposite of the Princess of Wales who is very poorly and just wants to be left alone, yet isn’t being allowed her privacy because Meghan’s people keep trolling her.

AliceOlive · 30/05/2024 12:08

Wickedlywearynamechanged · 29/05/2024 23:59

I didn’t say there were paid bots on this forum. It is the anti Meghan posters that have posted on here about their beliefs that there are bots.

My eyes are too tired to find the post where I wrote about bots but it was not in reference to who is on here. (I have thyroid eye disease and have lost a lot of my vision - today is a bad day - and scrolling back for posts can be difficult).

My point was that Russian/chinese interference aren’t needed because the tabloid media are doing a very good of stirring shite up and people are happily consuming that media without question.

Name changers are frequent on here. On both sides, I’ve noticed. I’ve changed my name but don’t hide it. That’s because I’ve deleted my account a couple of times. Most recently during the months of frenzy surrounding Kate. I keep coming back after these breaks but I’m starting to realize just how useless this is. I’d like to have a conversation about the way famous women are dehumanised, and the good woman vs bad woman narratives as a form of controlling women. This forum would seem to be an ideal space to have this conversation (as Meghan is most often presented as being the very bad woman and Kate is the very good woman) but it seems most regular posters just want to push on with finding things wrong with Meghan (and Harry, although I care less about Harry. He’s as privileged as the rest of his family. Eye wateringly privileged - the lot of them).

Why delete it?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/05/2024 12:29

Regards the name changers and new posters, my case in point is perfectly illustrated on the other thread that we are all on. There are at least two posters who have not been on MN before, posting the most disgusting comments

While obviously it's not our decision to make, this is why I really wish HQ would stop allowing the incessant namechanging

I can just about see there'll be some circumstances where folk have posted something deeply personal and wish they hadn't, but what you're describing is very far from that and the changes clearly aren't being done with any good intent

EdithWeston · 30/05/2024 12:57

That's quite eye-opening - but not for the reason you mean

The popularity among Millennials for Prince Andrew is 14% (v 4% of Boomers)

Ohpleeeease · 30/05/2024 13:33

I don’t like namechanging but sometimes needs must. I’ve had some unpleasant exchanges in the past, not keen on going there again! (I do miss my old username though😔)

Oh I completely agree that there are times when it’s necessary and warranted. I certainly wasn’t aiming at posters like yourself. Thankfully, I have never needed to. Although really tempted as I don’t like my username. It lacks wit and any kind of personality 😂
However, the constant name changing from some is spurious IMO. I am struggling to know who to engage with at present. There are obviously some posters that are on this platform for nefarious reasons. Like the poster who claimed to be ‘new’ but then has just started a thread (which back in the day when I joined, wasn’t allowed until you’d participated in a certain number of threads as a contributor but TBF, I’m not sure if that’s still the case).

The name changing is confusing, and I'm fairly new so don't have the history some do here. There were a couple of names, who disappeared in the awful Catherine rumour era, who I enjoyed chatting with, I wonder if they named changed but I'm not good enough at online tone to work out who they might now be.

I'm not sure if some names are bots but there are definitely some posters who are here maliciously posting vile rumours and clearly tag teaming. Is rather think they were AI bots than that actual people make money like that.

There is one regular poster who namechanges with pretty much each of the many threads they start. It was odd, as their posting style was instantly recognisable, so why bother? I saw them here quite recently, with yet another user name, and I expect to see them again soon with another.

MaturingCheeseball · 30/05/2024 14:12

I have changed name a few times in the past 20 Shock years, the last being during covid when I was pursued by a very nasty poster.

I can recognise a few posting styles so know it’s the same person (or team…). Especially the reams of press releases/links/statistics which they just happen to have at their fingertips. Then there are the very unpleasant ones who are clearly US-based SS. It’s hard to tell if they are one person or ten but they all do the Duchess Meghan/princess Meghan thing.

A lot of those 14% probably don’t know who he is or mix him up with Edward.

ArcaneWireless · 30/05/2024 14:43

I like a name change now and then. Just for my own amusement. Not to play silly buggers though. I’m still the same me.

I have name changed also because the amount of nastiness was immense on one thread many years back. Another from a name I properly loved because of a couple of arses.

It is what it is.

But if folk think they aren’t recognisable after a name change? Don’t kid yourself on.

AliceOlive · 30/05/2024 14:46

SS has openly described attempts to mass report and get people banned on X. I think SM posters name change to avoid that.

I was going to say that there is one poster who likes to name change for shits and giggles, but you beat me to it @ArcaneWireless 😂😂

MummyJ12 · 30/05/2024 14:57

That’s a good point @AliceOlive
It’s clear that some get confused as to which platform they’re on duty on! Didn’t one poster say to block them on one of the threads?!

God, it's so pathetic. The majority on these RF threads are happily arguing both sides in a civilised, calm and articulate way and we're all enjoying the discussion. No hating necessary! Criticism, opinions, reflection, yes.

Then someone appears stage left with (and I apologise...I'm going to out myself as an intellectual snob here...) a very teenage user-name, a dozy, unoriginal jibe on the lines of 'why do you care', and a barely literate post peppered with huns and lols.

Do they really think we take them for genuine posters?

Yes if you don't nc you tend to get targeted on here too I'm sure mnhq just delete to keep them quiet sometimes.

Talking of which where have the last remaining fans gone? I mean 10/10 for persistence, maybe the Nigeria gaffes were the final nail in the coffin for even the most avid cheerleaders. I haven't been called a hater, frother or obsessed for aaaages 🎉

Not a bad idea sadly Olive

It can get a touch intense for no reason.

It struck me as a strange thing to do on your wedding anniversary, given that for their first Meghan apparently recreated their Botswana Love Tent in the garden at Frogmore Cottage. I’m not knocking it, it’s a very romantic thing to do, but a long way from dinner for four with two people they seem only recently to have acquired.

Would that have been just a couple of weeks after she gave birth? Superwoman or another fairytale?

My mistake, just googled and it was Harry’s 35th birthday and not their wedding anniversary.

Even more surprising to go to all that trouble for a birthday but spend your wedding anniversary with a couple who seem new on the friendship scene.

MummyJ12 · 30/05/2024 16:12

I read from the Entertainment Lawyer that the couple they were out with on their wedding anniversary was Dan Schneider and his wife? Interesting choice of dinner companion if that’s the case….apparently they got a jar or jam too!

Oh I dunno. First anniversary with ex we decided to go to Amsterdam. We stayed with a mate from work and after a day out met him in his second home (local bar). There was an almighty party going on - this was 1981, Berlin Wall was still up and travel restrictions for people behind the Iron Curtain were in place and draconian. Mate's mate had just managed (after YEARS of trying) to get his Polish gf a passport, she had arrived in Amsterdam and the drinks were on him all night.

Original mate pushed us out of the door around midnight with a reminder it was our anniversary, (nudge nudge) and didn't we have anything else to do? (nudge nudge). Fat chance after the amount we'd drunk 😆
