To continue the discussion.

I thought the comparison with the Duke snd Duchess of Windsor (last post on the previous thread) was interesting.

A visit to a dodgy regime, (Nazi Germany) because they would call Wallis HRH and make it a quasi-royal tour.

Of course, at that point Nazi Germany had a dodgy human rights record, but it was before the horrors of the Holocaust.

Let's face it, with the security and human rights issues there is no way the IG could happen in Nigeria. So that is sn excuse.

I look forward to the lemons and jam! Would you like to bit of salt?

I’m not sure what that means!

Quoting myself but in reply to the various posters saying words to the effect of “different spots are allowed”.

That is so unrelated to and different from what I said, that it sort of proves my point. For so many different (are they? maybe they’re one and the same) posters to misread/make the very same mistake in comprehension stretches credulity. Is there a script? Notes given? Once upon a time the ripostes used to be more aggressive and use the race card. Nowadays they’re more gentle, faux naif, seemingly confused. At all times, it’s like there actually is a script being followed.

Taking on one of your points.
Why would anyone feel the need to be aggressive when discussing people they have never met?!

It is possible to disagree politely without being a fake account or paid poster or whatever your accusation is.

Could it be that these posters are not that invested in the royal family…and are just posting because they found this thread interesting. 🤔

LizzieBennett73 · 10/05/2024 19:17

I think the trouble with both of them is that their ego doesn't match their abilities. They bounce from one disaster to the next and wouldn't know an original idea if it bit them on the arse.

And I'm really disappointed with Invictus that yet again, any promotion has become the "Meghan followed by Harry" show. I'd rather hear the veterans story than word salad, thanks all the same.

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 19:18

I didn’t mind the dress but it was definitely too long & the colour was a bit weak. Thought her styling was great though. Loved the white suit though.

May I offer you some cheese in exchange for the salt? I have some fine dragon slayer that’s delicious. Doesn’t go with jam, sadly.

(not that I know what the salt is about, but it’s generous of you to share whatever you have at hand.)

Have a look at the image of it - Guess Who's Back thread, final post.
It really is not a flattering dress......

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 19:21

Once upon a time the ripostes used to be more aggressive and use the race card.

I reported a racist comment upthread which has since been deleted & I assume I wasn’t the only one. Would that be classed as aggressive?

I shouldn't be too grateful - they've probably accrued copious supplies.

Do you mean the characterization of Nigeria? I think it’s unreasonable to describe a post like that in those terms.

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 17:52

There’s no bingo cards. I understand why people label H&M as entitled, hypocritical etc. I don’t understand why people are annoyed about where they visit or who they visit or if they make jam.

But I won’t get a response, just a bingo!

You did get a reply. Royal Tours are at the request of the government. Official meetings of heads of state or their representatives for clearly defined purposes. Accountable and accounted for. Haz and Megz tours, expensive jolly for no particular purpose. Who’s paying and why? Nobody knows.

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 19:23

@IsoldeWagner the picture of her head & arm? I can’t see much of the dress there tbh.

AliceOlive · 10/05/2024 19:25

If you are here calling posters racist because you don’t like what they’ve written, that’s been done to death and lost its completely lost all meaning. I don’t think you can expect a reply beyond “bingo”. Ditto. With misogynist.

Maybe you are new here so I wanted to explain.

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 19:25

@Ohpleeeease but H&M aren’t short of a few bob. If they want to go on expensive jollies for no reason what difference does it make?

Ohpleeeease · 10/05/2024 19:27

Sorry, I wasn’t clear, whoever is paying it won’t be H and M.

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 19:28

@AliceOlive No, the comment I reported & has been deleted was not about Nigeria.

Maybe you are new here so I wanted to explain.

Was this to me? You’ve lost me.

No, the post was the one I also reported. That called the whole nation backwards.

I’m sure anyone would agree that is racist.

IcedPurple · 10/05/2024 19:29

The UK's Royal Family visited (at tax payers' expense) Middle Eastern regimes 217 times since 2011. This is the official figure, the reality if likely to be higher. The regimes in question are brutal, autocratic with little to no semblance of human rights and you can completely forget about women's rights. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia clocked up the most visits from the RF with 40 each.

Have you got a source for that 'official figure'?

Because that would mean that a member of the Royal family has made an official visit to a 'Middle Eastern regime' on a more than monthly basis in this time period. That seems rather high.

Where did you find this 'official figure'?

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 19:30

Sorry, I wasn’t clear, whoever is paying it won’t be H and M.

Is that the issue? I’m not particularly bothered who pays, more fool them! Maybe the want PR?

Maybe it includes Harrods?

You can bingo all you want but there have been a few racist comments on this thread. People (not me) have reported them and MNHQ must have agreed that the comments were against guidelines because they have deleted them.

If you are sure and adamant that there is no racism on this thread please contact MNHQ asking them to reinstate the comments. I prefer that actually, it gives you the true flavour of the thread....

Personally I think it's possible to make a point without resorting to insulting, name calling, racism or offensive language (that comment about Nigeria upthrwad WAS pretty offensive).

AliceOlive · 10/05/2024 19:35

Nah, that’s not really how things work here.

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 19:38

Perhaps it’s because I am new but I didn’t get this memo. Are you saying that calling out a racist comment is not what you should do & racism doesn’t matter? Is that how it works?

OneHeartySnail · 10/05/2024 19:38

And of course, it has since been found that Germany and its allies were 'courting' the Windsors in the hopes of using them to undermine the UK government, hence the flattery, and the 'HRH'ing when Wallis hadn't been given that title - and she and Edward resented it.
