To continue the discussion.

I thought the comparison with the Duke snd Duchess of Windsor (last post on the previous thread) was interesting.

A visit to a dodgy regime, (Nazi Germany) because they would call Wallis HRH and make it a quasi-royal tour.

Of course, at that point Nazi Germany had a dodgy human rights record, but it was before the horrors of the Holocaust.

Let's face it, with the security and human rights issues there is no way the IG could happen in Nigeria. So that is sn excuse.

They're visiting Nigeria publicly, in an official capacity as Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex with the clout that being members of the British royal family brings. Obviously this trip has not been signed off by KC or PoW.

I reckon the Sussexes will be stripped off their titles before long.

The way they engage in public international engagements as members of the BRF undermines British diplomatic relations. At the end of the day it's not about Lady Di fans or Sussex squad, these are insignificant groupies.

This little trip will end up costing H&M and their kiddos their titles.

Backless is also quite unusual for daywear, isn't it?

Yes, it is but I think it’s balanced by how covered up the front is. Perhaps the back could be more covered up, hard to find a photo of the back but I just don’t agree that is awful or scarring the children.

Although some people on here no doubt would claim it's what they wear to work 🙄

I thought it was backless too. But it’s not. It has a wide panel (is that the right word?) going from her neck down.

So it’s just shoulder-less.

Aside from the fact that the style is not appropriate for meeting children, it’s not the most practical dress either. It looks like a trip hazard at the very least

The grass will stain the hem too.

All the photos with Harry and Meghan watching Nigerians performing in front of them look dreadfully colonial. They are too funny, H&M, little self awareness or even media awareness.

I am well aware of the history relating to the D&D of Windsor thank you, but it’s not a remotely fair or even rational comparison.

This is a thread about Meghan and Harry’s visit to Nigeria. Nazi Germany has nothing to do with it! Talk about tortured logic! I’m surprised that Mumsnet have let it stand tbh.

And if you think there is “no reason” to think that current day Nigeria will go down the same path as Nazi Germany why compare the two in the first place?

None of this is logical and it’s very disrespectful to Nigeria as a country.

It’s fair enough if you don’t like H&M but this is just desperate frankly.

If you think it’s a fair comparison then why not mention the video of our dear late Queen and the Queen Mother making a Nazi salute as a child? And Prince Philip’s four sisters who married Nazis? Unfair to do that I suppose?

The comparison is with disgruntled ex-royals visiting countries with dodgy human rights records to prop up their egos.

The video of QE2 as a child giving the Nazi salute, early in the Nazi regime, was making fun of it.

Philip's sisters (who weren't British) married Nazis. Philip served in the Royal Navy throughout the war. His mother is recognised as one of the Righteous Among Nations for sheltering Jews in Nazi occupied Athens, risking her life to do so.

But I am.not sure how that justifies the Windsors propping up their egos with their quasi-royal visit to Hitler

That's the front. We're talking about the rear view.

I can’t see a rear photo, have you seen one?

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 20:14

This is the dress from the back

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 20:15

So it’s sideless I guess 😆

OneHeartySnail · 10/05/2024 20:15

Seems a bit of an odd choice for daytime, and a trip to a school

I told you before. The "Guess Who's Back" thread. Final picture.

Good grief. Does no one advise her? At all?

She doesn't need it. She's got Harry, remember?

What “wide panel”?

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 20:17

I don’t think it’s the best choice, I just don’t think it’s the worst choice in the world. Maybe she was trying to avoid underarm sweat patches!

IsoldeWagner · 10/05/2024 20:17

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 20:14

It's not much better in that colour, really. Not a good style.
Maybe she just wears what people send her for a promo, could explain it.

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 20:18

@IsoldeWagner thats a side on photo not a rear photo? Are you referring to a different photo. I’ve linked the dress up thread anyway

ToCoffeeOrNorNotToCoffee · 10/05/2024 20:18

Or maybe Harry told her it looks tres sexy 🤔

IsoldeWagner · 10/05/2024 20:18

smilesy · 10/05/2024 20:16

Oh good lord. That view is even worse.

I understand what you are trying to achieve with your comparison but I just find it bizarre, illogical and disrespectful to Nigeria frankly.

I do not think that's the dress. The one you posted looks a bit better, although not very stylish, imo.
Have a look at the recent post, from @smilesy .

aparagonofvirtueanddecorummyarse · 10/05/2024 20:20

I wonder if she has to return the dress?

Would explain the lack of fake tan on her arms and back.

You wouldn’t want to be trying to wash that out.

Don’t be so flaming picky 😆. You can get a pretty good idea of the back from that photo and it certainly doesn’t have a “wide panel” that pp alluded to. Unless her back is about 4 feet wide

MummyJ12 · 10/05/2024 19:49

The students didn’t look too impressed to me. I would hate to be looked at like this…..it’s a look of disdain.

Hilarious! I think they learned that look from meghan herself!!

IsoldeWagner · 10/05/2024 20:21

I think it looks bad because of the shade of peach as well as the awful style.
