Harry came to England and had 15 mins with Charles. Went on to Canada and did a TV interview about it during an Invictus visit.
Harry is coming to London next week where apparently he’s due to meet Charles again. Then onto Nigeria where no doubt he’ll be asked how his dad is by whoever is doing media for them, and he’ll give chapter and verse, emphasising the father-son relationship.
He’s being played, in this Nigeria trip, and he doesn’t even know it. Heck, he’s being played by his wife and he doesn’t even know it. It won’t be a tour to see the country. It’ll be a tour to see places where the IG could be held. There’ll be some ceremonial greeting etc, but none of the pageantry that an actual royal visit would have. Nigeria will want to maintain its ties with the BRF. Why jeopardise that by doing what they well know isn’t allowed by the BRF ie treating Harry and Meghan as royals?
In my old job I used to do a lot of deals with emerging markets, of which Nigeria was one (as far as Europe was concerned). Hardly any passed legal and compliance tests, which didn’t exactly have a high threshold ($$$ in everyone’s eyes). The IG will need to tread very carefully, and they’ll have trouble on their hands if Harry and Meghan apply pressure on IG executives because they would be personally enriched. And you just KNOW they’ll pull the “why wouldn’t we do a deal with Nigeria? Are you being <gasp> racist??”
It’s a minefield. They’re such a headache. The RF either has to pull Harry back in, or let him go entirely.
