To continue the discussion...

What next? What did the launch aim to achieve? Did it get the desired result?

Back to the “soft launch”, that would normally include a handful of products being offered. A local restaurant did a soft launch of a new location. That meant a few days open by invitation to existing customers and a sampling of their menu.

ARO hasn’t launched, they just threw up an little promo.

It's not a bricks and mortar business though

With a restaurant, you want to start with lower footfall, so you can check everything is working, that the staff know what they're doing and that the supply chains work.

What are typical launch strategies for an online sales venture, then needs to get people to click on it. So once it's out there, doesn't it need to be putting up products (even a limited range) or at least content (maybe with affiliate links) just to keep target customers interested?

I expect they'll be collecting e-addresses, but emails quickly look like spam, if there are too many for the level of content

I think it’s great to have a different opinion but it’s important if you put an opinion out to be open to discussing it. Not basically accuse people of being tribal.

im very surprised anyone in their sixties would classify a woman in her forties as a young mother, it really is stretching credibility.

as is saying the business has opened. From what I can see it has not, and that’s a major part of this discussion, they have simply launched a brand

I am in my 60s , one of my DDs is in her 40s . Neither she nor I regard her as young mother even though she has primary aged DC.
Anyway , these threads were going so well ………..

Quite correct.

Just all air and puff.

Just a sly way of calling anyone critical old and unattractive.

Neither is a particularly good insult, in my opinion.

To me she is attractive but definitely not 'incredibly beautiful'. Eye of the beholder and all that.

But beauty is not really a rare commodity. California is full to the brim with gorgeous women. Why would she in particular be the target for this alleged envy?

I agree with you and I’m the first to call out a woman’s positive qualities. I think Megan is attractive. And I think a lot of that is down to grooming and her stature. Ie slim figure etc and how she presents rather than her actual face , which I think is quite pretty.

I don’t look at her and think she’s incredibly beautiful, there are not many people I’d put into that exalted bracket. Angelina jolie. Eva Mendes. Margot Robbie , Charlize theron I would classify as beautiful women and I don’t think Megan comes close. For me she’s attractive like Kate or Victoria beckam, or Amanda Holden, attractive women who present well. but not ones who would go down in history as incredibly beautiful

Extremely misogynistic too.

So we're all eaten up with jealousy just because someone is supposedly younger and prettier than us?

Anyone else prefer not to indulge the obvious derailer?

Yes on the Meghan out and about thread MHQ stepped in, it’s clear what this poster is doing, the faux naivety is so transparent.

What! She'll surely make the jam herself, in her kitchen with fruit picked by herself, from her garden?!

I know you're being tongue in cheek there, but I was wondering if she is going to try the domestic goddess approach, and have site content that shows her making preserves/spreads/chutneys from things that could be from her own orchard.

Then sell homeware and jam. The sort of stuff that you might find in a NT/stately home/palace gift shop?

You will find it was others who brought up the Sussex Squad and accused me of being a member of the tribe if you read back thanks.

I pointed out that Mumsnet don’t want us to go down that path.

We have different perspectives about age I guess, no biggie.

What’s wrong with launching a brand?

Thanks everyone. Bowing out now as free and fair debate is not possible.

I honestly don’t think a few individuals (far too old enough to know better) taking to chat forums each day is going to impact the lives of this young (relative to their average critic) royal couple. But it’s amusing that some think their actions are so impactful. Meghan still wakes each morning as a member of the royal family and a multi-millionaire with the same influence, and social and business opportunities that few could hope to achieve – despite any derision from people who have far less to boast about. All that, and being incredibly beautiful. That wouldn’t attract much envy, would it? Hmmm...

If people keep resorting to the same old jibes, I will have to resort to repeating the same old answers:

1) I'm not envious of Meghan. I do not detect any envy of her on this thread. By many (if not all) accounts she and H are in deep doo-doo and losing friends and support each day. I much prefer my life, thanks.

2) 'Young royal couple'. Well, they are still a couple - as far as we know. But they are no longer royal (they flounced out of the RF) and when they first met they could be described as 'young middle-aged'. With Meghan now into her 40s they are most definitely middle-aged. I think this is a serious point - Meghan, since we've had the pleasure of getting to know her, has never been a young, wide-eyed ingenue as Diana (whom she loves to channel) was. Diana was 19 and a bit of a lamb to the slaughter, but Meghan was twice her age and a divorced woman when she met Harry. I think, because she's had work done and looks young, people such as this poster excuse a lot of her behaviour which frankly cannot be excused. She was a mature woman and an experienced actress when the entered the RF and the idea that she was a helpless young maiden will not wash with me!!

  1. My personal view (and obviously this is subjective) is that Meghan was and is a very attractive woman with the wealth to top up her looks through surgery, expert treatments for hair and skin etc, and access to wildly expensive clothes. I don't think she is beautiful, though. But I don't give people credit for being beautiful - it's great if you're lucky enough, but it's not an achievement.

I actually was only half joking! I thought she'd make it herself!

EdithWeston · 09/04/2024 17:58

What’s wrong with launching a brand?

Nothing - but what are your views on the lengthening gap between launching the website and then doing something with it?

No-one has yet been able to explain the strategy and why it's a good one (even though ARO is the main point of the thread). Instead consensus seems to be gathering round the view that they are losing momentum and that that does not bode well. However, if there is a different business perspective, it could be a good thing to have laid out, especially if by any MNetters who work in that field (or should that be orchard Grin )

Cripes, if I started to get jealous of women younger and more attractive than me it'd be a full time job.

I do have serious Meghan hair envy, though.

Salemforcuddles · 09/04/2024 18:00

Surely they must have products and are just arranging a launch date? What kind of idiot would set up a website without product?
