Yes that is exactly what she is doing and I think it is symptomatic of the knee jerk, jump headlong behaviour that they both display. “We must sell something really British” instead of “let’s think about what would actually be a good product with the resources we have”. Maybe a fusion of typically British and Montecito. Lemon gin for example 🤷‍♀️

Oh smilsey I do like your idea a lot. Sadly I think H&M don’t laugh at themselves enough in a jovial and mischievous way these days and are trying to compete. They don’t have genuine clout behind them and years of tradition like the royal products so lighthearted seems an obvious route.

However I think M deliberately chose something quintessentially British because she is milking her royal connections because that's all she has

It's speculation, based on Meghan choosing a launch product that doesn't really fit with the orchard brand. It doesn't seem too unreasonable to me. The branding is quite clearly meant to evoke her royal connections after all, and she's using her title.

It's her brand. Surely she's best fit to say what is and isn't a fit for it?
Plus - her brand at the moment from what we can see is sending some jams out to friends, and social media pages of a logo and nothing else
So how does it "not fit?"

I don’t care what she calls it. I just think it’s going to be difficult to up scale and doesn’t really have much of a USP. It has already inadvertently boosted sales of the Duchy and Highgrove products. It just seems like a pale imitation

Nothing screams "quintessential British style" like American Riviera Orchard, Montecito.

Also, Duchy Originals had to be bailed out by Waitrose a few years back because it was making a loss.

It's very different from the smaller, more personal Highgrove brand.

People are allowed to be interested in branding and production of a manufactured product during the launch and promotion phase. It's a free country.

It's always dressed up as "I'm just interested in the marketing and the branding of a new product" isn't it .
