What exactly is "the Sussex Squad"?

Prydddan · 06/04/2024 14:56

I don't know whether this is too controversial a topic for such a thread to be allowed to stand. But I post in good faith on a topic I believe has a lot of social and political relevance.

Does the "Sussex Squad" actually exist? If so, how do you join? If not, do people ever identify as belonging to it?

If it exists, was it hijacked by SarahData and Bouzy or was it their creation? And, if so, to what extent?

Thanks in advance.

Bouzy also just announced on X that he is writing a book about the disinformation campaign against Meghan Markle. This should be interesting. I hope the NY Post has excerpts as I won't buy it and give him any money.

Crossed post

BemusedAmerican · 14/04/2024 19:28

@Vespanest I suspect we are both stunned and appalled. Does the UK have Court TV? I would love to see him and Hamlins in court.

So he recognises that there is disinformation against the Sussexes, but is ok spreading bollocks about the Waleses. How bizarrre 🤪

Hamlins is the same firm representing Prince Harry, Elton John, Sadie Frost. etc. Looking forward to seeing them depose Princess Catherine to get her admit that she is lying about her cancer and faked her video.

We don’t have depositions as part of the UK court process, I’m afraid, Bemused American.

On the other hand solicitors do have rules on conduct making it clear that they cannot just regard themselves as”hired guns” for their clients and they also owe duties to the courts, third parties and to the public interest. It is considered improper to undertake predatory litigation, or to conduct knowingly unwinnable cases. So hopefully Mr Bouzy will get a bit of pushback on some of his claims?

Oooh, I didn't pick up on that aspect of the pattern at all.

Probably proves nothing apart from the fact that I'm on here too much!

MummyJ12 · 15/04/2024 14:16

A perfect example of their tactics. They pile on and call to mass block anyone not “on side” and then try to get people removed from the platform.

Some people really haven't matured beyond the playground, have they? "ooooh, let's block/ignore her, that'll show her!" with 23,500 followers, it sure will. And she won't even know. 🙄

OneHeartySnail · 15/04/2024 15:10

On-line bullying. I look forward to H&M calling it out... or not, strangely....

AutumnCrow · 15/04/2024 15:43

I daresay there will always be people online who admire displays of conspicuous consumption dressed up as a form of goodness. It's still all predicated on hierarchical structures, but in terms of the non-royal royals, it perhaps makes the heights of the pyramid seem more accessible?

It's probably more appealing to an audience that sees in H&M a supposed subversion of royal heredity, rather than an obvious reinforcement of it.

IsoldeWagner · 15/04/2024 16:44

@AutumnCrow - they'd only subvert it if they stopped using titles, didn't call their children Prince and Princess, didn't expect people to bow and curtsey, didn't use a Coat of Arms.
They're royals, through and through.

ForIAmAStalwartOfTheseThreads · 15/04/2024 17:02

One is a royal.

The other is an ‘orf with their heads’ Queen of Hearts/Hertz pretend royal type. Thinking she’s summat when she’s nowt.

Call me Harry. Call me Sir. Call me ma’am.

I know what they have been called in certain circles.

It ain’t those suggestions listed.

NigellaAwesome · 15/04/2024 21:34

@Ratsoffasinkingsauage I would just like to thank you for adding swivel eyed loon to my lexicon. Thanks

Perhaps you should stop pretending. The Duchess of Sussex is a member of the royal family. There is nothing you can do or say to erase that reality.

Who ever said she wasn't??? Just wish she would act like it.

ForIAmAStalwartOfTheseThreads · 15/04/2024 22:03

Well quite runner

And yet another reading something in posts that isn’t there.

As for maybe stopping pretending?

I’m pretending I give a shite.

They're royals, through and through.

Indeed, but a number of their supporters appear not to see what others can clearly see. Hence my careful(ish) use of 'supposed subversion'.

And if the Sussexes have held on to royal titles (and acquired additional royal titles for their children) in order to argue their need for armed security 24/7 as Internationally Protected Persons (IPPs), then that ship has now well and truly sailed with Harry's appeal denied.

Smartest move they can make now is to hand back all the titles voluntarily, wrong-foot the 'Squad', and gain some respect and sympathy from regular people. But they won't. As the great bard wrote,

Oh, would some Power the gift give us
To see ourselves as others see us!
It would from many a blunder free us,
And foolish notion:
What airs in dress and gait would leave us,
And even devotion!

Narinder is practically one of them she loves H&M and hates the RF I’m surprised they’ve blocked her

MummyJ12 · 19/04/2024 07:41

You’re absolutely right there @YaMuvva
It just goes to show that they won’t accept even a tiny (what they perceive as a) slight against Meghan from anyone.
It feels cultish and quite scary, the SS seem to behave like they’re brainwashed and more than a bit bonkers!
Narinder is very pro Meghan and Harry, she was even saying that the SS had been ‘fair’ when they are annihilating her and mass blocking her on X!

AliceOlive · 19/04/2024 12:29

Can anyone explain the purpose of the “mass” blocking? I think there may be a few thousand accounts that post under SS banner or hashtag, at most. Many of those are probably gone now with the cleanup Musk announced. Do they really think they will have an impact by blocking someone?

StickyWickets · 19/04/2024 13:04

What I found interesting was that even in the height of the MN 'frenzy' when the influx of visitors appeared, all highly critical of Kate, William and of course not forgetting 'the way in which the palace handled the PR', the voting polls on the threads STILL ended up in favour of the RF.

What does that tell us about the influence of the SS I wonder?

MummyJ12 · 19/04/2024 13:37

Good question @AliceOlive
From what I’ve seen on X, it’s a pile on bullying tactic in that they bombard your feed with horrific and vile messages then block you. Hashtag SSBlocklist it’s called.
There’s also a thought that after a mass blocking, accounts are more susceptible to suspension so it would therefore be a way of getting someone suspended from the platform too. They aim for the suspensions because they want to control the narrative and cleanse social media of any negativity and criticism of the couple. So only sycophantic posters are wanted. (It is along the same lines of the mass deletions here.)

I think they really believe that they’re more influential and important than they are @StickyWickets Although, when you look at the Mother’s Day photo that was killed, which all started with a pile on from the SS across all social media platforms. As did all of the conspiracy theories about the Princess of Wales, which became toxic in the mainstream. They are obviously very good at getting misinformation out there and causing trouble.

It’s why M&H can’t speak out against them, they can’t risk the tide turning even though the SS are a PR nightmare for the couple and they are everything that Meghan and Harry supposedly stand against.

AliceOlive · 19/04/2024 13:40

@MummyJ12 That sounds very familiar.

I’d love to see an analysis of what went on all over social media during that time. New registrations vs name changes vs multiple accounts. Who was reporting posts, most particularly.

MummyJ12 · 19/04/2024 14:06

Me too! I have only ever been deleted once (from memory) on MN and that was on a M&H thread following the Oprah interview. I was only questioning how they were going to continue to stay relevant. I’m still asking myself why that post was deleted and what on earth was going on around that time on here and elsewhere.
