Somewhere I read a criticism of William, as in why wasn't he there by the side of her when she made her statement.
She is an intelligent, capable woman, quite able to speak for herself. Perhaps he was standing near but out of sight, or maybe they had looked at the wording of the statement together and he had left her to it while he went to do something else.
Perhaps he respects the fact that she is an intelligent, capable woman, and knew that she didn't need him sitting on the seat gazing at her.
I expect the un-made up face and casual clothes are what William and the children are very used to seeing. I say no make-up but there would have been a little bit of moisturizer if nothing else.
It was a good time for the statement. It puts paid to the Easter expectations, it updates the public while having given C and W a bit of time to get used to the news themselves, and it was on the last day before the three children's holiday.
Someone pointed out that they had noticed her hands while she was speaking.
I thought her speaking sounded easier than she often has done at formal events. She might not have been easy with feeling it was time to make the statement, or the message she was having to give, but she seemed to be at ease with the wording. It sounded very straightforward to me.
