There's lots of speculation from some sources, some unhinged, some less so.

OP posts:

This is entering a new level of Batshit fuckery every day

InWalksBarberalla · 18/03/2024 11:11

It's twitter, these rumours absolutely snowball. The Americans were going off over night - charles dying on St Patrick day on a Irish holiday.

She had surgery and was out if commission till Easter. No secrecy apart from what the operation was for and that's her business. Why does anyone need a photo of someone convalescing?

Honestly, some people wouldn’t be satisfied even if the Beeb announced that Kate had had an op for a severe case of piles. They’d want a spread-cheeks shot of the op site, too.

There is so much grossly distasteful nosiness, all too often masquerading as ‘concern’.

They're all dead. Everybody's dead, Dave. Everybody is dead.

Oh God!

The absolute crap which has infected this board over the last week is so depressing.

Social media - what a curse, and how it exposes the stupidity of so many people.

This is why we've got the politicians we've got, and why Trump and Biden are the chosen ones of the wealthiest democracy in the world with its huge population.

Someone said 'When people stop believing in religion, they start believing in absolutely anything!'

And I'm an atheist, but I know what they mean. Ugh.

MenopauseSucks · 18/03/2024 11:32

There are photos of Charles at Buckingham Palace 5 days ago meeting the Commonwealth Secretary.
He looks a bit frail, his profile is a lot more like his father's & he still has sausage fingers but is very much alive.

As for Catherine?
My theory is that she has had bowel surgery.
A friend of mine with Crohn's disease had to have part of her bowel removed & had an ileostomy for about 6 weeks before they stitched it back together. She wasn't at work during this time & found the whole thing really embarrassing.
Timing might make sense & also explain why there has been so much secrecy about it.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/03/2024 11:45

I doubt some would be satisfied unless the members of the Royal Family each had a webcam permanently broadcasting what they were doing, and even then there'd be arguments about whether it was all fixed.

Branster · 18/03/2024 12:04

You lot are making everything so bloody confusing!

Let me see if I got this right:

Catherine has had surgery so she can look like Charles as a stand-by replacement in case he was to die before Easter?

Where does that leave the late Queen? It's all been arranged that she will re-emerge at Easter like a Jesus re-birth sort of thing.

ArcaneWireless · 18/03/2024 12:05

ChiefEverythingOfficer · 18/03/2024 10:58

Can we report absolute bollocks threads and ask for them to be deleted?

If MNHQ just put their foot down, maybe the fools will stop posting crap.

#edit have reported, let's see what happens.

Edited

That would be nice.

Unlikely but nice.

Prawncow · 18/03/2024 12:10

We could have a Batshit Conspiracy Theory board and all these threads could be relocated there. Like the Covid board.

The late Queen is alive.

She just needed a little break. She’s been spotted in Blackpool.

According to so trusted sources.

Branster · 18/03/2024 12:19

@ChardonnaysBeastlyCat it all makes sense now!
Now I can relax safe in the knowledge the world has not gone completely mad.

jeffgoldblum · 18/03/2024 12:19

Try walking through a wall perhaps?

LilyBartsHatShop · 18/03/2024 12:26

Maybe start carrying some garlic on you whenever you go out, just in case.

Apparently there's a superinjunction put in place by the RF until Wednesday, which suggests they're about to announce something, but no suggestion that it involves Charles directly.

Apparently eh?

Summertimesunshineandfizz · 18/03/2024 12:42

Apparently Covid can adversely affect IQ. These threads seem to support that theory.

The late Queen will emerge from the shower, like Bobby Ewing, and the last 18 months will have all been a dream.

On politics live they have actually discussed the lascelles protocols ( the monarch approving a general election) in the light of Rishi Sunak ruling out 2nd May.
I do think this suggests KC may not be as well as is suggested.
There are so many potential dead cats out there at the moment.

Eh? If Charles dies, there will still be a monarch to approve a general election. Do you understand how hereditary monarchy works?

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 18/03/2024 12:48

I can't believe I'm getting sucked into this conversation.

Kinsella1 · 18/03/2024 12:49

Wtf 😅

ismu · 18/03/2024 12:50

These are the lascelles principles en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lascelles_Principles
Basically that the GE can be refused if there's a good reason/ it would be detrimental to the country at that time.
It's just been discussed on the BBC!

Yup. They declined my request.

Nor surprised.
