Making a drama out of it or an all purpose fav pinched response?

Looking at it you haven’t been snark free either.

It doesn’t have to be adversarial on here no. I wish it wasn’t sometimes.

But pithy and somewhat goady snark often begets snark.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 18/03/2024 17:51

martellotower · 18/03/2024 17:47

Oh ,another for my list of handy non responses

"I can't open the link "
"it's just an opinion piece "
and my fav ,the all purpose "What are you are talking about "
and now "More garbled incoherent nonsense I see.¬
marvellous, keep the pithy comments up BTW.

Thanks, I am rather good at them.

Sumthingsweet · 18/03/2024 17:55

Harry’s going to be King ! It’s the Daily Star all rush lol

Mirabai · 18/03/2024 17:49

It depends. Celebrity photos can be photoshopped by the photographer, and royal Christmas cards etc. This became a news pic so there are strict rules, I’m just not convinced it would have been killed over a solitary red eye in the circs, and we know there are many fails not just one. There are now other royal pics on the table as potentially photoshopped. There’s an uncertain interface between celebrity and news which is probably why the RF comms team thought photoshopping would be acceptable in the first place.

Edited

I think it does open up the whole debate on photoshop/airbrushing etc. not just for royals but all the images celebrities present and advertisers etc. I must admit before this debacle I didn’t realise the news agencies had this no photoshopping rule I always assumed these days that most photos were cleaned up in some way, seems Kate did as well.

martellotower · 18/03/2024 17:59

Any photoshopping is not allowed, not even red eye removal so to claim it has to have been heavily edited to be pulled is incorrect.

BTW have you proof that the claim that the photo was pulled because it was heavily edited is incorrect ?
There are articles on line discussing and showing how other RF photos have been edited 'one of the late queen on her birthday for example .These were published and not pulled .

BigWillyLittleTodger · 18/03/2024 18:14

The photo was pulled because there were edits, be they small or large the news agencies don’t allow them, I suggest you contact Reuters for clarification rather than me.

ArcaneWireless · 18/03/2024 18:17

I feel photoshopping should be allowed or it should not going across the board on published articles. Everyone can be treated equally.

Give yourself a tail and horns or scrub your spots/wrinkles/give yourself hair on your private SM. Spit glitter bubbles too for all I care.

But after the fuss about a Mother’s Day snap? Anything in a magazine/paper/broadcast can be au naturel from now on.

Not many, I reckon, would like the scrutiny.

You can surely see that photoshopping a fashion/beauty/cover portrait is totally different from manipulating a picture that is released to news agencies? News has to be accurate and trusted, not easy in these AI times.

It wasn't just a Mother's Day snap, it was circulated to the news agencies, attributed to William and dated as being taken in the week before its release. That was their mistake. It was news, it made the news even before all the photogate shenanigans and it was fake.

martellotower · 18/03/2024 18:25

I don't need to contact agencies , thanks .
Do you think this is the first RF photo to be edited?

I think every woman should have the right of photoshop.

Ceriscene · 18/03/2024 18:29

There's no real need to follow these threads anymore. They just go around in an information vacuum circle.

I'm going to have a soothing slice of Soreen with cold butter.

Once it was clarified, were the pics not reinstated by all?

ArcaneWireless · 18/03/2024 18:38

Either an image can be tweaked or not at all.

I’m all for making people look their best self should they wish. But everyone should have that right - not just some.

I’m afraid it matters not to me if that photo was fiddled with or not. It isn't as though her head is now a big angry commando bubble. She hasn’t superimposed someone else’s face on her shoulders. Or their arse. It is her face.

Everyone would have had a decent right to shoot up an eyebrow if she’d posted a photo of herself as a 17 year old. I would understand that.

All the conspiracy theorists screaming she’s in a coma/dead/turned herself into a giraffe have fuelled something pretty shit when there wasn’t anything that was that shit to start with.

It really isn’t that big a deal for most. It stinks of the waagh.

ArcaneWireless · 18/03/2024 18:40

I haven’t had Soreen for years.

I used to have it with butter spread thickly enough to see your bite marks in.

Nice.

TheCatOnMorrisseysHead · 18/03/2024 18:41

If @DistinguishedSocialCommentator is indeed a KP PR person, you can see why they're in the trouble that they are. You're shocking at it, mate.

What? Literally not at all.

SabreIsMyFave · 18/03/2024 19:03

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 17/03/2024 22:25

True, but now I've regained it

It's almost as though as KP may have read about my disappointment.

I am very, very happy on reading this as it shows that she is recovering well and this is fantastic news for her husband and their children!

A contact did advise me re rumours about this but was unsure as it was not fact-checked at the time, so I did not share it earlier in the day

Great news all around

It's almost as though as KP may have read about my disappointment.

WTF have I just read? 😆😂

Trust me, they are reading NOTHING that you post - ever!

Also, as has been said, there is zero evidence of Kate being seen. ZERO! 0! Nowt, nothing, rien, nichts, faic, niente, nada!

Serious question. Are some FM's a tad envious I got to this story from The Sun, first?

Oh my days! 😂You're entertaining, I'll give you that!!! Grin

And it was in THE SUN! Oh well, it MUST be true then. 😆

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 18/03/2024 19:15

CucumberBagel · 18/03/2024 18:57

So how come the pic is in the papers if as you said, none of them changed their minds?

I saw the front of the Sun at the shop. Kate was in the orange jacket. In small print it said that that particular picture was from last September, if I have remembered correctly. I didn't buy a copy.

The doctored photo can still accompany an article about the photo being doctored.

However it shouldn't be used as it was originally intended - to illustrate a story about how well KM was doing on mother's day - because it is so edited, it can't be trusted to be truthfully showing that.

Yes! Honestly think throwing some in your next shopping basket would be a good move. I haven't looked back since rediscovering it.

The Sun made it read as though at first glance the pictures were current and applied to the Sunday shop visit. IMO, they should have made it more clear as several FM's thought the pics were current.

Well, that's the whole point.

It's unlikely that The Farm Shop Visit happened at all.

I suspect that the press/KP relationship is rocky right now, to put it mildly.

ArcaneWireless · 18/03/2024 19:49

I’m popping in past the wee corner shop after work so will hope it is there.

Given that they charge about £5 for a bottle of sunflower oil (that the predecessor co-op charged £1 for, it may be dearer than I expect.

But now I fancy it. So will have it if it is there. I do like a nostalgic eat. So thank you @Ceriscene for the reminder.
