Finding all the Princess of Wales conspiracy theories so odd. Am I in as much of a minority as it seems?

Perhaps I'm naive. Maybe my imagination isn't as wild as it could be ( although it is general incredibly lively), maybe ive got a realistic perspective, or maybe I've got it utterly wrong. Whichever is the case time will tell.
I'm Finding it difficult to understand why pepole would think it so inconceivable that firstly she has had surgery, rather than is having a MH crisis or divorce out they're is done other strange mystery afoot. It's apparently unimsginsble that surgery is major and takes a lot of recovery to get back to full health, a)to be potentially walking around for hours on end not feeling drained and exhausted and. b) being in the public eye wanting/ needing/ being expected to look good on return to public life.

i personally underwent abdominal surgery at the same hospital as the PoW a fortnight ago And stayed in for 6 days. Apparently many pepole in the Gi unit stay up to a fortnight two weeks on, although my cuts are tiny (keyhole), I am swollen up and currently am a similar size to I was when I was 7.5 months pregnant, covered in bruises, & in almost constant severe pain despite a cocktail of drugs and can barely move around. To say I'm exhausted would be the understatement. I normaly walk 6 miles every day and work out bit I can't ever get to the street corner150ft away and back without being crippled. I'm carrying about 7kg of extra weight in swelling. Needless to say apart from feeling grim I look deathly.
I've been given a very structured list of things I can't do for 6 weeks, very basic things - I tried as it seemed so ridiculous. Clearly its not ridiculous. Abdominal surgery can be a huge deal. I've been told 6 weeks to be able to do ordinary things like mopping the floor and hovering, carrying anything more than 4 or 5 kgs the 12 weeks to get back to my usual stamina and condition.

If i was appearing in the scrutiny of the public eye I would not be going out if I did not look back to normal and feel good. Surgery makes you feel really low and you need to feel good about yourself especially when you're going to be picked apart the world over. .

People firstly have no idea what is involved I often in major surgery. Add in having to maintain an Element of appearance for the public so asks extra time to achieve that.
They seems to be huge confusion between planned/ elective vs emergency surgery. Its always planned unless you are literally rushed in as a critical emergency. Otherwise it's classed as planned I saw my surgeon for a consultation. My op was the next day. Urgent but not an emergency, therefore planned.

Is it really that strange?..

@toastofthetown - It's a Mother's Day insta picture! Have a sense of proportion! What "highly impactful" tweaks are you talking about?
What are you trying to say?

Fulshaw · 16/03/2024 07:50

She just wanted the picture to be perfect, hardly a crime.

There’s an advert on the tv at the moment for Google Pixel 8, called best shot or something, where you can select the best face from multiple photos and put them into one. Normal thing to do now.

RockyandBullwinkle · 16/03/2024 07:50

On Instagram yes. As far as I know the picture is still on Instagram and their other social media accounts. It’s not allowed by AP, Reuters et al. which is why they issued the kill notice.

That must be very annoying for the press.

LlynTegid · 16/03/2024 07:51

OP, not strange as most people have no clue about the surgery.

Hope you continue to recover.

shockthemonkey · 16/03/2024 07:52

Obviously you are not in the minority, OP.

Yes some people are clamoring and speculating in a frenzied way, but many many more people are not.

You’re confusing noise and numbers.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 16/03/2024 07:54

I think it’s hilarious- she had an operation, they said she would be out of action until Easter so what’s the issue? The threads on here are brilliant though - so many people getting their knickers in a twist!

DrawersOnTheDoors · 16/03/2024 07:57

Agree, also if I didn't need the money I damn well wouldn't rush back to work in haste. I'd make sure to take the recommended leave, every day of it.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 16/03/2024 07:57

I'm hoping that it shows a trend for conspiracy theories to become more and more desperate and irrelevant til we all just reach some sort of collective small orgasmic spasm. And then calm the fuck down and post about our hobbies instead.

Honestly, even if there is 'something going on', who the hell cares? She's just some skinny rich woman. Its all just posh-people Eastenders

This whole thing has fascinated me lately, and I'm not interested in the royals normally at all.

I think the reaction is very silly and disproportionate but also - one of the most photographed women on the planet has disappeared from view for a while, and it seems like her PR team just didn't plan for it or think how to comment on it for her fans.

However phoney and ludicrous it would be, it wouldn't have taken much for the occasional posts saying she's still recovering, pictures of a get well card, throwback photos, that kind of thing, it's what's expected these days on social media where they're used to being a constant presence.

No mum should ever have to think about that stuff when sick, but the Princess Kate image is a very carefully marketed and curated package with a big team behind it, so I think it's odd and unprofessional that no one thought ahead.

Then again it's made me take a look, so maybe the extra interest isn't a bad thing for them in media terms?

Sums it up perfectly. POW should be allowed to recover privately in the timescale set, but for that to happen her PR team needed to be on the ball managing public interest on her behalf. The issue with the photo is massive because it was dishonest. Hugely damaging.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 16/03/2024 08:00

This is the media's fault and the public with no brain cells fall for it just be happy to know you have some intelligence :)

I think it's strange how the media have really turned on Kate and William. Basically they aren't playing to the tune if the media so now they get treated like shit.

IsoldeWagner · 16/03/2024 08:02

It wasn't massive and it wasn't dishonest.
Look at the Meghan and Harry pregnancy announcement picture in the garden. A lovely image. Misan Hariman added the tree.
Does that mean the Sussexes were lying? There was no baby? They weren't in California?
No, it was a harmless enhancement of a picture.
I think it's all got a bit silly.

EdithWeston · 16/03/2024 08:03

Conspiracy theorists are always louder than quiet reason.

There is absolutely no reason to think there is anything wrong other than a medical condition that was serious enough to require an operation and a couple of months recuperation time.

If she does not appear at about Easter, then that's the time to start wondering.

I have thought all along there will be an announcement shortly before Easter, and her first appearance will be at Church on Easter Sunday. And that an early engagement might be with a new patronage for a charity dealing with whatever it is she has got (on the grounds that she'll talk about it when she's good and ready, but not before fully recovered and back to public appearances)

All of which is very dull compared to the dastardly deeds dreamed up by the conspiracy theorists, magnified on SM, and even given further coverage by mainstream media who use SEO techniques.

TwistedCable · 16/03/2024 08:04

I’m no fan of the Royals, but I think Kate has been very badly treated by them. It’s very much echoing what happened to Diana.

readingmakesmehappy · 16/03/2024 08:04

creeashun · 16/03/2024 07:11

I agree with you. My mum had bowel surgery and a stoma and was in hospital for six weeks and rehab for several weeks after that These things take time to heal

If the PoW has a stoma or something similar that would explain the lengthy absence.

How have "they" treated her badly?
Who are "they"?

WandaWonder · 16/03/2024 08:06

I think there is a section of society that has a very insular life and way of thinking who genuinely believes what they take from what the media reports is the total truth. I am not sure of it is lack of intelligence or just they have a set way of life and can't imagine anything out of that they are used too, news of the royals and celebrity is their world

ArcaneWireless · 16/03/2024 08:06

IsoldeWagner · 16/03/2024 07:18

I think part of the problem is this celebrity over sharing. In the last week I've seen several celebrities post pictures of themselves in hospital beds. Nothing seems to be private. Here we have a woman who doesn't want to over share and wants to be private, and she gets pilloried for it.

Edited

I think that is exactly it unfortunately.

Meadowfinch · 16/03/2024 08:06

Same here. I had abdo surgery- 7 days in Women's surgical and 6 weeks off sick.

The conspiracy theories are created by a bunch of bored, ignorant, ill mannered people with nothing more interesting in their lives, or people/journos creating click bait.

I suppose it's more exciting for them than daytime tv. 😂

Debtfreegoals · 16/03/2024 08:07

Exactly OP, I agree 100%. I think some people just can’t cope without drama and conspiracy in their lives.

ArcaneWireless · 16/03/2024 08:07

and this.

clarepetal · 16/03/2024 08:08

LadyMinerva · 16/03/2024 02:18

I'm with you. I can't understand the fever pitch this has reached. She is on leave until Easter. Simple.

Agreed. It was always said that she wouldn't be around till Easter. Nothing has changed. I think that because Charles has made appearances and told the public that he has cancer that they expect her to do the same. Her story is clearly different to his, and we have no idea what is going on with her.
This is just proof of the ridiculous expectations the royals have to put up with. Not a lifestyle I'd choose for sure!

AgnesX · 16/03/2024 08:09

There seems to be a whole subset of people, who despite being told otherwise, think that she should be available to them at all times and that these peoples' whole lives be laid wide open.

They've forgotten that William has always set boundaries and that now includes Kate.

They might live a comfortable lives but I wouldn't want to be them for all the money in the world.

I fear it would still struggle with my coupon!

😂Maybe you could pose next to a pylon and change it to the Eiffel Tower!

Tiddlywinks63 · 16/03/2024 08:11

It smacks of a baying mob wanting their demands met and I think is absolutely revolting behaviour, it smacks of harassment with the ridiculous speculation and expectations.
i’m not a royalist but I feel really sorry for what Kate and William are being put through.
i guess I shouldn’t be surprised after what the Sussexes went through too.
Common decency has gone out the window, including on MN where I have been shocked at some posters’ attitudes.
