Yet another piece! What are they trying to tell us without telling us?
Rose went to Stowe so presumably had a knowledge of Wills inner circle growing up.. But why all the articles!

Lady Rose Hanbury: Kate’s party-loving close friend with a Saltburn-esque upbringing

While the Marchioness of Cholmondeley is one of Kate Middleton’s best-known associates, they couldn’t be less alike. Maddy Mussen reports on the flamboyant life of her party-loving lookalike

Oh good, now we're bullying and harassing 2 women online now.

Happy days.

This whole sh*te about how "they can't publish because the Palace is scary" - if they have proof they will publish. They haven't got proof (and God knows they've been digging for it for years) so they're publishing unsubstantiated gossip for clicks.

Why is there no proof? After looking for years?? I dunno. Maybe because it's not true? And don't start going on about super injunctions again - ask Ryan Giggs about how well they work.

A section of the British press are anti monarchists, there's no way they would sit on a story this big that could not only damage the monarchy but made them a lot of money as well.

Also, we're in the age of social media. It's been 5-6 years now, we would've seen evidence by now

LiterallyOnFire · 14/03/2024 12:09

Just putting it out there that Rose's older sister Marina also married an older man with a title.

And we're supposed to care, why exactly?

I haven't clicked on any of the other inane gossip links. I'm certainly not clicking on that one.

BenefitWaffle · 14/03/2024 12:11

There was no evidence that Charles and Camilla were having an affair even though much of the public knew about it, until Charles admitted it in an interview. The only proof there could ever be is either a photo of two people full on snogging, or one of the two parties admitting it.

Purplebunnie · 14/03/2024 12:14

One rule for the press and one rule for everyone else. The press are up in arms about Catherine altering a photo but feel its quite fair to print all these other photos to generate speculation and rumours. These are peoples lives they are messing with.

As I've said elsewhere the media want a scandal and they are doing their best to manipulate it.

BenefitWaffle · 14/03/2024 12:17

@Purplebunnie the photo was effectively faked.
The media are not writing lies. What they are saying about Rose is true.

Missingprincess · 14/03/2024 12:21

Literally all media outlets have all printed Rose pieces. This woman is not royalty or a celebrity, she's just an aristos wife. There must be some smoke if they choose her out of countless others..

Okay so if this is true about Rose it happened years ago and William and Catherine must have worked their way through it. Why are the media so determined to destroy peoples lives, there are 4 peoples lives in this and if they have all moved on then so should everyone else. It is their business

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 14/03/2024 12:22

With the low level of critical thinking on here - media prints it, must be true and the like - I really hope some posters never serve on a jury.

Basilthebad · 14/03/2024 12:23

Who?

Merrymouse · 14/03/2024 12:25

Because Rose Hanbury related gossip generates clicks and that makes people money!

Delphiniumandlupins · 14/03/2024 12:26

It's frankly lazy journalism. They don't do any new investigations just rehash old stories. And then say there's lots of interest/discussion about x or y because they're feeding it.

Absolutely, years ago the press used to help solve crimes. Not anymore.

I consider them the lowest of the low

It’s not as though you even have to pay a journalist. Just identify what people want and create text that can be found and clicked.

Missingprincess · 14/03/2024 12:33

But she's just another aristo, they have their pick! Why Rose & how did the rumours start..

@WinnieTheW0rm I understand what you are saying but why target Rose as opposed to dozens of other rural toff girls?

Rose Hanbury was rumoured to have had an affair with Prince William a number of years ago. RH and her husband were good friends with Kate and Will, and they were always socialising together and then suddenly they weren’t, she’s not some random aristo from Norfolk the press has selected. Unless the same thing has happened with other aristos from Norfolk that I’m not aware of?

Firkinhavinalaugh · 14/03/2024 12:49

Because journalists are no better than paparazzi - biggest juicinest story/pic gets the big bucks. Most clicks - most ad revenue.

It’s national enquirer press tactics not productive journalism.

And why? Because another attractive, slim, dark haired middle class girl married “above her station”, moves in the same circle and has children of a similar age so why not?

its gossip and speculation vs actual fact. You know it’s shit when MN posters start linking to the daily mail. Somehow the Daily Mail seems more credible than the sun or the mirror……….

newsflash - it’s not. You just never see the hidden retractions on page 43.

oh and fun fact - the DM is full of nepotism, editors children writing the stories, editors changing their publish name to get additional revenue, and shoddy journalism taken from the “clippings” library where it is “fact” from having been printed previously. There’s only one winner here….

cordeliachaseatemyhandbag · 14/03/2024 12:52

I'm sure she's not the only one to have been pumped and dumped.

concernedchild · 14/03/2024 12:52

ssd · 14/03/2024 08:57

Its weird, totally pitting her against kate and trying to make kate sound dull and boring by comparison.

It's to make Will's mistress more palatable now.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 14/03/2024 12:56

So I’m not completely in the know or anything , but I had heard the background of the rumours was that Rose Hambury lived near Will and Kate in Norfolk, and the two woman were close friends, saw a lot of each other socially, their dcs playing together etc. they were the physically closest of similar posh levels so easy to meet up with and unlikely to sell stories. Then suddenly Kate and Rose didn’t seem to be friends anymore. Stopped spending lots of time together and Kate and William moved.

The rumour mill filled in the blanks and assumed it that the cause was an affair between William and Rose. There may be another reason for them falling out (or just deciding they don’t like each other after all without any actual falling out).

Dolphinnoises · 14/03/2024 12:57

Papers are doing it for clicks. That is it. The RF are not behind it. They spend thousands and thousands burnishing the image of W and K.

Why Rose H in the first place? I think because Giles Coren made it up as a joke? Because she was a model and in their social circle and people like to stir? Or because there really were rumours, founded or otherwise? Who can tell?

ShazzaF · 14/03/2024 12:58

Ready4ActionRyderSir · 14/03/2024 09:50

i work in this sort of area, it’s because the newsrooms use software to see what’s trending and what people are searching for, then they want to capitalise on that wave of interest so they write articles.

Because so many people are discussing the rumours surrounding Kate and the photo, conspiracy that she’s going to divorce william, his alleged affair with Rose, it’s leading to more Google searches hence more converse about rose. Who she is etc.

they will try and write something fresh and an interesting angle to ensure Google “picks” their article to show when somebody Google’s lady rose.

Yeah. I know nothing about journalism or this idea that things are sometimes published as sort of secret messages, so I can't comment on that.

But, I did used to work as an SEO person. If I was employed to do SEO for a newspaper's website, then now would be the exact time I'd recommend publishing/updating an article on Rose Hanbury!

Epidote · 14/03/2024 13:15

@Missingprincess they are feeding the trolls. They love a gossip, now the buble will be bigger and in a couple of days they will be reporting about how SM had gone nutters.
They retro feed themselves with this shite.
Everlasting never ending silly gossip.

Missingprincess · 14/03/2024 13:16

@Firkinhavinalaugh but Rose didn't marry above her station. She was already a fully fledged aristocrat! Rose's grandmother was one of Queen Elizabeth's bridesmaids so Rose & her family grew up in those circles unlike Kate.
