Why do royal reporters bully a child but ask for respect for an adult?

And your point is?

That she monetised her child, and didn't care about privacy if the price was right.

Meanwhile, in background, Meghan was negotiating to sell the first glimpses of her baby to an American TV network.

Wasn't my main point though. How a woman chooses to give birth and where they do it is my main point that is her choice not broken protocol. Both women have been badly failed at very vulnerable points in their life the RF could and should do better. I'm hoping things drastically change for the next generation.

Prydddan · 13/03/2024 10:56

@thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway

This thread is about privacy. The first para of your post is about privacy. It was the issue of privacy that I was addressing, and how Meghan was willing to compromise hers to curry favour with the press when there was financial gain to be had.

I agree that both women have been badly treated by the press.

StickyWickets · 13/03/2024 11:16

Well they don't mind following the royal tradition when it comes to giving their kids royal titles though do they?

GoonieGang · 13/03/2024 12:38

concernedchild · 13/03/2024 06:40

Oh no, not the royal tradition! That must always be followed

Yes Royal traditions are usually for following. The RF are there to be followed too. Kate did say she was having surgery and wouldn’t be seen until Easter, yet everyone is still coming up with conspiracy theories and hate.
Meghan just decided not to share any information.
If you like the RF then you expect a window into their lives. You expect to see the new baby and photos, it’s part of the job.

Roussette · 13/03/2024 13:03

concernedchild · 13/03/2024 06:30

Not really.

Meghan asked for privacy because of her mental health and was told "we pay, you pose". Meanwhile Kate is being granted every protection they can. They're literally photoshopping pictures to cover it up.

As Harry said. They're willing to lie to protect William but they would never tell the truth to protect Harry.

^^ This

Gosh is that like the huge amount of money Zara and Mike took from Hello for the first pics and spread of their firstborn?

iwafs · 12/03/2024 23:28

I do think a baby photo, particularly of a royal baby is rather different to an intrusive dissection of someone's private medical details - the poor woman has probably had half her guts cut out and people just want to know about what's been done and also want to see photos of her feeling shit. Weird I think. But natural to want to see a baby pic.

Agreed it's different

Comparison isn't like for like

Serenster · 13/03/2024 13:10

Zara and Mike explained that they did that because people wanted it - which I suspect is better for them than being followed by photographers trying to get a snap of the family? Presumably after the pictures were publicised, they are left alone.

Roussette · 13/03/2024 13:14

People wanted them to sell pics of their baby for £150,000 ??
Really?
First I knew of that!!!

They could've released one pic for nothing, instead it was a 17 page spread for dosh

of course there is always a good reason why the tindals do stuff.... money

Apparently the Queen was not best pleased !

The Tindalls weren't all "privacy privacy privacy" before and after they did it, though.

Prydddan · 13/03/2024 13:22

@concernedchild

From Spare, it sounds like threPalace covered up a lot of truth to protect Harry

Roussette · 13/03/2024 13:39

Nor were Harry & Meghan

Salemforcuddles · 13/03/2024 17:41

@namechangeduetoimpatience I asked what had been the dishonesty from day one, not what had happened in the last few days. A reasonable person would wait to find out if there had actually been dishonesty from day one, as there isn't any evidence of this I will wait until there is

AliceOlive · 13/03/2024 17:48

Someone else did something is only justification here on RFF.

LifeExperience · 13/03/2024 18:17

@namechangeduetoimpatience "They are lying and covering up something. I am not sure any reasonable person is disputing that at this point."

Reasonable people certainly are disputing it. Were M&H "lying and covering up something" when their Christmas card with them in the background and Archie in front got a kill notice? No, of course not, because the vast majority of people edit photos for social media at times. In fact most photos of Harry show quite a bit more hair than you see in his live shots. Is Harry "lying and covering up something?"

This is no different than the Sussex Christmas card or many, many photos of Harry. It's editing, not lying, and not a coverup.

eise · 13/03/2024 19:49

AliceOlive · 13/03/2024 01:10

I adamantly supported Meghan‘s privacy during Archie’s birth and was delighted she managed to keep it quiet and make those decisions.

I don’t think these two events are comparable, but fully support everyone, particularly the married-ins, being able to remain as private as they wish, whenever they choose.

Meghan was ridiculed for feeling suicidal and suffering from MH problems and depression after being bullied and treated terribly. She was not offered the same sympathy despite this. She was flung from pillar to post.

They do most of their money raising schemes in Australia, away from the British public eye.

Yes, H&M could have lied in the instances you mentioned. What's that got to do with the point I am making. You dont need to bring up Meghan and Harry. OR does that make you feel better? lmao

By people like Piers Morgan who apparently people on team SS are quoting now as if he were not vile.

I hope you didn’t participate or condone that at the time. I know I didn’t. If you didn’t, why bring it up now as if it justifies what is happening to a different woman today?

What on earth are you saying? There are scores of threads here even today people still take jibes at Meghan on this very forum and it's apparently seen as completely acceptable.

I am just saying it's funny people suddenly have a new found sympathy for Kate but fail even today to show the same sympathy to Meghan. I wonder why.

I can’t answer that. Ask the people doing it. I don’t think any of it’s funny. Why do you? And how do you choose when you feel it’s acceptable?

Edited

Who said anything about any of it being acceptable, please get off my back. Go prefect someone else. Find someone else's neck to kneel on. Go and look through old threads and compare with current ones to find your villains.

I hope YOU show the same sympathy across the board and stop being rude calling people SS - wth is that? There's a WS and a SS?
