It’s not a bad photo at all, but given it will be been by literally millions of people, it’s fair to critique it.

I don’t like the exaggerated open-mouthed beams by the children, it looks forced and it’s a bit much.

Presumably both Louis’s crossed fingers and the lack of wedding ring are deliberate. My heart sank when I saw that and realised the frenzy of fresh speculation they’ve decided to cause… I also think the lack of wedding ring is strange because it’s an allusion to Diana, William’s own mother, that they’ve decided not to include.

I’m a few hundred miles north, so can’t judge the greenery. But who wears skinny jeans - so skinny they’re tucked into her boots! - when recovering from abdominal surgery?

Compositionally, I don’t like how the combination of Kate’s dark top and the children make her look a bit buried in the photo. It would be nicer to see more of her shoulders, rather than just her head.

Otherwise, yes, a nice photo, and glad to see she’s doing well!

Yes that applies to normal mums. It does not apply to her. The world is rife with speculation about this most public of women, and of course a posed photo minus ring is going to cause massive speculation.

On another note, I think she looks very good and the kids look healthy and happy.

These photographs fascinate me. ‘Look at us, boring suburbanites just like our subjects, wearing ‘relatable’ clothes and posing in ‘relatable’ environments that conceal the status and money that remove us from your ambit! We’re so ordinary!’

They’re like the studio photographs a certain type of person used to have huge prints of hung in their sitting room, where everyone’s romping winsomely on a beach in jeans, or having a barefoot rough and tumble while wearing white shirts and jeans.

@LittleGlowingOblong have you considered perhaps it does not fit at the moment after surgery and everything? I didn't even notice. I think the children are just being children and excitedly laughing and smiling is pretty normal to me.

How has this photo being released taken anything away from your, or anyone else’s, Mother’s Day?

The same posters that love scrutinising the wales’ marriage scream blue murder when it’s suggested about the Sussex’. The hypocrisy is glaring. Why are they so desperate for William and Kate to split? Do they think they have a chance with one of them? And why so desperate for the other two to stay coupled up? Maybe they don’t want to inflict Harry on anyone else 😂

@Pushtart Given the roaring furnace of speculation that’s underway, it didn’t need to fit her, just be on her finger for all of two minutes. Her fingers don’t look swollen, I think.

I think it's a lovely photo, and I do think it's nice that's they've said thank you for the good wishes. I know Brownie groups and school classes who made and sent cards, so it's nice for them to hear that.

Have you looked outside? It's early spring. I'm not far from Windsor and there are green trees and bushes everywhere.

I've thrown my beautiful photo of me and the kids in the bin. DH got the kids to decorate the frame and also brought me red wine, but now all the kids are just sat, heads tilted, staring at Twitter and saying "wish she was my Mama" in monotone. How dare she.

I'm safely assuming she has been very unwell and removing and was told to have pics taken without the usual precautions etc. We all forget.

We all know HRH has a serious and complex op and that is a fact.

TBH. I BLAME KP for getting hRH to do this picture shoot and not ensuring her ring was on. Heads must roll at KP. IMHO, there was no need for this or any other picture as the doom-mongers would have a field day at any news. Even if HRH was to walk out tomorrow on a public engagement, people would ask stupid questions.

Ideally, KP should have kept their trap shut and no pictures as this one does stoke up yet again, ridiculous rumours.

I suspect the picture is recent and thankfully, HRH and kids look well. I'm pleased for HRH Kate, her children and William.
