@Uricon2 It has no bearing on Kate. But given the misconceptions people already have about government employees I thought it was important to correct. Terms and conditions have been eroded so that newer contracts look nothing like the old contracts people had.

I'm fed up reading about the RF tbh, since our lovely QE2 died it's lost its appeal to me. I no longer feel loyal to any of them.

Let's be honest all families suffer illness's at times and we just have to get on with it. I've had my fair share and more of family troubles, I don't need to read about people I don't really know or care about.

Queen Camilla is taking time out now also. If you believe Hello magazine anyway. It was mentioned on the William thread.

There is not generous sick leave, that went years ago.
And the palace initially said Catherine would be working from her bed.

Where did you see that about the Palace initially saying Kate would be working from her bed? The first release said she had surgery, would be in hospital for 10-14 days and would then be recovering till after Easter. At no point was there mention of her working from her bed.

ToffeeTalk · 02/03/2024 21:05

I definitely read that too: I can't remember which publication but one of the main daily newspapers. I recall the article saying that there would be a 'huge focus' on the early years thing - it struck me as being over the top.

ToffeeTalk · 02/03/2024 21:06

It was a 'spokesperson' quoted rather than a formal statement.

ItsAllAboutTheDosh · 02/03/2024 21:23

@GrouchyKiwi It was all over the media. I do not follow the royal family but saw it on multiple media sites.

A friend asked me what type of cancer I reckoned the King had...

Funnily enough I had a similar conversation today. First time I've had any conversation of the sort.

It reads like someone's been spending too much time on twitter. I hope someone's archiving this stuff - it'll be an interesting time period to look back over.

Yes, sure… you just slipped and somehow landed in the Royal Family forum, accidentally finding yourself full of oven-ready speculation about Kate… right 😉🙄

ToffeeTalk · 03/03/2024 09:14

The story about Kate working from bed was in the papers, and was written in the manner of being 'official'. No mention of it recently - it was early on, around the time the reports said she was discharged from The London Clinic complete with a bit of gushing about how a 'huge focus' would be the early years project. All a bit quiet on the working from bed front now. It definitely wasn't X.

Off topic so apols but @ItsAllAboutTheDosh I owe you a sincere apology. Found out today (purely by coincidence) that my former authority is now 3 months full pay for sick leave down from 6, even for people who have many years service. I'm out of the loop a bit and this passed me by. I know I shouldn't be shocked by the further erosion of terms and conditions, but this is a biggie.

Apologies again, I used a poor example.

But its not really, they made that statement when she left hospital. They also said there would be no further updates. So again why would they say anything what are they meant to say?

'Remember we said Catherine will be working from her bed when recovering, still the same, she still is'

Serenster · 03/03/2024 17:09

Working from bed is more likely to encompass correspondence and/or reading, rather than say Zoom calls. All of which, even any Zoom calls, none of us would know about at all unless we were directly involved. Which I suspect we are not. So it’s a statement that can’t be proved or disproved.

@Uricon2 thank you very much.
