Anyone think Kate is poorlier than we thought?
It feels like the kings cancer news is being used as a smoke screen to take the heat off k&W?

CormorantStrikesBack · 27/02/2024 12:21

Maybe he has the shits

That was my first thought if I'm honest

"like a puffed up bloated walrus on legs"
😂😂

Best description ever

Extremely unfair to walruses.

If you look at this thread, it has done the exact opposite!!

You think the speculation would be less if they hadn’t mentioned Kate? I doubt it.

They have one nanny . She has been with the family since George was born .

They have cover nannies too.

CarrotOfPeace · 27/02/2024 14:26

Maybe the school called him in for a word about one of the kid's behaviour

ilovebreadsauce · 27/02/2024 14:27

I think it's a minor illness.

DeliciouslyDecadent · 27/02/2024 14:27

ilovebreadsauce · 27/02/2024 14:26

They have cover nannies too.

But sometimes poorly kids just want their mum or dad.

It's either some first-aid issue (kids at school) or he has a tummy bug.

Bobbotgegrinch · 27/02/2024 14:27

I always love how everything's obviously some big drama or portent of doom or conspiracy with you lot!

Has anyone considered that maybe he just pulled out because he spent all morning with the shits and couldn't get off the toilet long enough to attend?

FaiIureToLunch · 27/02/2024 14:28

I reckon he didn’t want to be seen with Andrew?

Marriage problems maybe?

Yes agree

You think the cancer is a smokescreen? Do you mean you think he doesn't actually have cancer? Because other than a couple of announcements it's not like they've made a big thing about it in an obvious way to draw attention away from anything else. So unless you think they're lying, I'm not sure how they could have handled it in a less attention drawing way?

Cookerhood · 27/02/2024 14:28

A tummy bug isn't "personal reasons" it's health reasons & they could quite simply explain he'd had a bad pint, or something.

Only loads of posters before you...

And why would a smokescreen be needed anyway?

I don't think one can read anything into how he will be as king from what he does now. Whether or not it's wearing thin as a reason, he does still have young DC and it's not unreasonable, in fact I think it's a good thing, that they aim for as much normality as possible, with both parents fairly present and involved in home life, dropping off at weekend activities and so on.

None of which means he won't fully step up when required as king, or if Charles lives a long time, to act more for Charles once his own DC are older.

Caveat: I have young DC and I find life exhausting. If I could minimise work and use staff, I absolutely would!

I hope you are right because if he doesn’t it would not surprise me if he was the last King, at the moment he and Kate are the glamorous royal duo so they get a lot of leeway, when they are in their 60’s and seventies they won’t be as appealing, sad but true I’m afraid and no one will be impressed with an ageing part time head of state who is doing the job under sufferance. Time will tell.

Agree. Charles looks as perky as a Pekingese.

Think we're being spun a lot of rubbish.

Heat off Andrew in a very timely manner too, after the release of the Epstein papers.

Why on earth would he need to pull out of a godparent's memorial because of a row with the missus, who wasn't even going? His parents had one of the most acrimonious divorces in history and still managed to show up to this stuff.

If that’s the case they could have released a statement saying he had tested positive for Covid and no one would have batted an eye.

No, I think the king does have cancer. I think the timing and the way our attention has been diverted to it is to try and distract us from a potentially seriously ill Kate?
Just my thoughts anyway.

Mmm hmmmm, the royal family would absolutely fake cancer in the monarch to distract from someone who isn't even in the line of succession. That fits with everything we know about them as a family and Charles as a person.

viques · 27/02/2024 14:33

Probably what happened to me yesterday, a delivery scheduled for today which was perfect as I am home all day , but at 9.00 am yesterday just as I was leaving the house, I had an email saying it was on the van and out for delivery, due at 4.30 when I would still be in a meeting. Grrr. I took a risk and left the porch door unlocked and fortunately the local light fingered must have been having a tea break because the parcel was still there when I got home.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 27/02/2024 14:34

But the timing isn't in their control - he had to cancel engagements so they had to say something, it's not like he could have carried on as normal without mentioning anything was wrong.
And it doesn't make sense to distract from one ill royal with another, more senior, ill royal.

Andrew is a major issue for the royals.

I suspect Charles's health problems may be very insignificant tbh.
